Joe_Battenfeld's Blog

The fireworks almost made me deaf, and the American flags were everywhere - but I wanted to leave with a few questions for everyone.
My quick take on Obama's speech - this was one tough speech. Was it too tough against McCain? That may be, but Democrats we talked to here said they thought the party needed to hit back.
This was Obama's most serious speech I've seen, but what does everyone out there think? That's all that matters.
Let me know - was Obama good or off the mark?

I'd say he made all the points where they would count the most and I could almost see the ex-Hillary supporters now backing McCain start to second-guess their decision.

I was undecided until tonight but now I can say I'm giving Barrack Obama my vote. Politics as usual aside, there is no question he relates with Average Americans. Not to say McCain doesn't but right now America needs someone new an innovative.

I dare say McCain isn't the one for the job because of his political affiliation. GWB is the most unpopular president in American history and Obama is going to use that next week and beyond against McCain.

All I heard was blah blah blah.

I am torn in the direction I will go. One side says do with the Democrats, they are promising to end the war.

I always have felt that while we at war, the Commander in Chief should be a war veteran. Maybe McCain will end this thing faster than Obama's withdrawel plan.

I think we said what he meant! He will be a great Commander and Chief,. McCain is ready for the nursing home.

He did a great job! He's the more believable Candidate! I too think he's very innovative and this country is ready for someone fresh and a real change! I would also like to point out that fact that i have friends and family in the military (god bless them) but they are not the most honest or smart people, so Mccain does not have my vote as far as being in the military goes. Out with the Old, in with the new!!

So Obama, says "I AM GOING TO CUT TAXES, I AM GOING TO CUT TAXES, I AM GOING TO CUT TAXES"
Is it me or have we been hearing the same speech all along?
Cut taxes, cut taxes how?
By shutting the doors on programs we really need, by more DOWN-SIZING, enoughn with the lies, why didn't he just come out and say "listen, i am going to do nothing to help anyone, however i am younger so your best choice is to vote for me"

wtrhzd1 I think he was just blowing hot air. He says he is going to cut taxes but I do not know how he can do that with all the new programs he wants. Obama talks big but he has no plan he says what he is going to do but he does not say how he is going to do it.

Joe....I've been on the fence all week. Not a huge fan of either of them.

The lesser of 2 evils was McCain...but todays pick of Palin for VP has me leaning towards Mac. That was brilliant!!!

It was the same rhetoric that he's been spewing for months: McCain's another Bush, eight years is enough, let's surrender in a war that we're winning, save the earth, blah blah blah. Preaching to all the suckers that fall for that garbage.

Obamaniacs are out of control! In his rhetoric, he actually was quoting the movie American President! The media commented on it, but didn't slam it. Maybe, McCain can just give the Nicholson, "You can't handle the truth" speech at the RNC.

So Biden steals his quotes from British politicians while Obama steals from Deval & President Andrew Shepherd (Michael Douglas’s character in American President). Either would make a great actor, not a great president. This country needs a Commander-in-Chief, not a Commander-of-Speech!

Paratrooper82, We are not winning the war(s) and we never will. People like you beleive that these are conventional wars. However, what so many like minded fools FAIL to understand is that you can't win an ideological war with conventional weapons. Any military strategist that has studied The Art of War would agree. Because the republican philosophy chooses to ignore this concept is why republican foreign policy continues FAIL. Only after 8 years, so many deaths, billions of dollars later that we have only seen marginal and such short lived successes that dwarfed by the huge amount of resources that have been used. The war had no objectives going in and no objectives to get out. That's a constitution of failure on the republican policies of the last 8 years. "Stay the course" of what doesn't work. Analysis by the military confirms that the Taliban and Al Quida are on the resurgence in both places.

Well said reasonguy! I was on the fence until hearing Obama's speech and hearing Palins speech. Oh and might I say that I was a supporter of Rudy, but after his nasty, childish, name calling speech, I cannot stand to look at the man. Obama touches on the issues that need to be addressed. McCain is another Bush. We dont need that!! Obama 08! Palin needs to be with her family like a real mother! Her daughter needs her more then the country does!
