Just got back from a long, strange trip trying to find the weirdest places in Massachusetts. Check out the results of our findings here. As you can see, we live in a pretty strange place -- and that's not even counting the politicians in the State House!

I'm sure I missed more than a few strange places and people - so please tell me what's the weirdest sight you've seen in Massachusetts? (Not counting me, that is). My nomination goes to the wall of bones in Lynnfield -- there were actually vultures circling over it when I got there. Creepy, but I'm sure you know somewhere or someone even creepier.

You don';t like where you live, or who you report on do you?....

The weirdest sight I’ve seen in MA is Teddy Kennedy in skimpy swim gear. Second weirdest was John Kerry in that NASA suit. The third was Michael Dukakis riding in that tank wearing that stupid helmet. Honorable mention goes to the Mayor riding his bike in the morning.

You know...I have issues with this State for it's liberalism. I also understand it is a byproduct of an excellent academic climate...the rarified air of the elite thinkers who have no common sense.

But I have ot tell you, Joe, that this is a State steeped in history and culture. We have the best museums, the best plays the richest history of American beauty. We are the birthplace of the freedom that allows you to write as you chose. We have the majesty of the Berkshires and the peace of the Atlantic.

None of the things in your story put a dent in that....it don't nick the paint.

I think that it's weird that there always seems to be road construction going on here, but nothing seems to get done. *sigh*

I think it's strange that I don't know anyone who voted for or, likes Deval Patrick, yet he is our Governor.

I think it's weird that the state is the only one legally allowed to profit from gambling.

How come Sal Dimasi controls everything.

It's like the fricken twilight zone over here.

PS: Candice, you are so right about the roadwork. I dodge the same potholes every day for years now. I got'em memorized.

i find purgatory chasm creepy. the devils pulpit, lovers leap.....

seriously it's creepy there and that giant rock that peopl can slide down just seem unnatural, it's like a real slide.

i do love it there though . picnic areas, and such...

let's not forget milford quarrys how in the world is pink grandite mainly exported from milford and the jumps people have dubbed "superman" "chickens----" a little extreme and too intense for this girl.

the pilgrim monument is very creepy. they have gargoyles around the top, it has a certain air about it that draws people to it, and we all stare at it like chickens to rain..

I agree with Candice on the never-ending road construction. Ever drive through the "bridge" construction in Dedham circle? I have - for the last five years, it seems.
I also agree that Menino on bike should get honorable mention for weird sights, but I can't put Dukakis in the tank on the list, because it happened in Michigan. (I was there, trust me, and it was weird and funny.)

Okay then....substitute Dukakis in the sweater during the Great Blizzard, and throw the spectacle of the Great Blizzard itself in there for good measure. That was weird.

On Purgatory Chasm, I don't think it is "creepy". It is beautiful, and don't forget the "Lemon Squeezer".

WIERD - you have to go with that giant cow on Route 1, or maybe our dumb traffic circles in much too busy intersections....

The weirdest place? The public schools .Pick anyone of them ! I was corrected by my 6 year old when at thanksgiving time I used the term "Indians".I was told" MOM!! They are Native Americans, Indians is a harsh term" OMG I didn't know if I should laugh or go in the time out chair!

Well, I pretty much live in "Spitting" distance from Lizzie Borden's grave site. It may not be that creepy,(Or not creepy for someone who has lived here for over 20 years. Not have I ever done the whole 'Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast' deal; however, if you ever come to Fall River, Massachusetts, it's something to do.

What is strange is seeing Wendy Murphy calm and collective.
