Hello Fellow Bloggers,

Have you been following the Sheila LaBarre case out of New Hampshire? This woman has admitted to killing two young men who were her lovers. She is also claiming insanity.

Today, the jury is taking a field trip to her farm where she killed the men. A couple of weeks ago, some toes were found on the property...they don't belong to either of the victims.

Let me ask you this...do we really need this big trial to prove she is crazy? The jurors will have to hear all the terrible details and the court will have to be jammed with this case for a few weeks. I'm all for due process, but in a case like this...can't a judge make the call? Can't we save everyone the trouble? What do you think?

KC, This lady has been knitting with one needle for a long time. Like you say it doesn't take a jury to tell us she's a nut. Is it a case of NH covering all the bases? I guess they have to prove she's a real nut and not faking to be a nut. Either way she's a nut!

There is a HUGE difference between "insanity" and "criminal insanity". the first is quite inclusive, the second isn't. She clearly meets the clinical criteria for insanity....

However, "criminal insanity" includes not knowing the difference between right and wrong, and the inability to assist in your own defense. I think she's good on that.

They need t dust off a bunk for her in the appropriate women's prison!!!

I think it a slam dunk shes crazy an belongs in a Institution like Bridgewater...I start at the premise anyone who kills anyone in this type of manner has to be not playing with a full deck...so the real question is what will be the PUNISHMENT? I say death! if found guilty becuase we dont need to hear years down the road she deserves to be let out like John Hinckley or any other whack job who plays the the Parole Board/Psychiatrist in our legal system like our favorite Hannibal Hector from Webster who served up a child in soup out in the Mid West who recently died thank god...remember D.A. Conte agreed to his release an was cured? So we know shes crazy why waste time with that farce lets get to the evidence find her guilty an get to the punishment phase....

Oh yeah, this lady's nuts. But, like Chip said, the fact that she took pains to dispose of the bodies shows she knew right from wrong- so not criminally insane.

Do we need the show stopper trial to prove it? Nope, the first news reports were more than enough proof she's nuts. But, she's not nuts in the right way to skip punishment.

Even the obvious nut jobs deserve their day in court. The laws apply to everyone. I would however like to see the plea changed to guilty but insane requiring lots of jail time. She admits to the crimes but claims insanity which gets her a nice bed in an asylum for a while and then a possible release if she is declared sane again.

"Crazy" and criminal insanity are 2 entirely different things.
Of course she is crazy.
No way she is criminally insane. The standard would be she didn't realize what she was doing. She has already indicated she did.
We need "this big trial" because human beings were viciously murdered.
As long as that' a crime, society should be entitled to "this big, long trial".
I guess news anchors must hear too much of this stuff, and have been numbed to some extent.
I think you are a great human being, Kim, but empathize. When you start feeling tired of it all you need to close your eyes and imagine yourself as their loved ones. Thank you.

Kim, there's no more "crazy." Now there's 800 types of crazy. And some we're supposed to sympathize with, and some we're supposed to fear and reprimand.

The last thing that woman needs is to be put in a correctional facility, ever. She needs a nuthouse, and to be locked in that nuthouse until she can't do anyone any harm. That way, if she's lying...guess what, TOO LATE!! HAVE CRAZY FUN, NUTJOB!

I don't think she should be given any help at all or take up anyones time. she took to many people out of this world why should people pay for her to live free of charge behind bars or while she gets help sometimes this is where an eye for an eye is best as the families suffer the passing of love ones in pain she get attention, time and help hmm don't sound right to me
