Morning All,

Back from a long weekend and wanted to share this thought with you and see if you agree.
Sometimes it takes being away from something for awhile to appreciate it.

I grew up in southern Maine and went to college in Vermont. When I lived in Florida, I couldn't wait to come back. I'm a New England girl, there's no denying it. After six and a half years, I now consider Massachusetts my home. I've grown accustomed to all the people, all the cars, all hustle and bustle of metro Boston, and I like it.

This weekend, I went up to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont to spend some time with old friends for alumni weekend (I got my meteorology degree at Lyndon State College). I really had forgotten how beautiful it is up there. The weather was perfect, the leaves are just starting to change, the landscape is untouched. My favorite part of the weekend was watching the sun drop behind the mountains from an Adirondack chair, very relaxing!

It was nice to slow down the pace for a couple of days. Now, back to reality!

-Cindy

After living in Florida for a total of 10 years I have to agree with your observation, Cindy. The change of seasons is refreshing. Just when I can't take cutting the grass or watering my flowers anymore, fall is here and I don't have to! School is back in session and the cooler nights make for good sleeping. The smells and colors of fall are so theraputic. Too bad it will soon be gray and cold; but then we have spring to look forward to as well as the first day we can go barefoot in the sand. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Not quite the northeast kingdom, but did spend 4th of July weekend at Smugglers Notch in Vermont. It was my first summertime experience in the state, and loved it.

My dad spends practically half of autumn up in the Woodstock region of Vermont taking pictures of the beautiful colors, he loves it up there. He loves the foggy mornings and the dew glistening on the tips on the leaves and blades of grass, along with the crisp dry weather.

After spending a few but sweltering 10 days in the tropics and Florida this summer, we welcomed the New England weather upon returning. The changing of the seasons, the temperature variations and going from shorts and tshirts to putting on the fleece wear for the first time of the season. We certainly have it great here in this corner of the country, one way to appreciate it more is to get away for just a little while, then come back.

I agree with you all... it's the change of seasons that I think I appreciate most- on a personal level and forecasting too.
I think we'll appreciate the return of sunshine more by Monday after all the rain we have coming our way starting Thursday night!
