Do you agree with a Virginia school's no touching policy?

Leave it to the schools to limit normal appropriate behavior in children to limit the amount of discretion and common sense required of teachers.

They should just tie the kids up in their chairs, tape their mouths for each class.. lunch time comes .. give them an I.V.

Lets pretend were adults here and use the correct term, there is to be no pda, Public Display of Affection. Most schools enforce this same rule. Nothing wrong if you ask me.

Kids should be taught to keep thier hands to themselves ...and it should definatly be enforced in school.
My son had one too many incidents where he was poked and pushed one too many times ...this is where the bullying begins. There is no need for kids to poke or push each other in school.

If you let them just be kids later on down the line it can lead to much worse scenarios ..I think we have all seen one too many school incidents.

Bostonblogger, high 5-ing someone isn't pda. I see no problem with banning INAPPROPRIATE touching or fighting, but to ban ALL touching? Yeah, this ain't gonna be pretty. Can you imagine the mindset these kids are going to have about interacting with other people later in life? This is such bull it's not even funny.

now they want NO TOUCHING, what's next
walk single file, eyes straight ahead, arms lengh between each person.
oh wait they already do that in BOOT CAMP
this is not BOOT CAMP it'school, not all touching should be accepted however how about at sporting events when your teammate scores the winning goal, what are you supposed to do
NOD YOUR HEAD TO HIM/HER AND SAY "WONDERFUL GAME BUFF/BIFFY, MAYBE WE SHOULD AJERN FOR SOME TEA AFTER WE CHANGE"

I guess, from my perspective, it's not about "no touching" or "all touching" but about "some touching"....APPROPRIATE TOUCHING.

This requires adults who are willing to go the extra mile and teach appropriate touching. Teachers all too frequently, don't want to go the extra mile, and school administrators respond with policies like this.

I had a substitute teacher come up to me on the playground once, and tell me a child asked her to tie his shoe and Kelly Services told them they weren't allowed to touch a child--EVER-even to tie shoes or whip noses, or pick them up if they fell. I told her there was the 'spririt' of the law, and letter of the law. If a child's shoe is untied, TIE it, they fall, PICK THEM UP, they are crying, HUG them. Incidently, I tied the kids shoe as she was afraid to. Inappropriate touching--pushing, shoving, grabbing, hitting, is one thing, but folks, if YOUR child falls down, I'm doing to pick them up and pat them on the head, and if they need a hug, I'm going to give them one. So spank me!

So little Johnny stuck little Susie's ponytail in the ink well. Big deal. Now if little Johnny brought a gun into school, and shot little Susie then that is something to scream about. Over reaction and dramatics are in play now than they had ever been before. No wonder we have hyperactive children growing up seeing psychologist. I wish I was a psychologist.(should of followed through).. the money I'd be making off of unadjusted kids and parents. Too many reactionaries that should not be even near kids nevermind bearing them.
Give little Johnny a pill today.. he has A.D.D.. This A.D.D. is todays way for psychologist/psychiatrist to make oodles of money from hysterical parents that just should of given the child a 'kick' in their collective a*ses.. They are just spoiled rotten or the parents are just too busy to raise their children like they should be.. with care and attention.
Touching.. gawd.. I wish I had some of the teachers that have been busted for the actions they did.. I certainly wouldn't of complained.
