Recently we aired a story about probiotics and how they've really helped some people get rid of allergies, strengthen their immune system and helped with digestive health... also we interviewed a woman with an autoimmune disorder who says they've helped her live symptom free.

Probiotics are microflora, good or "friendly" bacteria... and recent studies show that by adding them to your diet either in supplement (capsule) form or by trying the new products on grocery store shelves like dannon activia, they've been proven to work for some.

As someone living with Celiac Disease probiotics have helped me, but they are not for everyone and certainly you should consult a doctor if you're thinking about adding them to your diet... What do you think? Have you tried them? Did they work for you? I'd love to hear your thoughts:)

Diana,
I've never tried the Probiotics,
I've been going so far 47 years I figure
just play the cards that are dealt you.
However I'm not saying everyone should do as I do, because each case is different.

You should Blog more often, But always
great to see a new face.

It seems to me one of the greatest contributing factors of so many people today having allergies and digestive problems is that we have a few generations of people that have been getting way too many antibiotics for treating everything from colds to ear infections.

In addition, if antibiotics are not taken as prescribed...meaning taking the full amount recommended...they become ineffective in our bodies and lead to having to take stronger and stronger ones. People forget that antibiotics not only kill the bad 'germs', but the good ones, also. And that can lead to a temporary weakening of our immune system to other infections.

I have always been ademant about not using an antibiotic for every little thing and allow my body to fight off germs before running to a doctor. If you see things getting worse than better after a few days, yes, see a doctor. But, our bodies DO have the ability to produce antibodies, so at least give it a chance! I have never had allergies and can't remember the last cold I had and have only had the flu once many years ago. And I'm happy to report that my digestive tract is working great and I'm prescription-free thus far! :)

Thank you for your comments... i think you're definitely on to something and doctors would agree. I try not to take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary! Sometimes it can't be avoided. It seems as thought it's a circular problem... the stronger your immune system the less you need the antibiotics... anyway, great advice.
