Yep... 3.5" of it on this date back in 1876.  Yikes!!  You know what that means though don't you?  It's getting to be that time of year.  It can happen and eventually it will.

With our recent mild stretch it's a little tough to imagine but with colder air coming in for Friday and the weekend it will see will seem a little less 'unimaginable'.

Typically in Boston, we see our average first trace of snow on November 4th... but we've seen it as early as October.  I believe we had a trace of snow in Boston on Oct 8, 2001 and we had 0.2" on October 10, 1979.  Blue Hill picked up 7 inches that day and Worcester measured 7.5".  Last year we didn't have any snow in Boston during the month of October, but picked up 1.1" back in 2005 on October 29th.

So what are your thoughts?  Are you ready... or wishing it was still 80 degrees... excited or dreading it?   Personally, I wish it would stay just like this (colorful leaves on the trees and all) for a just couple more months.

Ready or not... you know it WILL come (eventually).

Enjoy our run toward 70 degrees today!

I'm enjoying the weather and the folliage right now. It seems like lately both spring and fall are too short. Hopefully we stay without snow until all the leaves have fallen and I've had a chance to rake them up. Leaf piles are fun for the whole family.

I really enjoy the change of seasons, Cindy, but snow is another story. The later it snows the better:) Fall is my favorite time of the year, and I plan on enjoying the fall foliage this next week as I drive through upstate NY to visit my mother. I'll take some pictures and post them on my blog for others to enjoy!
The snow can wait til Christmas!!

I remember just a couple of years ago it snowed pretty good here, in Fall River, one weekend before Halloween.

I don't mind the warm weather, but I do enjoy the snow when it comes. If it never snowed, I would miss it and if were 70 degrees and sunny everyday, I would get bored. haha

I don't mind the thoughts of snow, but I don't look forward to the long days of winter when we have so little sunlight for such short periods of time.

I wish we could bottle up last weekend's weather for the next few months, it feels like our fall weather is lasting longer than our spring, which felt like it never came in the first place!

Looking forward to snow, but as comedian Steve Sweeney put it, snow is all relative: the first snowfall of the season and snow for the holidays is beautiful; snow in March and April, and well, fill in the expletives!

Only in the 50s this weekend?? Brrr! Gotta dig out the thicker coats!

Sound like you all are enjoying what we've been 'dished out' as of late.
I'll let you know when the menu is about to change!
