Well, it kills me to write this, but congrats Giants Fans.

That was an incredible game, from start to finish. I thought the NE Patriots were going to pull it out, but obviously, they couldn't.

The Giants defense, was in fact, giant.

I think the Patriots played a great game too. Both teams played hard and tough, but what can I say? The Giants won.

NE Patriots, thanks for an incredible season. That 16-0 regular season was very impressive. No one can take that away.

Maybe now that's all over we can stop talking about videos, and cheating, etc, etc. It's all about football. And this season we saw some incredible football.

NE Fans, I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly heartsick. Disappointed? Yes. Devastated? Nah. We've watched this team dominate the NFL for so long and I take great comfort in that.

I also don't believe this ride is over. Far from it.

We'll get to the Promised Land again. You read it here.

In the mean time, a tip of the cap to the NY Giants.

Bob,

I'm so glad you are not devastated either. I thought I was alone in this feeling. My husband is besides himself with devastation, me?.......disappointed, sure, but also very proud of them for what they achieved. I hope fans don't throw that out the window.

Pats fans....come on, we are also (most of us) Red Sox fans!! You mean to tell me the years of suffering didn't make you immune to disappointment? Aren't we the best at picking up, moving on, and coming back with a vengeance??! Come on, of course we are!!!

Congrats Giants!!

Hi June,

You are 100% correct.

Winning has taken the edge off losing.

Following the Red Sox, 78,86,03, were gut wrenching, soul crushing losses.

For the Pats, lots of disappointment over the years not to mention the two Superbowl defeats (before this one).

And how about the Celtics when Len Bias and Reggie Lewis died?

But winning 3 Superbowls and 2 World Series in the last few years has changed my perspective.

Of course, I'd be euphoric if the Pats had won yesterday, and it's a bitter pill to swallow (esp. losing to a NY team), but that's sports.

We are still in the middle of an incredible run of success, and I don't see it ending anytime soon.

So, yeah, today (Monday) won't be much fun. But after Tuesday, things will lighten up.

Ready for Opening Day, June???

I keep seeing headlines saying the patriots "lost" the super Bowl. The fact is they were beaten soundly by the New York Giants from the opening kickoff. We could all feel it. There was no magic, no flow,no offense. The Giants front four rolled over the offensive line at will.Tip of the hat to the Giants. Now if I can only find that other blog so I can tell DeathbyEli he was right! But he was only guessing anyway!!

June & Bob,

Of coarse we’re proud of the Pats for what they’ve done, and yes we did become immune to losing and disappointment because it was expected. However, since the Pats and the Red Sox turned things around for us, we have now become winners and have become accustom to winning and we want the winning to continue. It’s just sad that they couldn’t have pulled out this one last game and gone down in history as the first team ever to go 19-0. It’s an awful bitter pill to swallow right now and will forever be stuck in my craw.

HappyG,

Not to take away from the Giants incredible defense, but the offensive line for the Pats was not there yesterday. Had they been, the game may have been different. Maybe the Giants would have still won, but maybe not. We wont' know that. The fact is, the Pats did lose this for themselves because they will never know if their offensive line may have made a difference had they shown up.

Bob, my Red Sox jerseys and hats have been fluffed up and aired out in anticipation. I took opening day at Fenway off from work and I am READY TO GO!!! I have missed those boys!!!!

My husband and I were disappointed, a little shocked, but certainly not devastated. We predict that next year, while they may not have a perfect season, they will be in the Superbowl and they will win.
Can't wait for spring training either. I love football but baseball is my game.
And don't forget, we still have the Celtics.
Go Green and Go Sox. Oh and the Beanpot starts tonight too doesn't it? Isn't it great being a New England sports fan?

Pats fans, I know that was a hard loss, but ya'll still have one of the greatest teams ever. As a person that doesn't root for the Pats, I believe they focused too hard on the perfect season.

If it is any comfort; the Pats will be back in the mix next year. Of course, I hope they lose to my Cowboys in the bowl.

P.S. At least ya'll have baseball, we have the rangers.

cbfan,

Funny you should mention the perfect season thing. Midway thru the 4th, my brother said to me, "Right now, I wish they lost a game during the season."

And it's true. The Superbowl is pressure enough. Adding to it with the Legacy Game etc, is just incredible.

But the Pats came close to fulfilling the dream. Closer than anyone else. We can't forget that.

However, as I said, close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades. The Giants won the Superbowl.

I don't mean to take away from what the Giants accomplished. That was very impressive.

And yes, it kills me to say that!! :)

cbfan,

Nice to see you again. Your words are very true about the pressure, although they almost had it. What can you do? We move on. As any TRUE fan knows, you have to stick with your team in good times and bad. I thank them for the wonderful season they gave us. It never crossed my mind that I'd see that happening in my lifetime, much less that the Pats would be the ones doing it.

As always, you show you are a classy Cowboys fan. We'll see you next season, but stop in and say hi whenever you like! :)

I just wish it wasn't Burress who got that final touchdown. Oh well Pats will be back.

Ok, Fox, what happened to my comment from earlier?

cbfan,
I was saying that you are absolutely right about the pressure on a perfect season. I still love them, and thank them for a great season.

Also, we'll see you next season for sure, but you can visit any time you so feel inclined to.
