Do you have any questions about workplace ethics? For example, have you ever thought about padding your timecard? Turning in false expense sheets? What about a workplace romance?

This Friday, an ethics expert will join us on the Fox 25 Morning News to answer your questions.

Send your questions right here and we'll have our expert answer them. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I've been trying for years to have a simple conversation with the general properties manager of the business I work for, but I'm always deferred by my direct supervisor. I've written him several letters asking for a mono-e-mono, but I don't seem important enough. I've been working there for fourteen years. Any suggestions?

"...For example, have you ever thought about padding your timecard? Turning in false expense sheets?"

Pardon me for saying so, but don't these questions answer themselves? To anyone who doesn't know the answer to these questions, it doesn't really take an expert; these practices are WRONG!

I have not worked in an enviroment like that in years. I do invoice clients and would ever pad a bill. My invoices hit the mail pronto so everything is fresh in the client's mind.

Workplace romanaces are another story. Obvioulsy married people should not. One of the reasons people work well together, is because of chemistry. That same chemistry can ignite other feelings.

Who at fox 25 is the expert on this?

My wife & I began our relationship in the workplace, T.E.O.
But there was never any conflict of interest as our jobs and positions have always been totally separate.
She's actually higher on the totem pole, and asked me out after she and her X-husband split. I was the envy of every guy at work, which--even though there's little doubt it caused some tension--it was well worth it!

Is it OK to embellish your resume in order to get a more prestigious job at a higher salary with more serious responsibility?

Is it OK to omit a minor arrest on a resume?

I wonder how many people are going to tell the truth on these questions. Everyone knows the right answers to these questions should all be no. But, I can guarntee there are a lot of people who can answer yes to all of them as well as yes to at least two of them. LOL

BTW NorthernO has a great question as well. The answer to that should be YES.

Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do to get ahead. I'm not talking about breaking the law.

Graham:

That is a great story.

Fenway: Not sure if you are kidding. Obvioulsy they will find it on the background.
I would seal it if able. But they can still tell if you have been arrested. Near the top of the print out, it will indicate if the party has never been arrested or arraigned.

Is it okay to not reveal to a potential employer that you are pregnant, knowing that you may need significant time-off in the future?

Gram,

Sounds like there was some flirting going on before the X-split.

Is it ok to take a job, even if you know it is only temporary for you, and the company is looking for a permanent employee (someone who will be there for a long time)?

If someone is allowed time for a smoke break, shouldn't the non-smokers be allotted the same time break?

I've long been an advocate for "fresh-air" breaks, Chrissy!

The lack of work place ethics (morality, knowing right from wrong) got our stock market into the mess it's in today.

Wow! Ok, well, I've never thought about padding my timesheet. Every job I've had has been plenty busy and OT has been rampant (I like it this way). In my current job, my manager adds in the hours I leave out, chases me with a calendar to take vacation and boots me off my chair for lunch.

I've never been in a job that requires an expense account. Not yet anyway and while I don't really care if someone has an office romance, I personally never engaged in one. I was always completely against the idea and now that I'm married, there's no reason to even think about it anymore.

Northern, some people would say yeah, but as someone who has worked in HR and has also hired people, if you 'embellish' too big, it WILL come back to haunt you. Be careful with that one.
