I don't know which is the bigger shock this morning: the Red Sox taking two games from the Angels, or OJ Simpson convicted on all counts.

Actually, I do know. It's OJ's conviction.

And I'm sure I join the majority when I say, "About Time!"

Like most of you, I remember exactly where I was when the original OJ verdict came in. And it felt like a kick in the teeth. The evidence was overwhelming to me that OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman.

But the Trial of the Century quickly turned into the Circus of the Century and information that had no bearing on guilt or innocence helped OJ's criminal jury reach a radically different conclusion. To me, that verdict, and its speed was a travesty of justice.

The only solace for Ron Goldman's family was the verdict of the civil jury which found OJ liable, and awarded the Goldmans more than 33 million dollars.

But OJ being OJ, he was able to skate away from even that amount of justice by having his NFL pension excluded from the award, thus allowing OJ to continue to live his lavish Playboy lifestyle while thumbing his nose at the Goldmans.

It seemed that's how it would always be for OJ, a celebrity for all the wrong reasons, living out his care-free life on golf courses, always in the company of attention craved Nicole Brown look-a-likes. And always within earshot of everyday people who thought OJ got away with murder.

To be honest, when OJ was arrested in Vegas, I fully expected more of the same. Overwhelming evidence. And another acquittal. Celebrity trumping justice once again. To paraphrase Leona Helmsley I was beginning to think only the little people do time.

And now OJ is guilty. On all counts. It still hasn't sunk in. And this new verdict arrives 13 years to the day that the criminal jury acquitted OJ on the murder charges. Amazing.

OJ will be sentenced on December 5th. He faces the very real possibility of life in prison. You know there will be appeals and this will likely drag on in the courts for years.

But for once, OJ Simpson has been held criminally responsible for a crime.

I never thought I'd see the day.

What about you? What's your reaction to this verdict?

First: It's shocking that you'd even write about being surprised at the Sox winning! There is no shock there, it's the Angels!
Secondly: It is well about time. The man made a joke out of his whole situation.

It was crazy to put his first trial on TV. Courttv has changed to truetv and does not carry these big publicity trials any longer.

At first it seems a little crazy what he has been found guity. When it is broken down it makes sense. Barging into a room univited and not letting people leave at their own free will is a major crime. I hope he does five years at least.

My reaction is actually one of sadness, Bob. I'm glad that OJ is finally getting his comeuppance, but it's just a sad reminder of the reason he should already be in jail.
Not to mention the fact that this is sure to re-ignite racial tensions in this country because of the fact that so many black people deceived themselves into thinking that OJ wasn't guilty of double-murder.
The whole thing is really ugly and sad. I felt no great elation when I first heard the news.
Augh...I just don't know what else to say. I've been sitting here trying to think of what to type, but this whole thing just causes me to feel a blank numbness inside. It's depressing.

It just goes to show that, althought it may take her a while, Karma ALWAYS comes back to bite.

I never really liked o.j. I think most footblall/baskeball players are overe rated. Who knows ,every one love Reggie Bush ,but he could be the next o.j.

There is a strong posiblity O.J. did murdered his wife. But this verdict was kinda of unsettleling. It was almost like the Jury wanted to make sure they convicted him on the 13th. They did not want to end the day.

I think if it had happen where O.J was not involved ,every one would have gone home and that would have been the end of it.

I guess it was revenge for Mr. Goldman......

Bob, Leopards don't change their stripes...you eventually O.J. would do something criminal an end up in jail its in his criminal mind his pathology....Sociopath with Suicidal tendencies like we saw on the Highway in the great Bronco Chase he had gun remember....

What i could not ever figure how the hell could of the detectives planted O.J.s house on the driveway etc....when they did the collection by forensics team since O.J. hadn't come into town yet from his hotel room where he supposedly cut his hand in rage....they hadn't got the blood sample yet? so how did they plant blood? they clearly didn't have O.J.s blood when the made their forensic collections at his house...

Bob the only reason why OJ didnt beat this rap was simple,.He didnt have 12 brain dead moronic jurors from LA deciding this case.If his lawyers had any brains at all they should have asked for a change in venue to LA so it would have been guaranteed he would have walked.I hope the judge throws the book at him.Somewhere Ronald goldmans fatehr must be laughing his ass off seeing the Juice is going to get pulped in jail.

The jury in the simpson trial did the only thing they could. they found guilty a man who committed a crime expressly prohibited under Navada Law. If he wanted his property back all he had to do was take the people to civil court, and let the court decide if it was stolen or not.

Bob,

Here’s a guy whose time has finally come, 13 years to the day too late, but, never the less it’s here. This guy has been walking around with an air of arrogance for to long, and hopefully justice has finally caught up with him. He’s just about admitted he killed his wife and Ron Goldman with the book he wrote “If I did it”. If that isn’t an admission of guilt, then I don’t know what is.

Let’s all hope this jury can do what the first jury didn’t do, and send this creep to prison for life where he belongs.

I'll always remember a quote by Alan Durkovitz (?), a lawyer, after the innocent verdict. A reporter was upset he got off, and Alan said, Yes, O.J. got off, but only on Earth..."

I don't think it's any coincidence on the timing of the conviction Bob. And I'm also not surprised he was found guilty on all counts. If he didn't get away with a double homicide 13 years ago, he would have walked away from this one, but then again he wouldn't be in this position either.

What jury wouldn't jump at the chance to find Orenthal Julious guilty?!

Karma! Karma! Karma!

Seems the "glove" fits this time, huh? Poor O.J. spent 13 years looking for the REAL killer of Nicole and Ron but only could find him when looking in a mirror!
His arrogance over these past 13 years was sickening. He was ordered to pay the Goldman's millions in a civil court but he even got away with living a lavish lifestyle while paying NOTHING towards that order!
I am so sick of seeing that lying, manipulating sociopath posing for pictures with a big ole smile on his face, while living a life of luxury.
I can only hope O.J. gets life in prison for the new charges he is now found guilty of.... they are pretty bad things he did.... and that his new cellmate, BUBBA, squeezes the juice right out of him! Pulp & all! ;-)

You see, Bob? These kinds of stories often bring out the very worst in people. I'm glad that OJ is getting the justice he deserves, but I certainly don't take delight in it.
I am sad for Nicole & Ron, O.J.'s kids, and even for O.J.; this whole story should be viewed as a tragic shame; not a cause for celebration.
I feel the sorriest for the lynch-mob. It's too bad to see such esurience for blood.

I'm glad the evidence in this case caused the jury to convict him. I'm afraid if there wasn't enough, and he was convicted, that it would be said that people convicted him this time because he wasn't convicted last time. The last trial was a sham. You had a hollywood wannabe judge, showmen lawyers and cops who were smug. I remember looking at his son's face when the Nicole/Ron verdict was read. He looked surprised that OJ got off. I think it's because he knew he was guilty, like we all did. It is a shame that it took so long for justice to be served. I'm thankful that this man, who thought he was above the law, finally did himself in. It is so true that what goes around, comes around. Rest in Peace Nicole Brown-Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

The judge was the biggest train wreck. This is LA. The last trial I watched was the Phil Spector/Lana Clarkston. The judge was great, the prosecuting attorney was the best, and Spector still got a mistrial. One juror held out.

The only thing I disagree with here is the statement that he would not have been convicted this time had he not got off the first. Technically it's right because he would be in jail and not have committed this crime. But if we use the same hypothetical theory and say the first incident never happened and OJ's reputation was clean going in, according to the jurors they still would have convicted because they agreed OJ's voice on the tape was evidence of guilt.

herb,
That's why I was glad they had the tape. It was very damning.
