Did you know... today, November 7, 2007 is 'cross-quarter day'- so what's that you might be wondering. Well if you check your calendar... it's exactly halfway between the fall equinox (9/23/07) and the winter solstice (12/22/07). Huh... who knew. Guess that means we're that much closer to winter. Tell that to the people in Buffalo, NY where they picked up close to a foot of lake-effect snow yesterday... and it's still snowing there today. Signs of winter here too... lots of 20s this morning and frost- even a little black ice leftover from yesterday's rain. Oh, and while we were getting rain here yesterday, they picked up 10.7" of snow on top Mt. Washington.
In ancient times... cross-quarter days had a bit more significance. They would actually begin the season on these days instead of having it be the midpoint of a season. All I know is personally, I'm that much closer to having my baby. About 4 and 1/2 more weeks to go... winter can't come soon enough for my this year!
