Well, it was better than the weekend.  That's the best I can say about Monday's weather.  The front cleared the area, but the disturbance in the upper levels of our atmosphere did not.  That kept the clouds and sprinkles around all day.  Sure, you may have seen a litte sun, but we have to do better.

Tuesday will be better.  Althought there will likely be some fog to burn off, the sun should win out.  Problem is, another front is already on the way.  Worse, another upper-level low will be spinning into New England.  Much like we saw a lot of during the summer, this system comes with cold air aloft.  That allows more lift, more clouds, and more showers.  It will lift out of here this weekend, but the cool air will work its way to our doorsteps.

Keep the umbrellas handy Wednesday and Thursday, just in case.  No washouts, but always a chance.  By Friday, make sure that sweatshirt is ready.  Good thing the Sox start in California.

Get rid of the rain and I actually really enjoy the first crisp autumn weather.  How about you?  I've posted some pictures from my visit to a cranberry bog.  Check them out and feel free to comment.

Kevin, I was at Fenway Sunday afternoon with shorts and a T shirt. The humidity had to be 100%. People who thought it was going to be cool, were stripping down to there bear undies. (Well Almost) Where I was sitting, looking at the Pru, the clouds seemed to engulf the building. At one point It almost looked like the formation of a tornado the way the clouds just dropped from the sky. People were sitting there with their mouths open. It looked cool.

I agree! All those clouds make you think it'll be cool out, especially since it is September. Monday was that way, I thought.

Great photos from the bog, Kevin. Was the water you were standing in cold, or did the wadders insulate you? I am glad the weather is going to clear out Thursday; I dislike the humidity very much. I am ready for the cooler weather! Then I can put a fire in the fireplace and drink mulled cider (or cranberry juice haha).

Well done, Sox49. It is one group I never did get to see. Read the Slash autobiography if you haven't yet.

Thanks, swifty783... couldn't feel the water at all. I did eat some raw cranberries, though. Bitter but very good.

My name is James and I'm a 4th grader in Westford, MA. I'm doing a research project in science. My research question is "How do satellites help meteorologists predict the weather?" Could you please send me some information. I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Kev,

Thunderstorms approaching! Global warming slow to leave! I told you the sun is still hot! That is all.

Kevin, watch your newscast every night! I snapped this picture from my office on the 22nd floor of my building in Copley Sq. Looking out the south side of my building looked like the end of the world and the North was nice and sunny. (http://www.esr-racing.com/public/misc/boston_rainbow.j
pg). Seems like the rainbow ends on the Mass Pike.

Thanks for the pic, Chris.

You know, Ozone, that this is simply a cold pool of air over the northeast... a trough. NOTHING to do with warming of any kind.

Right you are Kev,

nothng to do with global warming but that recurrent low pressure to our nw that has been pinwheeling spokes of energy is not positioned properly for a harsh winter. So like you, I see potential for a colder winter than last but no great shakes. Did you read/hear the story about the manatee -sea cow spotted off Dennis, MA ?( Dennisport MA? ) Farthest north seen for this marine mammal...not exactly auspicious for global cooling.

Not exactly auspicious for the navigational ability of manatees.

Sugarbush, VT had 2" of new snow today, and Killington had a dusting. Pretty early for that, don't you think.

Think Cool!

On the manatee navigational skill, I disagree Kev because these mammals are sensitive to water temperature. Apparently it went from very warm waters to just less warm up here in search of food. Ocean warming is global warming but supposeably this winter the air begins the slow transition to global cooling. I'll believe it when I see the global land/sea temperature data in the Spring.
