It never ceases to amaze me how, even after a town spends a fortune putting in bike trails, the cyclists still continue to use the road! As I'm sure anyone who has ever visited the Cape knows, this place is wicked conjested and it's downright dangerous to ride on most roads. In my area numerous bike paths have been constructed alongside the roads with signs indicating it's a bike trail but they still ride on the road and some not too intelligently either! But this isn't the biggest cycling issue I have. My number one issue is the rail trail. It's a wonderful countless mile ride and many visitors and residents as well use the trail. The problem is that the trail does cross some very dangerous intersections and, where indicated, motorists were to slow down or stop for cyclists. However, with the conjestion down here, most of the signs for the motorists to slow down or stop have been removed and now at every intersection a stop sign has been placed in both directions on the rail trail. But guess what? They don't stop! They don't even slow down, they just shoot right across the road like they have the right away. And why is this?! Are they arrogant, love playing chicken or just plain stupid? My dad would have paddled my behind if he ever caught me riding my bike like that! I wish I could write tickets for some of these biking idiots.
Well if anyone reads this and is inspired to come to the Cape with their bicycles, I just ask, please, give us residents a break and use the trails!
