So, after Tuesday's developments in New York with Matt Walsh and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell pretty much everyone is saying that Spygate is over. We may all want it to be , but in my opinion, for non-Patriots fans there is only one way it will ever end. With another Patriots Super Bowl win.

Clearly, the Patriots are pissed and from their statement on Tuesday it sure sounds like they may be considering legal action against the Boston Herald for John Tomase's story that ran a couple days before last February's Super Bowl. Here is the Patriots statement issued on Tuesday.

"We want to address the allegation that the Patriots taped the Rams' walk through prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. For the past three-and-a-half months, we have been defending ourselves against assumptions made based on an unsubstantiated report rather than on facts or evidence. Despite our adamant denials, the report ran on February 2, 2008, the day before Super Bowl XLII. That game was the second-most watched program in television history and it is unfortunate that today’s news will not also reach an audience of that size. We hope that with Matt Walsh's disclosures, everyone will finally believe what we have been saying all along and emphatically stated on the day of the initial report: 'The suggestion that the New England Patriots recorded the St. Louis Rams' walk through on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 is absolutely false. Any suggestion to the contrary is untrue.'”

While the Patriots "hope that everyone will finally believe what we have been saying all along" concerning the Super Bowl 36 walk through there is only one way that non believers will ever stop doubting the character and integrity of this team and this organization. The only way they can shut doubters up is by winning another Super Bowl. And until they do, they will always be cheaters in many peoples minds.

Your thoughts?

Butch,

My thought is that the Patriots and Patriots fans really don't care what people with no lives think. If they want to believe what they want to believe, it is a free country. No matter how many Super Bowls they win after this, there is always going to be someone out there trying to find the 5th leg to the cat. It will eventually die down just like every other cheating allegation that has ever occurred. Hell, I thought it was hysterical that all of a sudden Barry Bonds is back in the limelight. ALL this time, no mention of him. Now, Spygate is dead and all of a sudden...hello!!....here is Barry again! Pathetic. Roger (Clemens), you're next! Back to the limelight you'll come. :)

Butch,

I agree it should be interesting to see how the Pats legal team proceeds after having the team's reputation dragged through the mud these past three months. As for non-Patriot fans who still think they cheated...no problem there...the Pats against everyone else is a familiar battle cry in these parts.

All you have to do is watch ESPN for 2 seconds to see what non-Pats fans think of this situation. There was no new evidence introduced and the team was already punished for their actions. It's time everyone moves on and focuses on the 2008 season. I need something to make me forget about that Super Bowl loss and the Celtics road woes which all of a sudden seem to be contagious with the Sox recent struggles.

Well, I read this morning that the Boston Herald has apologized for their Feb. 2nd report. I say too little, too late. I fully expect the Pats to go on a rampage against them. They'll think twice next time about 'unsubstantiated' reporting.

The Boston Herald Enquirer should face a lawsuit. Unsubstantiated reports of any kind, about any person(s) or subject should not be printed, ever. I hope the Patriots sue and win big. Apology? Who needs it from a rag such as that? As far as non Pats fans? They'll always be tossing it around whenever the Pats beat their team. I have a feeling Arlen Spector won't let it die so soon either. I hope I'm wrong.

I wrote about my thoughts in my blog today. Check it out. Basically, enough is enough! It's time for Senator Specter to let it go.

Butch; it is truly a shame that the Patriots cannot go after Matt Walsh. He has had his 15 minutes of fame, now he needs to go away. As for the senator from PA, he needs to focus on the problems in the country, which the politicians like him helped create, and leave sports to their commissioners to police. Put the whole mess into a bag with Britney Spears and drop it at all at the curb.

Senator Specter should investigate a REAL sports problem: the vicious Philadelphia Flyer cheap shot that ended Patrice Bergeron's season.

You can see the look of spite in Specters face every time he slowly and gingerly makes his way behind a set of microphones. It makes me nuts, and not only that, but he won't even accept emails from people who don't live in Pennsylvania, so how am I supposed to berate him? Although, what makes me happy is that the Philadelphia Eagles stink, and have no chance of beating the Pats in the rest of Specters short life. So not only are the Eagles attempts at beating the Patriots futile, but so is Specters. That's means, so far in the off season, the Pats are 2-0!! UNDEFEATED!!

What a useless old fossil.

Fax #'s for Arlen Specter:

Washington - 202-228-1229
Pennsylvania - 215-597-0406

Got these from Congress' website. So when email doesn't work faxing may be the next best thing.

Hey June, Jonsmom, and all others, I just popped in to see what's new. I see nothing really has changed. Just to let ya'll know, nobody in Dallas is talking about spygate. It seems to have blown over (at least here).

Did ya'll see the Cowboys are going to be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks again? I heard they wanted the Patriots to be on this year, but they said there were already too many cameras on the sideline. LOL. Just playing, and take care.

Got an opinion? I'd love to hear it....I've got a few myself and there's a pretty good chance you don't agree with some of them, so let's hear from you.
