I have a feeling that sound... (that's supposed to be the sound of a camera BTW in case you were confused) will be a common one around New England this weekend. Columbus Day weekend is typically a peak time for foliage viewing and this year will not disappoint. A deep blue sky will make a beautiful backdrop for all the brilliant fall color. Many areas around New England are at or near peak now... but closer to the Canadian border we are a bit past peak. Click here for a more detailed look.

Wherever your going this weekend- take a moment to look around and enjoy... soon enough those leaves will be on the ground. -Cindy

Cindy, and here I thought you were quoting the newest NKOTB single, "click click click"! :-)

Great holiday weekend weather + splashes of fall foliage = why we love to live in New England

Cruising up route 2, looks to be spectacular colors.

Have a great weekend!

Cindy,

I have to agree the colors a beatiful this time of year. There's a tree across from where I work that I call my season indicator. This one tree has so many colors, it looks like the leaves were painted just so. But as you said in your last line, enjoy the sights now because soon the leaves will be on the ground. I hate to think about that, it's depressing.

Funny how the sound of today's camera shutters are no longer genuine, but are instead made by skeuomorphs.*
But we'll still be snapping photos of something VERY genuine--and one of my favorite enjoyments in life--the vibrant beauty of the year's most gorgeous season.

Don't get depressed, Janine_L. Take a page from Graham's photo album. Every season has beauty. We are fortunate in New England to experience it all.

So, snap away and snap out of it. The leaves are beautiful when they turn color, whether it is fall foliage or the first green of spring. Snow, freshly fallen, has it's own magical quality. Enjoy the sights now, yes, but look forward to the sights to come.

I didn't hear much click click but I did hear a lot of sploosh sploosh (that's supposed to be the sound of teardrops hitting my 401K statement as I was reading it) this weekend. Fortunately the nice weather has helped me forget my financial misery for the time being...keep it up I could live with this weather for another six months or so.

Thanks for making me look up 'skeuomorphs' Graham_Cracker. I learned something new today!

Glad I could help & I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you're not being "secretly sarcastic!" ;)
I can't stand the skeuomorph on my cell phone. I have to attempt to be stealthy when I take photos of my wife since she doesn't like to have her picture taken, and the stupid thing gives me away!

No sarcasm... I was being serious! I don't know what my husband did to our digital camera... but everytime it takes a picture now it barks! and I can't figure out how to change it... it's kind of embarassing- but the kids like it!

...Sounds like your husband is as clowny as I can oftentimes be.
When the novelty wears off and the kids don't think it's funny enough anymore, he'll probably change it to something even more embarrassing...brace yourself! ;)
