Drew's hot and cold.
Back in 2003 I went to the 13 inning game that the Soxs played against the Cardinals at Fenway. I sat on the first base side up towards the back where the visiting teams travelers sat. I have to tell you, the Cardinal fans are not only knowledgable about baseball, they are some of the nicest people I'm ever met at a sporting event.Sorry, I digress. Back to the game, it featured Jeramy Giambi batting like his arms were duct taped together and Trot Nixon's stellar performance as he left 12 runners on base. The fans I say with weren't real kean on Manager Tony LaRussa, but were really dismayed with a guy named JD Drew.It seems he had held out for more dough and seem fragile. By the end of the ninth inning I had Giambi, Nixon and Grady Little going to the Cardinals for LaRussa and Drew. Drew homered in the top of the tenth and queered the whole deal. The sox came back to tie it, but lost it on a Jim Emmunds three run homer in the 13th. The bright spot was that due to the bench being depleted Little had to call on a guy named David Ortiz who promply doubleds high off the lefty field wall. Don't even get me started on what Little did in the playoffs with Pedro. If Larussa came to Boston in 2003, the Sox win the World Series. J.D. Drew is a curse.
