We all love it when a coach shows support for his players but does Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Woodson really want us to take him seriously when he says it's a travesty that his rookie Al Horford lost out to Kevin Durant for NBA Rookie of the Year?

Look, Al Horford is a good young player and his rookie year double double average of just over 10 points and just under 10 rebounds per game. This year is impressive, but he's not the best rookie. Kevin Durant is, by far.

And the 125 writers and broadcasters who voted agree. Just 35 first place votes for Horford. 90 first place votes for Durant. Nearly three times as many. The travesty is your math skills, Mike Woodson. But that's OK. You can brush up on those adding up how many points you lose to the Celtics by.

Your thoughts?

This is similiar to an MVP vote and how does one place a value on a player's performance. If Al Horford played on a terrible Sonic team he would garner more minutes and you would expect his numbers to be better. Mike Woodson is just trying to pump up his player and that is understandable, but I would have voted for Durant.
