Does this happen at your house? ... please tell me I'm not the only one!

So after several days in the 50s and and even cooler nights, we finally gave in and turned the heat on at our house. Every year, my husband protests this ceremonial moment and typically there is frost on my nose by the the time it happens! Usually, there is a large battle if it is attempted before the 15th of October -- sometimes even the 1st of November! (My husband is all about the calendar... I'm all about the thermometer, call me crazy.)

Not this year! I'd like to think it was because it was my birthday and he took pity on me... or perhaps because of our 9-month-old (I'm still not comfortable putting a blanket in his crib). But alas, I'm pretty sure it's because my parents were visiting and he didn't want THEM to freeze.

The beauty of this time of year though is the variability, not only from morning to night, but also from day to day. Heaters ON tonight- in the 30s. Heaters OFF Wed/Thu 70 degrees. Got to love those automatic thermostats!

Happy Fall All,
Cindy

Happy Birthday Cindy! I hope you're having a good one. God knows you've got a lot of birthday competition--it seems like half of the population was born in October! I'm guessing you're...what-? 29?

As for the heat...we really kind of needed it last night, but we didn't relent; we stuck to our promise and kept it off until we just cannot stand it anymore. ...Extra blankets...
But we definitely would have liked having it on last night. Man, it was freezing!
...Good thing I spent my teen-aged years in Farmington, Maine...I can withstand the bite of the cold better than most people I know who have lived in Massachusetts their whole lives! And yeah, Cindy...I went to summer school in Madison...had some (now erstwhile) friends there.
Maine is the best. If it weren't for wifey, I'd most certainly go back there. I'm jonesin' to climb Mt. Battie! Coastal route #1 is the best...Rockland, Belfast, Camden...talk about a gorgeous ride in these autumnal months!

Cindy, when he starts going to work in the middle of the night, then he can decide. Until then, turn it up. It's cold at 3AM.

First off, Happy B-Day!! 22 years old? 23? Second, why would your birthday be the reason he gave in this year and not in the past? I'm assuming it's the same day every year or are you celebrating your 2009 birthday in June? Third, it was frickin' freezing one night last week, Thursday I think, so there's no way you couldn't have the heat on at least a little. You would've had a little more than frost on your nose last week with no heat, you would've looked like Nicholson at the end of The Shining. As a general rule of thumb the guy is always right in a relationship no matter what, but I'll take your side this one time.

Happy Birthday, belatedly. I'm glad you won the battle of the heat. I haven't put my heat on yet, but I've been thinking about it. So far I've survived with just some extra blankets on the bed.

P.S. I hope the heat wasn't your birthday present.

22... 23... 29! Wow!! You guys are too kind. I'll just leave it at 'those were some good years'. :) and no Janine - the heat was not my gift. 'My boys' suprised me with a beautiful necklace.
And... for the record- heat still on AND extra blanket this morning. It IS chilly at 3am!
Enjoy the sunshine!
Cindy

Cindy,

So then you turned 30? You couldn't be older than that...I saw you on the Plymouth waterfront. If you're older than 30, you should do a segment called "Cindy's anti-aging secrets."

Cindy,

It's so warm now. Your furnace going on may have started runaway global warming! I turn mine on when the indoor temperature falls below 60 F. and then rebounds to only 65 F. I'm no tomato!
