Do recent accidents at amusement parks make you more cautious about getting on thrill rides?

I just heard about the little girl in KY that had her feet chopped off at Six Flags on the Superman Tower of Power ride. It gave me chills. How can this happen??

I got my feet caught under the conveyor belt inside the funhouse at Canobie Lake Park when I was seven years old. Fortunately, I was not seriously injured, but I've never gone on a ride again. This just solidifies my fears.

I don't go to amusement parks. They're anything but amusing to me. Standing in line all day to get on "thrill"rides that give me headache's is not my idea of a good time.

ABSOLUTELY!!!
Will not go on rides anymore!!
Once seen a child ~ at Canobie Lake ~ on this ride that was chickens or roosters or something ~ it sat the child in the animal and just swung them around in a circle ~ not very fast ~ well, the chains broke and the squaker fell ~~~~ all set with ANY rides!
(I can't even take the carousel anymore) my son can go on it ten times in a row! My heart just pounds ~ I keep my fingers crossed ~ and am ready to run to him!
Amusement parks should service their rides on a daily basis ~ a complete thorough check ~ maintainance should be there #1 concern!!

Will I stop riding? Not a chance. But I ride each and every time with the knowledge that these machines are made to make us feel super-human, and that can come with consequences. We’re not meant to soar upside down at sixty miles an hour…look how often we hurt ourselves walking. For me, getting on a ride is like getting into a car – it’s dangerous, but I think I’d rather take my chances on the ride than on a highway of local drivers!

It makes me more cautious to get on anything. Nowadays people don't pay attention to the little things.

i have always been scared of the feeling in my stomach when im on a thrilling ride like a roller coaster, and seeing things going wrong lately with the rides i will think twice before i ride them..

I am a little more skeptical of traveling carnivals with rides that get put up and taken down than I am of theme parks. But I have heard bad things in general about the Six Flags parks so I would be less inclined to go there anyway. Disney has had their share of accidents but I would trust them.

Due to many recent events at the seasonal theme parks I refuse to go to them. I don't think they take safety serious enough. People are putting their lives in reckless hands! I go to the year round parks that have tough safety regulations, such as the Disney theme parks. Their regulations are more strict than the Florida State regulations. (Their issues have been rider error rather than malfunctioning rides.)

I feel so badly for the child in Kentucky. But, I would still go on amusement rides. I always watch the ride and think "wow would you get hurt if it broke." But the thrill of going fast and not dying is why I do it. If you go to Canobie Lake Park, try the Extreme Frisbee ride. It is extreme!!!! =)

Stay away from Disney's "It's a Small Laceration" ride.

Now I know why I dislike amusement parks--I have never liked them, and now I know I never will! That poor little girl--just the thought of that accident makes my stomach do flip flops!!!!!!! To think that one second she was squealing with joy, the next, shrieking in pain and disbelief... How very very sad! My heart goes out to her and her family.

I CAN REMEMBER WHEN PARDON PARK IN NATANSKET BEACH AND SOMEONE FELL OFF THE ROLLER COASTER AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE SEAT BELTS TO STRAP PEOPLE IN THERE SEATS AND THAT IS VERY SCARY TO ME.

THANKS,

I am a big chicken when it comes to rides anyway. Unfortunately, these accidents have only corroborated my fear of getting on heavy machinery that is often run by people that can't pass a background check.
