HEY FOLKS,

Been a while since doing weather in here.

FLOOD WATCH FOR THE AREA ! ! ! ! !

I have stated to a few people I know and have check on my own. It will be kind of close. But I do not think we will see the amount mentioned. I see we could expect around 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches total when said and done in and around Essex County, NJ.

Maybe a dusting to a half inch of snow by friday morning. Before it finally pulls away.

Be ready for standing water on the roads later thursday. Really!!

HEY FOLKS,

I made a "GOOD DAY NY" pumpkin and a "FOX 5" pumpkin late thursday night (Oct. 30th). I gave fair time notice about the four photos. But it never made it on the Good Day NY show.

They said they would look at it.

Me not happy!

Snow....In October. Days before Halloween. Wow! Before 12 noon on tuesday, October 28th. Got snow reported in Warren County, west Morris County, a bite piece of Sussex County, Hunterdon County and parts of Somerset County. A bubble of cold air is slowly moving east and southeast as I can see it. Will the snow make it to Essex County. Will keep an eye on this one all day long.

I do not the temp in northeast section of Essex County is slowly dropping. Currently at 42.3 degrees and breezy outside here. Still raining out. Had lighting and thunder early this tuesday morning.

Will my area see snow forthe first time Shall see when the temp reaches the freezing point.

Snow before Halloween. How strange is that?

I hear the winter of 2008-09 will be pretty cold and white. Again.......Let's see if that come true. That was said in the past few years. Instead...we wind up getting a mild winter.

BikeMike is always on the air folks!!!

A report of a tornado in the North Brunswick and New Brunswick area around 4:30pm this afternoon. Still a slight risk as a rotation was reported by a Bloomfield Radar at 5:04pm.

Severe T'storm Warning is now in effect for Essex County.

This storm so far can hack out hail from nickel to large size, heavy rain and strong wind. Cloud to ground lighting.

Be prepared and if you psot a tornado. Go to the lowest area of your home.

I am having a good summer. How about you guys? Hope everyone in Blog and Fox 5 NY are having a good summer.

As I see it right now. A 50% chance of a t'storm and it slowly increases it chances as we turn to Wednesday, July 23rd. So I be prepared for a possible severe storm today and a bit higher possibility for a bad severe storm tommorrow. Being prepared is better then NOT being preapred.

Can pop up anyplace in New Jersey for this tuesday afternoon. More so for tommorrow.

Currently . . . . storms trying to form just west of Allentown, PA and is along Route 80 at 2:07pm.

ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!!!

June 11, 2008 at 12:23am dst Hey Folks,

Hope you all made it through the microburst storm tuesday night.

I have not ever seen a storm like that in a very long time. My friend from Nutley said she was out and got caught in the storm. Said it hailed when she was picking up her son. I believe her. Because I heard a lot of clicks from the front window.

I was standing outside watching the distance lighting. Watched as it grew closer and closer. Then the wind slowly picked up. It got strong enough. Where it was pushing me. Then it started to rain. Soon I got inside of my kitchen door. The wind really got bad. The trees was moving one way. Branches and leaves coming off. Lighting all over. Power flicking on and off throughout the storm. I am watching branches flying across. Leaves filling up the fire escape near by.

I finally got out the door to check on a old lady. Power is fully out.

I saw on J******* Street. A top of a tree down on the street. I went with my friend to see what damage in area. She said a fire in Bloomfield. Off of Watchung Ave. A light pole down in the middle on Bloomfield Ave in Nutley. Right near De Vaushey Place. Go up Vaushey Place and you will see a tree on top of a house. Pass that and make a left. You will see a entire tree on the street. Hoover Street is flooded with water. By Brookdale Cemetary.

A lot of trees down. Expect street closing in the area.

It felt like a mini tornado came through. But I doubt it. I think it was more like a micro burst. Straight line winds mostly. Very strong wind.

Will take photos in the morning to post on here. Hope Fox 5 NY will use a few of the photos I take from Belleville and Nutley area.

HEY EVERYONE,

It been awhile since typing on weather. I love weather the most of all.  Been busy with a lot of things and cycling. Got a Multiple Sclerosis 170 mile bike tour next weekend.

Anyway, at 11:19am this friday morning. It looks like most of the heaveist rain is out over the ocean. To the east and south of the NYC metro area. Bulk of it is moving northeast. So, I do not think we will get the expected 2 or more inches of heavy rain for Essex County and surrounding counties.

Long Island should look out for sure on the heavy rain shortly.

Wind could pick up later today in all areas.

Be safe everyone and drive carefully. Do not go out. Unless you really need to.

HEY EVERYONE,

It begins the first sunday of March and ends the first sunday of November. Daylight Saving begins this sunday, March 9th.

I like the new longer Daylight Saving Time. Better for me on my bicycle. Like having longer afternoon time for cycling.

What does the new Daylgiht Saving Time mean to you? Does it mess you up or confuse you of anyway? Could it be annoying to you?

Say your peace here.

HEY FOLKS,

Snow started in Belleville, NJ about 1:24am. Quickly giving the cars a light coating. Then a short later the grounds got a coating. I gone to bed.

I wake up to a lot of snow during the light hours of friday. Wow! Wonderful outside for sure.

Went out to shovel and measure.

At 11:11am it was 6.5 inches of snow. Snowing pretty good outside.

But a suprise to me. The main road not far from me looks fair. Not white. A tad dark color slush. Wow!

Then just after 12 noon. The snow was mixing with sleet.

12:57pm....it was 6.7 inches of snow on the ground.

Now the snow is sticky enough to make a snowman for sure. So get out there and make one already. Before it turns to ice later tonight.

Now it is a light mix and almost to rain at 3:28pm on this friday afternoon.

This is now the largest amount of snow from one storm this season. That is for sure.

UPDATE: 6 photos are up from Feb. 22, 2008 storm. Look for it in CycleMikeNJ  "Weather Related Photos" album.

ENJOY!!

HEY FOLKS AND FOX 5 NY,

From Belleville, NJ area.

We have gotten 2.9 inches of snow at 8:09pm.

The snow quickly changed from snow to sleet about 7:17pm. A short time after....it mixed with rain.

Right now it is still sleet mixed with a bit of rain at 9:43pm. The temp is still pretty cold at 26.4 degrees.

ALSO RIGHT NOW......9:58pm with 3.3 inches of snow and sleet top layer.

TRAFFIC NOTE: After 2pm on Franklin Ave. Not far from Clara Maas Hospital. Near the Belleville and Newark border. A dark color pick up truck messed up it axle by sliding into the curb.  The right side wheels bent out of shape for sure. There was a coating of snow on the ground around that time.

IF YOU HAVE TO GO OUT THE DOOR WEDNESDAY MORNING. PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL. AS WE COULD GET HEAVY RAIN. ROAD STILL BE SLIPPERY BY SUNRISE.

HEY,

 update on tuesday......jan 22, 2008 10:08am est.............

The Weather Channel must be having a problem. No sound and was repeating radar and rotationg forecast. for over an hour. Must be having a big problem at the Weather Channel Headquarter in Atlanta, GA. Maybe having problems at a Weather Channel hub stations up here. Who knows? But no people reporting weather up till the time I hit my pillow at 1:30am.

I noticed the problem when I ckicked to the channel about 12:25am est.

At 10:08am est this tuesday morning. Problems still for Weather Channel in my area. No Local on the 8's or local weather scroll at the bottom of the screen. But people doing live forecast is back on the air. Comcast Weatherscan is running, but still jumpy from lastn ight.

Must have had a system crash last night for the area Weather Channel hub. Any channel that the Weather Channel owns will not be stable for awhile in this area. Not till they fix the bugs.

Currently it is 9:52pm on sunday night of Jan 13th, 2008 and I did a little homework here on this storm.

I now do not think Essex County of NJ, east of Essex County and south of Essex County will see a lot. I see no more then 2  to 5 inches of snow as of now.

Northwest of NJ might see 3 and struggle to 5 inches.

Have to head into NY state, CONN, RI and MASS  to see that big snow amount that was predicted.

Currently raining in Essex County, NJ at this time. Which is 9:52pm. Snowing it Scranton, PA

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jan. 13, 2008 11:49pm est....................

Snow reported ontop of the Empire State Building after 10:30pm. Above 1,000 feet by a friend from a area weather station.

Still raining in Belleville, NJ in Essex County at 11:49pm at 36.3 degrees. Snow reported about the West Orange area of NJ.

I do not think my area will even see the predicted snow amount mentioned earlier sunday. By 12noon monday.....Belleville and surrounding area should get between 1 to 3 inches of snow.

Another flop in getting a lot of snow for the area.
