I've noticed that the only TV show people on Fox seem to discuss is American Idol. (This year I barely watched it) At work everybody watches Lost, CSI, and nothing I seem to watch. I'll sit at lunch and want to saw, 'so..how about Dwight and Angela??" but crickets would chirp.
So.... any Office Fans out there?? I love that show! It just cracks me up. My husband won't watch it, so I am left to laugh out loud alone with nobody to share my fun. Does anyone else look forward to Thursday nights after a hard days work?

DM, Like so many good things on our TV, The Office is a British Import. I have watched the British show for years. Sometimes the accent is a little hard to take but by far it is so much funnier. I have tried to watch the American version and I just can't get into it. Ricky Gervais played the roll now played by Steve Carell. Look for it and give it a shot. I got my brother into it and he loves it.

I saw the British version one time, and didn't care for it. My cousin insists it's funnier. Maybe the episode I saw wasn't good? I guess I could try it again, but the American version cracks me up.

DM-
I'm with you...the Office is a very funny show. I gotta say though that for my money "30 Rock" is the highlight of my Thursday nights. We've had Tracy Morgan in studio a few times and in person he's actually pretty low-key and not as animated as he is on TV. However the entire cast of that show (especially Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan) and the writing is just top-notch.

My husband loves 30 Rock. I don't watch it much. (Hey, if he won't watch The Office, I'm not watching his show! LOL)

I highly recommend it...also as a FOX employee I gotta say that we dropped the ball with Arrested Development one of the funniest and smartest comedies of all time and on FX It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is basically a cracked-out cable version of Seinfeld. It's pretty amazing.

I loved the U.S. version of The Office so much that I bougth the 1st season of the U.K. version and I can't stand it. I don't know the lingo enough to find anything funny. And I have to strain to understand what they are saying. I do love a lot of britcoms as a rule but not this one. I'm sooo glad the writers strike is over! Come on Thursday!!!

If you're looking for good British humor I would recommend Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are a funny trio.

Stacy, The UK version can be hard to understand at times, but that was the first one I saw so I think that has something to do with it.
Josh, Shaun of the Dead is classic. I think if more people gave UK TV a shot, they would like it.
And DM, Just a bit off the topic. Any Plans to head to NYC for a theatre trip? Patty Lupone in Gypsy is looking good. I wrote Captain in his blog when he is 100% he should take you in to see it.

Fenway,
I'm taking a group of 20 middle schoolers and their parents to see Mary Poppins next saturday AND take a broadway classroom workshop. Whoo-hoo! I'd take Captain, but he is not well enough. And Gypsy is SO on my list, along w/Country Girl w/ Morgan Freeman. My friend and I want to do a 'theaterpalooza!' and go down overnight and see a couple of shows. Fenway, just an aside....you remind me of a teacher I worked with. We were wonderful friends, IF we didn't ever talk politics, as she was atheist, jewish, liberal democrat, and I was mormon, and republican. A funny combo, but we got along so well on everything else and even had a few lunch dates outside of school. LOL

I saw Patty Lupone on The View. She is such a great Mamma Rose.

Love the office.....michael it the PERFECT politically incorrect boss. Except for the factor of too much inter-office romance (which you apparently can't have a sitcom without now) it rings absolutely true. They nailed it! It doesn't play as well in reruns as the classic 'Seinfeld' but I usually end up rolling on the floor at the outrageous new events...looking forward to who the new big boss will be in September, I thought Ryan would get busted for drugs, not fraud.....
I never saw the British versuib but I love their stuff, being an original Monty Python fan . Does anybody remember a British sitcom called "Doctor in the House"?? Unbelievably funny.

Of course my favorite show is "Myth Busters," and if I really want a good laugh I watch Tv Evangelicalists.

The Office is hillarious as I can identify with Jim.

They should invent one of those typing icons for his patented chagrin...maybe this... %:- /
