On Monday September 29th, a gunman burst into the Sharon Credit Union in East Walpole, igniting moments of sheer terror for the tellers on duty that day.

The robbery was captured on surveillance video, it's video you'll see only on Fox 25.

The gunman was fully masked, he was wearing gloves, and from the moment he opened the front door of the bank, the gun was drawn.

Immediately, he ordered all of the tellers down on the floor. But he couldn't see them, so he tried jumping up over the teller counter. All the while, the gun was in plain view.

One of the tellers stood up, and opened the drawers. The gunman stuffed his bag full of cash and took off.

Most bank robberies are note jobs: the gunman passes the teller a note demaning cash. Many times, other customers don't even know the bank is being robbed.

This was different. The gun was drawn and in open view for the entire robbery. While the gunman was loading up his bag he waved the gun around, even put it down at one point. At any time during the robbery, that gun could have gone off.

Luckily there were no customers inside as this went down. But Walpole Police Chief Richard Stillman told me. "If a customer had come in, what would he have done? How would he have handled that situation? This guy was ready to do business. He was ready to commit violence, serious violence. He had a gun in his hand. He was ready to go."

If you know anything about this case, please call Walpole Police at (508) 668-1095.

I don't know which is the bigger shock this morning: the Red Sox taking two games from the Angels, or OJ Simpson convicted on all counts.

Actually, I do know. It's OJ's conviction.

And I'm sure I join the majority when I say, "About Time!"

Like most of you, I remember exactly where I was when the original OJ verdict came in. And it felt like a kick in the teeth. The evidence was overwhelming to me that OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman.

But the Trial of the Century quickly turned into the Circus of the Century and information that had no bearing on guilt or innocence helped OJ's criminal jury reach a radically different conclusion. To me, that verdict, and its speed was a travesty of justice.

The only solace for Ron Goldman's family was the verdict of the civil jury which found OJ liable, and awarded the Goldmans more than 33 million dollars.

But OJ being OJ, he was able to skate away from even that amount of justice by having his NFL pension excluded from the award, thus allowing OJ to continue to live his lavish Playboy lifestyle while thumbing his nose at the Goldmans.

It seemed that's how it would always be for OJ, a celebrity for all the wrong reasons, living out his care-free life on golf courses, always in the company of attention craved Nicole Brown look-a-likes. And always within earshot of everyday people who thought OJ got away with murder.

To be honest, when OJ was arrested in Vegas, I fully expected more of the same. Overwhelming evidence. And another acquittal. Celebrity trumping justice once again. To paraphrase Leona Helmsley I was beginning to think only the little people do time.

And now OJ is guilty. On all counts. It still hasn't sunk in. And this new verdict arrives 13 years to the day that the criminal jury acquitted OJ on the murder charges. Amazing.

OJ will be sentenced on December 5th. He faces the very real possibility of life in prison. You know there will be appeals and this will likely drag on in the courts for years.

But for once, OJ Simpson has been held criminally responsible for a crime.

I never thought I'd see the day.

What about you? What's your reaction to this verdict?

Cardejah Hall
14 Years Old
Missing
February 14, 2008

Take a good look at this picture.

This is Cardejah Hall. She is just 14 years old. Her life has barely begun.

And right now Cardejah Hall is missing from her home in Taunton.

The facts of this case are both troubling and alarming.

Cardejah was last seen on Valentine's Day, February 14th. Her grandfather told me she was kissed goodnight, and then the next morning, she was gone.

Now, Cardejah has run away before, but after a few days she came home. It is now more than seven months later and Cardejah is still missing.

The alarming part of this is that just before Cardejah went missing, she was texting an unknown man. That's right, a man.

Cardejah's grandfather told me he would occasionally have to take her cell phone away because she was texting complete strangers. At one point, a 24 year old man showed up at the house to see Cardejah.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children considers Cardejah an Endangered Runaway. She needs to get away from whatever situation she's in, and returned home.

Please take a good look at this young girl's picture.

If you recognize her, please call Taunton Police at (508) 824-7522.
You can also call the National Center at 1 800 THE LOST.

Thanks for your interest,

Giovanni Gonzalez
5 Years Old
Missing from Lynn MA
August 16, 2008

This week's (9/27/08) New England's Unsolved takes an in-depth look at the disappearance of 5 year old Giovanni Gonzalez in Lynn, Massachusetts.

This is an incredibly frustrating case for law enforcement. Giovanni disappeared during a weekend visit to his father's house. The father, Ernesto Gonzalez, claims he never saw the boy that weekend and he has no idea where Giovanni is right now.

But police say they have witnesses that can place Giovanni with his father on Saturday August 16th, the day after Giovanni's mother, Daisy Colon, handed Giovanni over to his father.

Not only that, but Daisy's memory is crystal clear about the handoff on Friday August 15th. Daisy, as well as top law enforcement, is convinced that Ernesto Gonzales knows exactly what happened. But he's done talking to police.

In fact, Ernesto is held in the Essex County House of Correction on $500,000 bail on a charge of child endangerment. This carries a penalty of two and a half years in jail. And Ernesto is not talking.

Daisy Colon is so frustrated with Ernesto that she recently showed up unannounced at the Essex County House of Correction and met Ernesto face to face. She put it to him point blank: “Did you kill Giovanni?” Daisy told me Ernesto wouldn't look her in the eye, and wouldn't answer the question.

Since I conducted my interviews, Ernesto was in court in Salem on Friday September 26th, looking for a bail reduction. And the state presented some interesting facts.

According to the prosecutor, Ernesto brought Giovanni to a therapy session the day after Daisy dropped him off. A medical professional told police the father was with the son that day.

The search of Ernesto's apartment revealed two small dinosaur toys that Daisy remembers packing in Giovanni's backpack for the weekend visit. The backpack and Giovanni's clothes are all missing.

We also learned that around the time Giovanni disappeared (the prosecutor was no more specific than that) Ernesto moved $14,000 to family in Puerto Rico. Investigators have traveled to Puerto Rico talking to Ernesto's family, looking for Giovanni. But there has been no trace of him.

News reports shortly after Giovanni disappeared talked about a bloody mop and cleaner found in Ernesto's apartment. The test results have come back and it was NOT a match to Giovanni.

Ernesto does not own a car. I'm told he gets around on foot or by bicycle. Dumpsters, graveyards, ponds, warehouses within walking distance and beyond have been searched with cadaver dogs, and it has all yielded nothing.

Now, Ernesto tells police that Daisy has her dates wrong. That what she is remembering is a previous weekend visit. This goes against what the witnesses have told police.

And Daisy's memory is clear. She told me that on Friday, August 15th, as she approached Ernesto's apartment, she called him on his cell and he answered. She parked her car across the street from the apartment, and Ernesto walked across the street to talk to her.

Daisy told me Ernesto looked very tired. She asked if he was OK, and she asked if he wanted to call the weekend visit off. He said no. And he asked about the cane Daisy was using. Daisy explained her back hurt, but otherwise she was OK.

The talk, Daisy said, went back and forth for a few more minutes. Then finally, she got Giovanni out of the back seat of her car. She told him to call anytime if he needed too, and the two said goodbye.

Daisy told me she sat in her car and watched as Ernesto and Giovanni walked into the apartment building together. It was the last she ever saw her son. And he never called her that weekend.

Even at four minutes in length, my New England's Unsolved was too short to get all of this information across. But if you missed it when it aired Saturday night, please check it out here on myfoxboston.com.

I've found wherever I go, people are concerned for Giovanni. Essex County DA Jonathan Blodgett, state and local police, federal authorities are all concerned too. And despite the frustrations of this case, they are not giving up.

If you know where Giovanni Gonzalez is, if you saw Giovanni the weekend of August 15-17, if you saw Ernesto Gonzalez alone that weekend, please call Lynn Police at 781-595-2000.

Thanks for your interest in this case.

Shirley "Tippy" McBride
Missing
Concord, NH
15 Years Old
Last seen July 13, 1984
$5000 Reward Offered

Tonight's New England's Unsolved examines the disappearance of 15 year old Shirley McBride from Concord, NH nearly a quarter century ago.

Most people knew Shirley by her nickname, Tippy. And Concord, NH Police are convinced there are people who know what happened to Shirley, but for one reason or another are keeping it to themselves.

On the night Shirley vanished, she told her sister she was going to visit her boyfriend where he worked at a company called Concord Litho. All these years later, it is still unclear whether Shirley ever made it to her boyfriend's workplace.

There have been sightings of Shirley as close as Lowell, MA and as far away as NY state. But those sightings have never been verified. And Concord, NH Police believe Shirley never left Concord, NH.

It is hoped that our story will remind Shirley's friends that she is still missing, and that police are still trying to find her. Her case is far from forgotten. It is feared Shirley was the victim of foul play. And it is hoped that a quarter of a century has forced Shirley's friends to rethink old allegiances.

If you know what happened to Shirley "Tippy" McBride, or if you've heard from someone else what happened, now is the time to talk.

If Whitey Bulger is sitting on a tropical island somewhere, that might  explain why he's feeling warm right now.

Or it could be the 79 candles on his birthday cake.

Or it might be what the Bulger Fugitive Task Force is doing: turning up the heat.

At a news conference at the Boston FBI HQ, members of the BFTF announced the reward for finding Whitey is doubled. From one to two million dollars for information leading to Whitey's arrest.

Two million dollars for a dropped dime. That's quite a return on an investment.

But there's more.

This reward is open to anyone. And this includes the entire Bulger family. I think it's unlikely anyone from this tight knit family will actually turn in James Whitey Bulger. And so do the feds.

That's why this announcement at the news conference raised eyebrows.

One person eligible to collect a two million dollar payday: Catherine Greig.

Catherine Greig has been travelling with Bulger almost from the day he disappeared.

The feds say that Whitey is so elusive that he planned this escape for years, stashing money in safe deposit boxes, plotting aliases. What about Catherine Greig? Did she know what she was getting into when she hopped into Whitey's car (after he dropped off Theresa Stanley) and drove off into the unknown. On that day, Catherine Greig gave up everything: her family, her dogs, everything. Just to ride shotgun for Whitey forever.

Catherine Greig is wanted for harboring Whitey all these years. But what if she wants to come in? What if she's had enough? Turns out
Catherine can collect two million dollars if she gives up Whitey.

Here's what US Attorney Michael Sullivan said today: " If she hears about this, reads about it, decides at this point in her life she want to come home and be with family and friends and wants to turn James Whitey Bulger in, I think we would welcome the opportunity to sit down and negotiate a reward with Catherine Greig."

Wow.

Of course, Whitey could decide that Catherine is a greater liability than an asset and just finisher her off. But wouldn't that be proof of Whitey's location?

Stay tuned.

And here's one more thing the feds did today to turn up the heat on Whitey. They released new information about Whitey's criminal past.
We already know about the 19 murders, the extortion, the RICO statute etc, etc. Now add child abuse and molestation.

The feds announced that they've interviewed women who have told them that when they were girls, Whitey sexually assaulted them. One of them was 12 years old at the time.

Whitey Bulger is 79 years old. He's been missing since 1995. The last known sighting is 2002 in London. The Bulger Fugitive Task Force is convinced Whitey is alive. And so is Catherine.

But the reality is that they are no closer to finding Whitey today than they were in 1996. They are hoping the new two million dollar reward (the largest offered for a domestic fugitive), plus the appeal to Catherine Greig, and the new information about his criminal past, will compel someone to finally give it up.

What do you think?

Will we ever find out what happened to James Whitey Bulger?

Tonight I met a family that makes me proud to be an American.

In Dartmouth, Mass, I met Philip Dias, his wife Sandy, and their children Matthew and Logan.

Philip is a United States Army Chief Warrant Officer. He is a pilot for the U.S. Army.

On Saturday, Philip is headed to the Middle East. It is his fourth deployment to the Middle East since the terrorists attacked us on September 11, 2001.

This week the Dias family is carrying out a ritual that is all too familiar: helping Philip get ready for six months away.

Philip knows he is missing much. His son Matthew will soon celebrate his eighth birthday. This will be the fourth time he's missed one of Matthew's birthdays.

Yet tonight Philip and his family are not morose, far from it. They are carrying on, playing ball, sharing dinner, doing all the routine things we all do every single day. Yet on Saturday their world will be turned upside down for six months.

Why do they do this? Two words. Sacrifice and Service. Philip is 43, he's been in the US Army for 24 years. Sandy grew up in a military home, her dad served two tours in Vietnam. This is what they do.

I asked Philip how he gets through these separations. He told me it's never easy. But he's hoping his experience will instill values in his sons. Values like responsibility, leadership, integrity.

As Philip told me, "Basically doing what you have to do, even when you don't want to do it."

No matter what you think of the War on Terror, try to think of the Dias family and remember their sacrifice for our country.

I don't run across people like them every day.

And to the Dias family, I say, thank you.

Awoke to some great news this morning.

Michael Bresnahan, one of the state's most wanted fugitives, was arrested in Oregon.

I'm on vacation, so I don't have all of the details.

But I am told that it was a combination of frequent publicity of this case and good police team work on the local, state, and federal levels that  helped lead to Bresnahan's capture.

Some background. Michael Bresnahan was wanted for a brutal home invasion and attack on a retired 61 year old school teacher in Winchendon  in August 2007. I interviewed the woman in March, and she told me she was awoken by a man who put his hand across her mouth,  threatened to kill her, and then attacked her for two hours in her own home.

I'm told that physical evidence recovered from the house pointed investigators towards Bresnahan, but  when they went to arrest him, he was gone.

I covered this story for our New England's Unsolved series in March. I've done several updates since. America's Most Wanted also featured the case, using my interview with the victim. When news broke about a week ago that Bresnahan was spotted at an Oregon Walmart, that got the attention of the local media there.

When I did the first story, it was believed that Bresnahan was still in New England, possibly in Massachusetts or just over the state line in New Hampshire. There were a couple of sightings and investigators hoped that the New England's Unsolved story would flush him out.

Instead  Bresnahan just fell off the grid: no credit cards, no drivers license, no bank accounts, nothing to track him. It appears he made his way cross country going from truck stop to truck stop  hitching rides. In between New England and Oregon there were many opportunities for Bresnahan to earn cash, and I'm sure that's what he did.

When Bresnahan was picked up on a surveillance camera at the Oregon Walmart, he was looking at camping gear. Clearly, this was a guy doing everything he could to stay out of the mainstream, and away from police.

But it didn't work.

The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Unit, the US Marshals, and local police kept up the pressure and now Michael Bresnahan is in jail.

I don't know when he'll be brought back to Massachusetts, but it could be late this week or early next.

Everyone, thanks for your interest in this case.

We'll talk again soon,

Bob Ward

One of the state's Most Wanted Fugitives, Michael Bresnahan, has been spotted in Springfield, Oregon on Saturday August 2, 2008.

These are surveillance pictures of Bresnhan taken at a Walmart where Bresnahan was shopping for camping gear last Saturday.

Michael Bresnahan is wanted for a brutal home invasion in Winchendon, MA on August 30, 2007. You may remember I featured this case on New England's Unsolved earlier this year, and the story included an exclusive interview with the victim.

I was struck by the victim's strength and courage as she bravely recounted the terror of the attack. The victim is a 61 year old woman, a retired school teacher. On the morning of August 30, 2007, she awoke to a man holding his hand over her face and warning her not to scream. She was tied up and assaulted for the next two hours, in her own home.

Police tell me they have strong physical evidence that connects Bresnahan to the attack. And when they went to arrest him, Michael Bresnahan was long gone.

Here is Bresnahan's mug shot. More details just below:

It is believed Michael Bresnahan was in the New England area not long after the attack as there were possible sightings of Bresnahan near Winchendon and also in New Hampshire. But after that Michael Bresnahan completely disappeared.

Until now.

On Saturday, Bresnahan was spotted at a Walmart in Springfield, Oregon buying camping gear. He was also seen hitchhiking on Interstate 5 North. Police believe Bresnahan has been camping in the woods, and when he's ready to move on, he goes to truck stops and catches a lift. You can imagine finding this guy is no easy task.

No one knows where Bresnahan is headed. However, the fact that his last known direction is Northbound in Oregon has compelled law enforcement to put police in Oregon and Washington state on alert.
The Border Patrol has been notified, and so, too, have authorities in Canada.

Michael Bresnahan likes to play the guitar and sing. He has a light complexion and blue eyes.

But he might be best recognized by his tattoos. They are all over his body. And here they are:

Michael Bresnahan Tattoos
Woman's Head on His Chest
Music Note on his Wrist
Panther on Right Upper Arm
Rose Heart on Right Forearm
Eagle on Left Forearm

This guy is considered armed and dangerous. If you know anything about his whereabouts, please call the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Section at 1.800.KAPTURE.

Thanks for your help, and maybe another national manhunt for a Massachusetts fugitive will soon be over.

Manny Ramirez is gone.

And I don't know how I feel about it.

As a lifelong Red Sox fan, one who has lived the highs and lows, this is a weird place to be. Sort of like the long ago day when my old Sears Roebuck bike bit the dust: I was sad, but I knew it was time.

Back when Manny Ramirez signed with the Red Sox I remember thinking how the balance of power had finally shifted in the AL East away from the Yankees and towards the Red Sox. The idea of Pedro on the mound and Manny in LF dared me to dream the impossible, that a World Series Championship might be achievable in my lifetime.

My Sears Roebuck bike was my first big boy bike. It was red, it only had one speed, and it wasn't what you'd call flashy by any stretch. But it was mine. And it was my ticket to a bigger world than I had ever experienced.

Over the years, Manny Ramirez slugged his way into my heart. Yes his game was one dimensional (you'd never mistake Manny for a great outfielder), but when Manny stepped into the batters box I knew this would be something special.

As time passed and I grew older (and bigger) the old red bike wouldn't go so far without the chain falling off, the brakes had a habit of failing, and the handle bar refused to stay in place. But I overlooked all that because I loved that bike.

The baggage Manny Ramirez carried into Fenway was easy to ignore at first. The long hair, the baggy trousers, I didn't like. But the clutch hits, the home runs, they all blinded me to what was going on in the dugout. I was relieved when Manny wasn't traded for A-Rod, or let go a year later when he demanded a trade and then uttered the infamous "Manny Being Manny" line.

I guess I was in denial all those years.

But why not? We won two World Series with Manny.

I never expected to win one.

And now he's gone.

I have no idea if Jason Bay is going to be Manny II or a Fenway bust.

Right now, on this day, Jason Bay is the brand new 10 speed bike in the driveway. I have a feeling this new bike will take me a long way, but I'll always remember what I used to have.

That's why I feel weird today.

In the end, I can only tip my cap to Manny Ramirez.

Good luck Manny. Thanks for 04 and 07.

It was a sweet ride.

That was fast.

We broke the story about the locker room thefts at Walpole's Iorio Ice Arena at Monday night at 10 p.m.

The very next morning, Walpole Police got a phone call from one of the guys caught on surveillance video saying he was turning himself in.

At about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 21-year-old Jeffrey Rubino of Haverhill, walked into Walpole Police HQ and surrendered. He'll be in court first thing Wednesday morning.

It turns out that when our story ran at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., a lot of people recognized Rubino. I'm told friends and family called Rubino, told him they saw his picture on FOX25, and he decided he had no choice but to give himself up.

Police say it was Jeffrey Rubino who hit the locker rooms at Iorio last Friday during the Chowder Cup Tournament, which attracted players from across the US and Canada. The hockey bags of fifteen players were hit, and about two thousand dollars in cash was taken, according to police.

The arena has installed high tech state of the art security cameras and they have caught four young men in the act of ripping off hockey players over the last month. The pictures are crystal clear. And if the other three suspects are still in the area, it won't be long before they get caught too.

Iorio Arena has been getting hit nearly every weekend for a year. And rink officials tell me as much as one hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff has been stolen over that time. Folks over at Iorio are ecstatic over news that there's been one arrest.

Check out the video below:

And if you recognize any of the other three suspects, please call Walpole Police at (508) 668-1212.

Thanks for your support.

Hockey players, hockey parents beware.

Thieves have been striking the Iorio Arena in Walpole at an alarming rate, and now Walpole Police are turning to Fox 25 for help.

Every weekend in July, thieves have been breaking into hockey bags at Iorio while teams are on the ice. They've gotten away with cash, ipods, credit cards, and cellphones.

Just last weekend, Iorio was home to a competition called the Chowder Cup. Players from across the USA and Canada spent the weekend in Walpole facing off against each other. And all the while, thieves were rifling their hockey bags. On Saturday, 15 players were hit, and the thieves got away with about two thousand dollars in cash.

Iorio Arena does provide locks and key for the locker rooms, but many times the doors are left unlocked. And when there's a big tournament, many hockey bags are stashed out of the way beneath the stands.

Iorio has installed a state of the art surveillance system, and the images of the suspects are crystal clear. On Monday night, Walpole police showed me the video and it is also clear that these thieves know exactly what they are doing. First off, dressed in t-shirts and shorts, they look like hockey players between matches. In one image, a thief is carrying a hockey bag and a stick.

Secondly, the thieves time their strikes to when the teams are on the ice. Once they are satisfied the players are elsewhere they swing into action.

Recently one stolen wallet belonging to a coach was discovered on Route 60 in Malden by a construction worker. Maybe this is a clue as to where the thieves are coming from?

The General Manager of Iorio is heartsick about what is happening. He has seen players of all ages victimized by the thieves and he has seen first hand what affect this betrayal has on these mostly young players.

Check out my story here. It contains the images from the surveillance cameras. If these guys are local, there's no question in my mind that someone will recognize them. The images are THAT clear.

If you recognize anyone, please call Walpole Police at 508.668.1212.

And if you are going to Iorio, or any other hockey rink, realize what is happening and secure your stuff.

Want to make sure you all are aware of this story.

This week a Norfolk County Superior Court Jury convicted Robert Chadronet, AKA the Teardrop Bandit, of robbing a Foxboro bank in February 2005.

I covered this story for New England's Unsolved back when the Teardrop Bandit was hitting banks at a ferocious clip. Authorities think he may have struck as many as 18 banks in a little more than a year before he was finally caught! Most of the banks were in Massachusetts, but three of them were located in New Hampshire.

There were so many banks that local police departments formed a task force and made it a priority to catch the guy. In fact, they were actively looking for the Teardrop Bandit when Needham Police saw Chadronet acting suspiciously near a local bank in January 2007. Chadronet matched the description of the Bandit so police moved in. But Chadronet wouldn't pull over for any of the marked cruisers, so police chased him onto Route 128 where rush hour traffic prevented a getaway.

Here are a couple surveillance photos from the Teardrop Bandit's spree.

(Photo: Rhode Island Most Wanted)

(Photo: Rhode Island Most Wanted)

See that mark under the Teardrop Bandit's eye? That's why they called this guy the Teardrop Bandit. For months police were not sure if that mark was a mole or a gang tattoo, but it was something that showed up in most of the surveillance photos.

Here's a photo of Robert Chadronet at his arraignment when he was arrested in 2007. Chardronet lived in Providence, RI.

(Photo: The Sun Chronicle)

Police have told me that notorious teardrop was neither a mole nor a tattoo. They say it was a temporary mark that was applied to the face before a robbery.

It took the jury just five hours to convict Chadronet. Right now he is held without bail pending his sentencing, which will take place on September 9, 2008. Chadronet faces a life sentence.

But this is not Chadronet's only trial. He is indicted for bank robberies in Franklin, Sharon and Needham.

An interesting case, to say the least.

There is a new computer program being made available to local police that could have an impact on all of our lives.

It's called CrimeReports.

This program provides a window into what police are doing in our communities. Here's how it works. Every day a police department's calls are plotted onto a Google Map. The call is represented by a push pin. Click on the push pin and you get a synopsis of the call. Exact addresses and names are omitted for privacy reasons. Rather than an exact address, you'll get a push

So if you see police in your neighborhood and you want to know why they are there, you can log on and find out.

And day after day, week after week, you can actually see what is happening all around you. If there is a rash of break ins, it's there.
Stolen cars? You'll see it. And, armed with that information you can keep a closer eye on your own property, and maybe report some suspicious activity that could help the police.

Right now only two Massachusetts towns: Barnstable and Haverhill are using CrimeReports. It's likely the number of towns will increase, as the program is available to police departments for $99/month.

Check out my story by clicking here. And let me know what you think.

There's been an arrest in one of our New England's Unsolved cases. And it's one of the strangest cases we've ever featured.

Today the FBI arrested 26-year-old Daniel Almeida on federal bank robbery charges for the May 2007 robbery of the East Cambridge Savings Bank on Highland Avenue.

Only FOX25 was there when Almeida was busted. And if you click HERE you'll see just how happy he was to see us.

But let me tell you. This was no ordinary bank robbery.

On May 26, 2007, employees at the branch arrived to find one of the tellers tied up with duct tape to a chair. The bank's vault was stripped of nearly ALL of its cash. The FBI told me it was a substantial amount of money taken.

But there's still so much more.

The teller claims this all started the NIGHT BEFORE!

She said she was kidnapped at a package store in Woburn. She said a gunman recognized her from the bank and slid into her car and ordered her to drive to the East Cambridge Savings Bank and open the vault. She said when she told the gunman the vault is on a timer, he ordered her to drive, for hours, until the timer opened the vault.

The teller said the gunman threatened that he had a partner and that his partner would kill her children if she didn't obey him. So they drove. Through Everett, Revere, Boston. She said they stopped twice. Once at projects in Medford. And later at the Mishewam Projects in Charlestown. At Mishewam, the teller said, a police officer drove by, so the gunman made her leave.

During this entire trip, the teller said, she never saw the gunman because he ordered the rear view mirror tilted the other way.

Once at the bank, the teller says the gunman ordered her to duct tape the security cameras. Then he ordered her to empty the vault, giving her two black duffle bags to fill up.

Bags loaded, the gunman ordered the teller to sit in a chair facing a wall, and he taped her up.

The teller told investigators the only glimpse she had of the guy was a blue medical glove.

When I first reported on this case, the FBI gave me exclusive access to surveillance images taken outside the bank. And they revealed a blurry image of a man running behind the branch.

Today, the FBI arrested Daniel Almeida. The feds say he is the guy who kidnapped the teller, robbed the bank, and is seen in the fuzzy surveillance picture.

And, if convicted, Almeida is looking at twenty years.

But this isn't the end of the case. The FBI tells me more arrests are possible.

I told you this was a strange story!

What do you think?
