This is one of these personal things I'm gonna share. I am becoming a hypochondria! How can I break this cycle? I swear, every weird symptom I get, I'm racing to the internet and looking it up on webMD or something...  and was is the result of all symptoms on the Internet? CANCER! I'm only 36, soon to be 37 on Tuesday and I want my life back, I want to stop thinking about every bad thing that is in the news that I will die of and starting enjoying life more. This is ridiculous. I've had these pin size red things on my arms and chest for years.. well last night I diagnosis my self with Luekiuma...Not to mention I've had blood test in the last 6 months and they said it looked fine.. plus my feet hurt.. I'm a big guy...but it sure has to be the big C.... bleh..  My mind needs a rest!

Maybe this should be a new fox story segment? The growing number of internet hypochondriac's...Who else has this problem??

Diesel, as a young nursing student many in my class, including myself, were self-diagnosing every little thing. We would read of diseases and symptoms and if we had ONE, we would check for others.

It is important to pay attention to symptoms and to what your body is telling you BUT ONLY if something is new and different. If your red spots have been checked out and all is OK, if they have been there for years, then all should be well and they are probably just skin irritations or an allergy from soap, fabrics, laundry soap or something like that.

The worse thing you can do is look up symptoms on the internet. If you notice something new happening or have problems that persist for more than a week, then see your doctor. They will know what tests to perform to find out what is wrong. Of course, if you have chest pain, jaw pain or pressure in the chest--go to ER at once.

The biggest problem with checking your own symptoms is not understanding all the reasons you are having one or more symptoms. Symptoms are not always indicative of only one disease. Usually, they are symptomatic of many things and most are very treatable.

My advice as a former nurse---go to the internet to research a DIAGNOSIS only. One the doctor has given you. Do not look up symptoms and try to diagnose yourself or you will scare yourself sick.

You are in good health, I'm sure. Enjoy it.

Diesel,
Cynerchondriacs is an actual medical term for internet hypochondriacs. MissNancy gave you good advice. Try changing your laundry detergent and fabric softener and see if your pin size rash disappears. Try buying all unscented laundry detergent and/or fabric softener.
Your feet may be hurting due to your weight or if you are on your feet all day on a hard surface. At least try shoes that give good support.

Edit: First line:
Cyberchondriac, not Cynerchondriacs.

BTW Diesel, why are you so concerned about the big C? Has this always been the big disease you fear more than any other? Just wondering, because I was diagnosed at a young age with sarcoma, ten years ago. I had never really thought that much about ever being diagnosed with cancer. But to those who have recently been diagnosed with cancer or may be diagnosed with cancer in the future, I want to reassure you that a cancer diagnosis is not an automatic death sentence. Many cancers today can be successfully managed for long periods of time just like any other chronic disease. In fact, using modern treatment options, cancer is considered more curable than other chronic disease, such as high blood pressure & diabetes. I am an example of cancer survival. I am a ten year survivor of stage 4B sarcoma, surviving 7 years following a liver resection. I am currently cancer free and doing great.

I saw the doctor and she gave me all clear for the red spots. Said she's seen them before and those weren't the normal spots you'd see for Lekuima.. gees. I think I'm at this age, more afraid of dieing and not seeing my children grow up. And the more I watch TV, or read the Internet, it gets worse... I have a way more active mind than is good.

What do you want them to do? Admit the other channel is better? I think there is some validity to the "LRC" but it's not proven science, it's just a theory that Gary see's a pattern. What I get tired of is a few people feel justified to throw this up in Mike's face on a consistent basis. And this goes for the same moron's that go to NBC's blog ans say Mike said this, Mike said that.. WHAT IS THE FRIGGING POINT?!?!?!
