How much is too much to pay for a pro sports player?

How much is too much to pay a rock star or a movie actor or a corporate CEO. They earn what the market will bare. As long as people are willing to pay big ticket prices, who cares. The only thing I object to is using any government funds in support of them, such as building a stadium or infrastructure for them.

ok, are you serious, i earlier saw a figure of 51 million dollars they were gonna offer this guy to pitch for us, how stupid does this sound, we can't even finsh fixing the big dig mistakes, but we're all for giving some guy 51 million dollars to play a game, he's not gonna lower our taxes, he's not gonna cure sick people, he's not even gonna help run the state, he's gonna throw a ball , in a game, the madness of it all....lol so in my opinion how much is too much, sports atheletes already get paid too much to play games that we all play for free as children, and i hear the quote "for the love of the game" more like the love of my paycheck...

I think they are already overpaid!! Who's the smart guy who decided that it is woth millions of dollars to hit or throw ball???? It sickens me that teacher's who teacher our children and doctors who save lives everyday get paid less then these "superstars".......psssssst....when it comes down to it is BIG PAPI going to perform that life saving surgery on you?!??!!?yea.....didn't think so!

If you cut their pay check in half they will still make way too much money. I don't see why the money can't go to help the people who need it like teachers and nurses.

Do you guys know what socialism is?
It doesn't work. Has failed many times already.
Do you complain about Brad Pitt making more than this pitcher? How about JLo? Or some of the rappers that make 10s of million a year? or Katie Couric, that lovely socialist that makes 13 million a year? Or Ray Ramano for making 1.8 million per episode? It takes a week to make an episode.
You mention nurses and doctors. How about chemists that invent the drugs that save millions of lives. Or the physicists that invent things like MRI and other medical devices. Or the software people that design the systems that make so many life saving devices work.
