After hearing the fox4 segment on people being killed by vehicles riding bikes, I believe we need to speak up for the frustration of a driver who has to always try to avoid these people. Now it goes without saying I feel bad for people who lose their family members to these accidents, but some of the responsiblitiy needs to be pushed back on these bikers. It alway amazes me how careless many of these bikers are by assuming that they should share the same rights as cars. Granted, the law may say they have the right away, common sense says you are not the same as a car. You may travel upwards around 30 mph..(guess there), a car travel much faster. You total weight may be around 150-200 lbs (for an adult), a car weight almost 3 to 4 thousand more. And now some lady said we need stiffer penalities for peope who hit bikers.

The point is this:

  • You are on a bike that goes much slower, if it's a two lane road and cars are moving faster, do not block the full lane for your stupid bike.
  • Not all car drivers are crazed drunk maniacs that could care less on what goes outside the their car. Bikes are hard to see and 99.999% of the time you'll be on the losing end of any collisions.
  • Just keep your huffy's off major roads where cars are, honestly, the fast road is not place for your bikes. We can make laws left and right but you are going to die almost every time you collide with a car. You can legislate common sense

Not only is letting some employees tele-work a few days of week helping ease the pain of higher fuel cost, letting employees work saves the environment. Sun Microsystems has discovered that:

  • Employees saved more than $1,700 per year in gasoline and wear and tear on their vehicles by working at home an average of 2.5 days a week.
  • Office equipment energy consumption rate at a Sun office was two times that of home office equipment energy consumption, from approximately 64 watts per hour at home to 130 watts per hour at a Sun office.
  • Commuting was more than 98 percent of each employee's carbon footprint for work, compared to less than 1.7 percent of total carbon emissions to power office equipment.
  • By eliminating commuting just 2.5 days per week, an employee reduces energy used for work by the equivalent of 5,400 Kilowatt hours/year.
  • Working from home 2.5 days per week saved the employees in the study an average of 2.5 weeks of commute time (8 hours/day, 5 days/week).
  • News Release

    Eco Responsibility

Putting your cans in the recyle bin can't compare to the shift in attitudes toward many employees that do not need to be clogging the highway system every  morning getting to an office just to please some old foggy that thinks a butt needs to be in the seat in front of him.

Gee, Gas cost me 50 bucks a week right now. No, I don't own an SUV, but I have approached my employeer about allowing us to work at home 1 or 2 days a week or working 4 10 hour days.. this is the response. "We dont' care how much it cost you to fill up your car, and you should be working 5-10's" Maybe we need to start tagging stupid companies that are not willing to lift a finger to help employees out with this fuel crisis, we should start tagging companies that dont' really care about the environment. They can claim they are green and love earth, but truth is they only care about their bottom line and macro managing employees.. I am a flipping IT worker. I serve no purpose being in the office 5 days a week.  I do recognize not all people can work at home, but come on, if we as society could get 20% of employees at home we'd free up a huge amount of congestion, plus providing less carbon emmissions that polute the environment.. I work for a big employer in wyndotte that provides health care.. do your math, but shame on them for treating people this way! Shame on this piss poor attitude that serves no purpose but to hurt people.

I frequently both weather sites and enjoy them both a lot. I do wish FOX4 would blog more often, in fact, kudos to Joe, he really stepped up to the plate with us bloggers during this last storm and that is awesome.

AS for the LRC, I'm not 100% convinced. I'm not saying there is a cycle or is not a cycle. I'm not skilled enough in metorology to figure out either way. I like 99.99999% of the folks using the blog just a arm-chaired weather guy. There have been a few people who have asked question to gary about his theory which for the most part he repeat's the same line: A pattern sets up between blah blah yada yada yada.. One guy, "notes_in_the_margin" ( or something like that ) said once that if you took a map per map look at a time frame there was obvously not a pattern, yet Gary claimed there is, and the fan base will blast you if question it. Gary has yet allow a good peer review of this theory, and until he does, it would probably be best that us arm-chaired folks quit trying to flame both stations.

You people (fans of weather) are going to have to clam da flip down! This last week some moron was blasting Mike and Joe left and right for everything they did, and this is a HUGE distraction from getting important information. Most of us KNOW that forecasts change frequently when more information comes in, Mike and Joe know that they may have to change a forecast 24 hours later because that is how this game is played, but posting hate on a blog doesn't help anybody. I want their expert opinions, regardless if its something I want to hear or not. I want to be able to get expert opionion from the competition, regardless of what a arm-chair weather person says.

The point I'm trying to make, before you post your flippid ignorance on a blog space blasting a weather person, THINK about what your typing, because Joedirt, you did NOTHING but look like a complete retard on this blog. I can't possibly understand your logic because your complaint flip-floped more than the forecast did by all stations, your only goal was complain to mike and joe about their jobs because this blog gives you the ability to have them actually read your drivel..

I have not written a blog in a while, but I feel the need to rant over what is so obviously injustice's with the family court system. There is someone in my family that has 3 kids and struggles the best he can on a very little salary to make ends meet for these children. More often than not, he fails to provide.. But the Missouri Family Court system refuses to enforce child support on the mother. They will not put this "dead beat mother" in jail or whatever. And you know beyond a shadow of a doubt he'd be in jail or wages garnish'd if his mother had "primary" custody. Let's be honest.. These children suffer because of inaction by judges and a system employed by worthless human beings. Now he has DFS knocking on his door because of the conditions the children live in. I see these kids regularly and it's not a great life, but they are happy children.  When is enough enough? We need some serious reform when it comes to old used up has been failure judges and a legal system that takes a dump on justice. I know from my experience I pay a huge butt load of child support to my ex.. so my daughter from this ex, and my child from my current marriage struggle because of this failed system.  There is a very warm place in hell for these judges and lawyers that have made money of the pain they have inflected on children and families.. and yes, I am mad.... Maybe if they'd enforce child support against dead beat mothers he'd be able to provide a much safer environment.. But God forbid that mother''s should be held accountable to their children..

    pffft.

Ok, this is a great album! The White Stripes are back this summer with a new album and I believe they have out done themselves since the last album "Get Behind Me Satan' was a tad of a let down. Jack and Meg White may not be Simon's vision of an American idol, but the chemistry between these two can not be beat.

As Amazon reports "The White Stripes are back with the most bombastic album they've ever produced! While revealing the band's roots in American folk music, Icky Thump is an explosive, revolutionary assault that brings together garage rock, every blues style of the past 100 years, nouveau, and flamenco. This is truly a modern rock and roll masterpiece!"

I'm saying, if you looking for what has got to be one of the best albums this summer, then pick up Icky Thump.. you won't be disappointed.

Quit wasting time on 70 hwy busting speeders because your speed limit is 10 miles lower than the rest of the highway. Just today we had a small backup because some pig decided to bust a speeder during rush hour. For those who don't know, I-70 from downtown to I-435 is only 55. Which is out of sync with the rest of the highway, so what the police do is sit on the manchester busting people who don't quickly adjust to the speed change. I don't see this is actually doing anything that helps society. Is this what you wanted to do to serve and protect society? bleh on you. Go eat a donut, go find another abducted rich white girl. I know, jordan will be mad because I don't approve of what some police do, but once again, I don't agree with using the police force as a mode of revenue. Don't you have more important things to do? Guess not..

I really hope they find this girl alive. But, at the severe risk of sounding insensitive, why is it only the pretty white missing girls make the news? Don't get me wrong, I totally have concern about what these parents are going through, and from their perspective, they don't care one bit how one sided the media is, they just want their child back, and rightfully so, but come one. There are tons of child abductions around the country, and only the pretty ones make the news. This is so flippin obvious to us viewers that on one side of the cheek you tell us how we need to look at everyone the same, but then when these abductions happen, it' s only the young johnson county white girls that make the news. Was that a fine print rule for the amber alert?

My gut says they will find this girl alive, and I hope they smack the living crap out of the person who did this. But shame on you media people who selectively choose what children are more important to put up on the news. Us viewers know what your doing and we are calling you down on this.

This is one of these personal things I'm gonna share. I am becoming a hypochondria! How can I break this cycle? I swear, every weird symptom I get, I'm racing to the internet and looking it up on webMD or something...  and was is the result of all symptoms on the Internet? CANCER! I'm only 36, soon to be 37 on Tuesday and I want my life back, I want to stop thinking about every bad thing that is in the news that I will die of and starting enjoying life more. This is ridiculous. I've had these pin size red things on my arms and chest for years.. well last night I diagnosis my self with Luekiuma...Not to mention I've had blood test in the last 6 months and they said it looked fine.. plus my feet hurt.. I'm a big guy...but it sure has to be the big C.... bleh..  My mind needs a rest!

Maybe this should be a new fox story segment? The growing number of internet hypochondriac's...Who else has this problem??

    NervousWill Said :

Former KC Mayor announed her candidacy for US Representatives.  Good for her.  From a rural Missouri point of view, she appeared to be a great mayor, classy and dignified.  And I think she was good for Kansas City.  I hope she has the back bone to withstand the personal attacks which are sure to start coming soon from her oppenent and his campaign manager.  She would serve NW Missouri very well in the US House of Representatives.

Now you may respond to this.

Mr. Nervouswill, do not create blogs that people can't respond to. This does not make you look good in the bloggers community.

I found this interesting article over at MSN Money site, Customer Service All Of Shame. Guess who was Number one on this list? Yes, you got it.. Sprint.. Yea! *golf clap*.. I'm not surprised.. This kind of BS comes from the top of a company. As I've said before, to correct these problems one needs to start by canning senior management. Take Jiffy Lube, another station (not going to mention name)  caught them red handed fibbing to customers and selling them stuff they don't need.. This is a problem from the top. It appears that mostly the slick suit and tie liars get the important jobs at the top of the companies and start setting the focus toward stock holders and ignoring the customers and employees. Good business plan..

Sprint has a HUGE problem on their hands, not only are customers extremely unhappy, they keep laying off employees and guaranteeing that they'll never be able to hire quality minded people.  Esry walks away with a multi-million dollar deal and leaves the company in shambles.. Good Job Esry, you thief! Sprint has this unethical way of extending your contract another 2 years if you call them for any reason. I'm sure some jerk can explain how "well you gotta read the fine print, or whatever." sure, Sprint you gotta read the fine print here, customers hate you for this and they are quitting you. Good job sprint... losers!

Guess who else was on the list? Comcast? yepper! I can speak from experience. They are not reliable!  My service goes out at least once a month on average... And now when I call the 795-1100 number I get sent to a huge call center in friggin India... Good service there! Who is the jack-wad manager that thought this would be good?  And when the services does go down, the customer service person on the other end doesn't believe you or gives you a standard bs line "we have people working on it" do ya? yea right, I'm sure you do. That is why it takes another 6 hours to get it back up.

I'm done ranting.. The point is this.. The customer is always right.. Yes, I know customers can be mis-informed, or whatever, but the customer is always right.
