Hands Down, and this is coming from a guy who is strongly considering writing his own name in come Election Day.

Getting straight to the point, Joe Biden answered every question and was very clear, concise and honest. He didn't wander off-topic and didn't allow himself to get drawn into a political tug of war. He even want so far as to point out multiple times that there were many occasions in the Senate which he both supported McCain and didn't support Obama. The way Biden did it showed that he had an enormous amount of respect for both Presidental Candidates.

My problem with Sarah Palin's performance has nothing to do with her "status as a Washington Outsider". Rather, it was the fact that she couldn't answer a direct question. It greatly troubled me and in my opinion is a sign of one of two things: A weak will or someone who just goes with someone else's ideas. This is immensely dangerous.

I'm gonna go a bit off-topic here for a bit. Before I do, I want to say  that I've had the opoortunity to talk to John McCain several times in recently years. I love the man and his principles. I simply do not agree with his plans as president.

See, this becomes an issue come Eleciton years. You can't say you're not gonna vote for this person and say you like them. Any other time and it's fine. If you're supporting McCain-Palin, I ask that you look at the facts and don't just vote for someone because of their party, race, or where they're from. It's dangerous, ignorant and just perverts your authority as an American Tax Paying Voter. Interestingly, this is precisely what all Politicians are hoping for.

I'll say the same for Obama-Biden. I'm not happy at all with the fact that Obama wants American taxpayers to bail out Wall street. In fact, I'm sure at this point that it cost him my vote. The current Senators and Representatives are WELL AWARE that the debt the current presidental administration alone will take the next 5 Generations of Americans to pay off. The Bailout simply adds 15 more Generations who are going to be taxed $3,000+ a year on top of what they're already paying for everything else. I'm studying Economy in college this semester and this very issue has my professor concerned, and with good reason.

I hope this doesn't come off as a direct insult to anyone in particular but if you haven't, you might want to take the time to tell your children that when they grow up, ther'e going to be paying bills created without them in mind. Harsh and direct that may be but it's also the truth.

I disagree with you on the debate results. Palin is not a Washington insider with 30 years of debating on the floor of the senate. Of course Biden seemed more knowledgeable on Washington issues. He is part of the problem with government and does not represent change in any way shape or form. He made misstatements and statements that were factually inaccurate. He contradicted his former opinions of Obama from the ones he had during the democrat primary. That tells me that he caved on his principles. That is not a good trait for a prospective national leader.

Palin was coached to raise specific points in support of McCain. Those answers were scripted and predictable. She was able to get under Biden’s skin and his anger showed on his face when she cornered him on his primary statements.

It is hard to deny that Sarah Palin was elected and held the job of executive of a town and a state. Running the country is simply a matter of scale managing many of the same departments. Just ask Clinton. Neither Obama nor Clinton has ever been in command of anything where they had to make important decisions that affect the lives of others. They simply debate and vote on laws along with 99 other senators. Decision are left up to the President to make. At least McCain commanded troops in the Navy and fully understands how the military works and how it should be deployed.

Just as in the presidential debate the American people lost. The moderator failed to get either candidate to answer a question directly.

Between the two candidates I would give the win to Sarah Palin only because Joe Biden with all his experience should have made her look bad and he couldn't do it. If he couldn't do this to a young inexperienced leader of a state how could he stand up to world leaders or even tough politicians in Washington?

Come on people there was no clear winner or loser of this debate. It was rather tame in my opinion especially after all the build up. There were no knockout punches landed by wither candidate. There were no serious gaffs by either candidate. It was plain and simple a draw. After watching that no one was going to suddenly decide to vote for the other ticket and I don't think that it would have swayed any of the "undecided".

I deleted a comment because it gave the assumption that I've already decided who I am voting for.

I'm not voting for either party because right now they've have both shown me that that they believe it's OK to say one thing and then when something makes news they say the opposite.

As of right now I am going to vote for myself.

I don't know if anyone noticed but in my initial blog I stated I wasn't using her (Palin's) "status as a Washington Outsider" as a factor. I simply looked at her as the VP nominee. I apologize if I made it look like I was supporting Biden, I simply liked his performance VS Palin's though it's hard to ignore the fact that 3 of the 4 nominees ARE Senators.

There was also the undeniable fact that both Palin and Biden like and respect each other and their running mates =D

I'm gonna go off-topic a little bit here: What does everything honestly think of the fact that Senators are allowed time off to run for office? If you or me ran for office we'd have ot quit our jobs. Why should our elected officials be allowed to collect pay when they're not working? I'd really like everyone's opinions on this as I think this law needs to change.

I expected much more from a man who has 30 years of experience. I at least expected him to have the facts correct but to no avail. And that great big smile every time he did not like what Palin was saying was entertaining to watch. Palin was far more more confident and enthusiastic in her sincere communication with the people. She spoke more like a neighbor rather than a politition filled with hot air.

If you came into the room while Biden was answering a question, you pretty much had an idea of the question was.

Even listening to the question, after 30 seconds of her" you betchas", it was easy to forget the topic.

But I did like the way she winked at me.

I am afraid you are wrong! Fox News had analysts on after the debate...Biden stated at least sixteen incorrect facts? pertaining to McCain...which will be brought out I am sure...
Palin has not been hanging around the Senate for 30 something years...Biden has...he should have known WHAT the facts were for SURE! Not improvise and tell untruths about McCains voting record...
I feel Palin out-shined Biden by a long shot...she is not the "ditzy" woman Couric and Gibson have made her out to be...
I expect this all of Obama's votes will be for Biden and McCain's for Palin...this is a forty four old female Mayor and presently a Governor
of a State...not some "twinkie" as all of the press has been badgering this woman...
I like Biden, however do not like his running mate...
Sarah Palin has my vote! no doubt about it...

Biden only won with people who want to vote for men who clearly change their opinions to become Vice President. He disagreed with his Presidential running mate on most of his platforms, and once said he'd like ot be John McCain's running mate.

Obama's choice of Joe Biden is the equivalent of Barney Frank asking Bill O'Reilly to be his!!

Someone already posted fox got it wrong. I watched NBC last night, they did not come close to 16. I watched necn this morning and they came up with 3 for Biden.

Of course Biden will get more things wrong because he actually stuck to the topics. Maybe Fox should send a team to the soccer field, which Balin talked about to interview the moms on their answers. Could be some of the moms never said these things?

How about her anwser that she has only been at this for five weeks.

Way to go Nightengale! I too was impressed with Palin's demeanor as she educated the voters, corrected Biden (as needed) and respected her audience. She never lost sight of who was listening to this debate.

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air...finally a national candidate who I cold picture sitting at our camp in NH, talking to my wife about things they share....married to a guy I can picture sitting in a lawn chair nex to ME, talking about what matters to me.

A breath of clean, mountain air!!!

Chip: I agree with you finally. I can only picture her sitting in a camp, talking about things she shares with the common folk. Wasting the day away and thinking about clean mountain air, going to a soccer game and winking at everyone.

But then it is 5:00 p.m. and not much has been accomplished, a typical day for Sarah.

No, TEO...then she goes to work, and understands folks like me...It's safe to say Joe Biden or Barack Obama have no clue what MY life is like....or I wouldn't be listening to the defeatist, Un-American rhetoric I am forced to tolerate.

Obama's never had a freakin' job...

Of course Biden and Obama disagreed. If you have a problem with them, you have one with Palin and McCain. Palin even said last night that see does not agree with everything McCain says. I actually like this in her. McCain as well, states they disgree on items.

Not everyone is like you Chip. Not everyone has the need to make everyone agree with them.
If you fight everyone on every issue, nothing gets solved.

Getting a paycheck from the Senate is a job.
If you were actually involved in the "Chip" program, you would apprecite his work in the community. Obama has spent time with people a lot worse off than you.

I am not sure you understand your life. One day you post you are a retired fire chief, then you are am on call fire chief. Big difference.

Sara Palin didn't answer 3 direct questions asked by the moderator; instead she avoided the question to talk about taxes. I think that was poor judgment on her part. She did the same thing to Katie Couric when Katie asked what do you read, 3 times, and still she wouldn’t answer the question. She didn't even know the Generals name that she was talking about.
Biden could have embarrassed Palin by correcting her and insist she answer the questions, instead he took the high road, because if he didn't, he would have been accused of attacking poor little Sara Palin. Boohoo,Boohoo....C’mon Sara answer the questions!!!!

I enjoyed the debate last night. It was very educational and both did well. I thought Biden did better but Palin has the smarts and potential to be a great debater.

Actually, TEO, I am a retired fire chief who "chiefed" an "call" department. I'm a life member of the fire Chief's Assn. of Mass, because of that retirement. they had a retirement party for ne and everything...la di da...I'm not sure what your ravings about me have t prove..I am who I am, I'm verifiable with a simple phone cal, from the information given in my bio...

But, like most of your ilk...you attack the person and credibility of those who disagree with your ideas, because you cannot justify your ideas. The concepts are not based in fact, but born of a penchant for distrting fact tofit a preconceived mold. If the truth be told, I simply don't cae if y uagree with me...if I'm completely honest, I'm comforted by having you disagree with me. It makes me feel as if I'm doing something right.

What I'm doing here is simply drawing into perspective the distortions the likes of you leave here...the distortions that ruin an otherwise nice word we live in.

I don't attack anyone,at least not first. And i am past that now.

You last statement is a nice attack.

Remember Chip: One statements reflect one's personality. Using the word distorted and preconceived, is usually an image of the author. I won't even go into the other words you constantly use.

Saying, " not much has been accomplished, a typical day for Sarah." about Sarah Palin is a distortion of fact. She has accomplished alot in her 44 years. It is simply fact.

This is my third time saying it:

Who you vote for can be made more fun by thinking of it as trying to decide what brand of pants you're going to buy next.

Do you want Tommy Hillfinger (sp?), Lee, or that new brand no one knows anything about? The people representing these companies all claim their brand is the best one for you. Of course, you've had plenty of practice buying pants so you already know what to look for. I hope everyone sees where I'm going with this.

The same idea can and in my opinion SHOULD be applied to Politics.

You all have a nice day =D
