Hello Fellow Bloggers,

Have you heard the story about the young, pregnant mother in Roxbury who ran out into the middle of a busy intersection to save her 2-year old daughter. The toddler got away from the woman and darted out into the street right into the path of an oncoming bus.

When the incident was over, both the mother and daughter were hit by the bus. Both in serious condition but expected to recover.

Eyewitnesses say the mother never hesitated when she realized the child was in danger.

As a mother of two, I have done many things for my kids I have never or would never do for someone else. But, thank goodness, I have never been in a situation like this poor mother was. I have always said, I would step in front of a train for one of my kids...and I believe I would. This brave, loving, dedicated mother did just that! She stepped in front of a bus to save that little girl!

I hope and pray that all three (the woman is pregnant) are safe and well. I also hope that someday that little girl realizes just how much her mommy loves her...She proved it this week!

Any normal person would have done the same. I would step in front of a bullet for my child without ANY hesitation. I pray they are all ok.

You know, even with the sad fact that mother, child and unborn child got injured, it's refreshing to hear a story about a parent actually protecting their kids. I'm praying for all of them.

Let me be the fly in the ointment. Like the child not to long ago who fell down the sewer, I wrote a child that age (any age) you have to watch like a hawk. Yes I'm sorry for the mother and child involved. It's very sad. But how in the hell do you let a 2 year old child out of your sight for one second. Traffic was only doing what traffic does. I feel bad for the bus driver who did this. He/she has to have this on their mind and all they were doing was their job. I ride the bus all the time and I see bikes and cars and even children run, skip and roll in front thinking the bus is going to stop. Sometimes it can't. No charges have been lodged against the driver. You no why? They did nothing wrong. That part of the story is not talked about. Sorry.....

Dave, I think the child actually got away from the mother, not that the mother wasn't watching her...Some toddlers really are mini Houdinis. I should know, I'm related to (and have watched) a few! I don't think any charges should be filed either, though.

Xantun, I hear you and when ever something like this happens someone pops in with that same argument. I will get grief for this as usual. That's why they call it the terrible TWO'S. "Oh Fenwaydav you don't have children so what do you know" I know XAN, that's not what your saying. I know little Houdini's also, and that is why if need be, you Velcro them to your hip, Specially in dangerous situations.

I also feel bad for the bus driver that has to live with this terrible memory. But to blame the mother for a two year old running out into the street is wrong. That mother obviously loves her child and would do anything to keep her safe. All it takes is a second for a little one to bolt. Think about the guilt the mom must be feeling for losing that second and letting the child get in front of the bus in the first place! I wish them all the best!
