Don Imus is suspended for 2 weeks for his racially-charged comments. Is that enough?

Are you kidding? It's total overkill! Imus gets suspended for making offensive comments about black people, but Ann Coulter can make offensive comments about gay people and not suffer any consequences? Or what about the issue of the Celtics announcers making derogatory comments about a female referee? Did they get suspended? Nope. Should Imus be suspended? Nope. He's an idiot, but he's an equal opportunity one. Don't like him? Don't listen to him! Same thing with Howard Stern. I know I don't listen to either.

People are so PC these days that all of this stuff gets so overblown. Was it offensive? Absolutely. But I've heard things that have been said that were much worse than this. You need to consider the source. There are plenty of people in this world who say things like that and worse about blacks, whites, gays, you name it.

I'm not saying it's right and I'm not defending him but if he's fired, he's going to be replaced by another big mouth with a big ego. It's the whole shock jock environment. Outrageous and offensive = ratings = $$$. Simple as that. A suspension does nothing, the guy has millions already. They had to do something though so this was what they did. Don't listen to him if you don't want to hear it but somebody else will be saying and thinking the same thing, it's no use working yourself up over ignorant people.

there is no such thing as freedom of speech anymore. it wasnt nice what he said but he has a right to say what he wants that was the constitution says.

i really think it's unfair for Imus to get suspended for ONLY 2 weeks? If it was someone who said it then i think that they consequences would be alot worse but since Imus is a white person he only gets 2 weeks suspension!!

What Imus said would have gotten other talk show host fired. Suppend for 2 weeks is like a vacation to him this guy makes 10 million a year. This guy is not funny! But what he said also gets me would there be a big hub bub about this if it were a black talk show host said it? what about the Hip Hop artist who say racial coments in their songs. Shall we say the pot caling the kettle black? As for Howard Stern all he talks about is sex whihc will run his course soon, and being on Sirrus radio allot of people are turning him off and finding out there are other radio chanels than him on Sirrus, like comerical free music stations. But when we went on Al Sharpton's radio show Al Sharpton proved to be a big moron when his show had a commerical he left the studio it showed no class for him either. Al Sharpton is a racist to white people. Also don't forget folks what Jessie jackson said about teh jewish people calling them Hymies. So the racial slurs can go both ways.

I believe that Imus should definately keep his job.I am sick of people crying Oh that's offensive.Do not listen to his show. That's it point blank.I do not listen to him or Howard Stern. You have a choice.Stop crying.Leave the man alone. It is like the comic from Jerry Seinfeld.Do not go to his comedy show.A plave like that you are far game, black, white, spanish, fat, skinny, male, female, illegal
(which you should not be here)I think you gat the picture.
Thank-You

I think the dismissal of Mr. Imus is wrong and unfair. I do admit that his comment was derogatory and aiming. However, the question we need to ask ourselves is this; is this the first time he does that? The answer to this would determine whether to dismiss him or not. I am black myself and I don’t think that African American community should take this a war in between Imus and the community because that team is not composed of black girls only. Do we correct mistakes by getting rid of people or by teaching them to improve? We all are activists of the immune communities, therefore, if we take it hard on Imus, let us be the same to the rest of the world and that includes Hip hop artists.

Imus had a history of spewing racial sleurs. He picked the wrong group to say derogatory things about. Most of these girls are 18 or 19 years old and are private citizens. Had he said this about professional, public people he would still have his job.
What a dope.It has nothing to do with freedom of speech and has everything to do with common decency.
