MANNY RAMIREZ PUSHING SOX TRAVELING SECRETARY JACK MCCORMICK WAS A QUICK DECISION AND THE WRONG REACTION TO A HEATED SITUATION. AND NOT JUST BECAUSE MANNY ALLEGEDLY COMMITTED ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A COWORKER, IT WAS WRONG BECAUSE OF THE MAN MANNY MESSED WITH. JACK MCCORMICK HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE RED SOX INNER CIRCLE FOR 12 YEARS. HE IS AN EX BOSTON COP AND AS DECENT A MAN AS YOU WILL EVER MEET. AND HERE'S WHAT I CAN TELL YOU WITH CONFIDENCE. JACK TREATS PEOPLE WITH RESPECT AND COMMANDS THE SAME RESPECT IN RETURN. HE HAS THE TRUST AND RESPECT OF SOX PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT BECAUSE HE DESERVES IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED B/W MANNY AND MCCORMICK AND NEITHER DO YOU. BUT WHILE MANY OF YOU WONDER WHETHER MANNY DESERVES THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT HERE, I CAN TELL YOU THAT JACK DOES. HE'S EARNED IT. YOUR THOUGHTS?

Manny being Manny sometimes doesn't cut it. Didn't he just have a thing with Kevin Youkilis. It seems he's becoming less of a team player and more of a team preyer.

I'm wondering if Manny stopped doing the yoga or whatever it was that he was doing that he claimed brought him peace and happiness. Whatever the situation, Manny needs to invest in whatever it is that is going to calm him down. If he's going to behave like a child, I'm sure there's a little league team somewhere that will take him.

Maybe like Sampson, some needs to cut off his locks. Maybe it's a testosterone thing?

manny waas 100% in the wrong for what he did to mr mccormick.Mr mccormick should be applauded for being gracious enoough to accept the apology ewhich I bet was done under the therast of an fine and or suspension. The team will handle it internally so the media should back off and let the team run their own organization. But where is the outcry for the behavior of hopefully soon to be expatriot willie andrews?Putting an gun to an young womans head and threatening her is more serious than what manny did but this hasnt been talked on racist WEEI radio for 3 days like the manny ncident was.manny was wrong and the team should be allowed to handle this as they see fit without the media feeling they need to tell them how to handle things

I did not know Jack is a retired Boston Cop. Manny has problems now. Manny is gone after this season and maybe earlier.

Manny has never had to face any consequences for his actions in the past, "just Manny being Manny". Why would anyone think things would change as long as he hits home runs and drives in runs. Now that the Sox have two World Series Trophies, I thing the Manny era should be in our rear view mirror.

The "Manny being Manny" mantra is too much. My concern, however, is that sometimes outbursts are a sign that there is something physically wrong going on. I hope not. But maybe he should get an MRI and make sure that there isn't something seriously wrong going on with him. Tumors have been discovered. Just check into it, please.

I’m sick of this Manny being Manny crap, enough is enough, there’s no excuse for what he did, none what’s so ever. How many excuses can you make for one person? What he did was not just assault another person, but the person he assaulted was a senior citizen which is a crime against the elderly in it’s self which could and should render some serious consequences. Go to work today and push one of your elderly coworkers down and see what happens, do you think your boss would sweep that under the rug? Kim made a good point this morning when she said Manny gets paid to hit baseballs not people, I couldn’t agree more with her.

Manny gets 20 million dollars this year in his final contract year for playing baseball, and that’s just what he should do, play baseball, keep his mouth shut, keep his hands to himself and hope to God that Jack McCormick doesn’t press charges against him and sue the crap out of him for what he did, which I hope Jack does.

This is more than "Manny being Manny", he keeps getting preferential treatment no matter what he does. The Red Sox are no better for doing nothing about it, they just blow it off and say it's nothing. He should be punished harshly for his actions.

If I pushed McCormick would I not be locked up. hummm ya its good to be Manny when all you say is it's Manny being Manny!!

This looks bad for the organization!!! Allow him to be late be a goof when its all your buisness and you pay millions for it but when he breaks the law and starts asulting people watch out !! if it was a fan and he pushed him or shoved him you can be sure the organization will care then and they will end up in court for alowing this to continue and putting there employeess and paid fans in harms way calm your boy down.

WHO SHOULD METER OUT THE PUNISHMENT IN THE MANNY AFFAIR? I DON'T KNOW AND NEITHER DO YOU. BUT I'LL TELL YOU ONE THING: WHEN THE DECISION IS METERED, I HOPE THEY PRINT IT IN ALL CAPS. BECAUSE THIS SITUATION DESERVES IT. YOUR THOUGHTS?

My sources tell me that McCormick slipped as Manny was walking by. I tend to believe my sources. Even if it wasn't an accident, this McCormick guy is an ex-cop that has been a paid errand boy for the last 12 years. If a player tells a gopher to go scoff up 16 ducats, the gopher should say "I'll get you 18, sir!" Leave Manny alone.

LJSandwich: Your sources are wrong. Jack did not slip. Manny was asking for additional tickets and there were none to be found. Jack is a senior citizen and should be treated with respect.

It will be interesting to see how many guys give Manny crap at Fenway.

The problem here is sports teams pay these athletes millions of dollars to play and win games, it’s that win at all cost no matter what mentality that pisses me off, and when you pay a guy like Manny millions of dollars to win games, they give him a very wide berth. Is that fair? NO!! The Red Sox owners should sit Manny down and tell him, when you deliberately knock someone down and that person just happens to be one of our own Red Sox personnel that happens to be a senior citizen, then we have a very big problem regardless of how much money we pay you.

Some heavy duty fines should be levied against Manny for what he did, but no matter how much you fine him a guy who makes 20 million for the year is probably only going to laugh at you and that’s what happens when you pay these morons that kind of money they think they can get away with anything, and most of the time they do. Sad isn’t it?

This is yet the best example for our kids about sports. Pushing around our elders when you don't get what you want. wah wah wah
But then again, 20 mil a year, untouchable, there are no limits.

I think this is disgusting who does Manny think he is? So what he has hit over 500 homers...we should also count how many men he has hit! I think he should be suspended and learn a good lesson ...Is this good sportsmanship? in my book it is not only on the field but off the field too...What a poor example for kids to emulate after...Shame on you! If this is Manny being Manny..then go elsewhere...sports fans do not need you in Boston...

SirB: Good point. There was a piece last year on Nesn showing Manny with his personal barber. Manny only had a t-shirt on, I remember thinking he was lacking definition.
He seems to have put some muscle on in a hurry.

Ok first of all to throw the steroid argument out there is just plain stupid! What Manny did is wrong on many levels and he should be fined, punished, whatever.. But saying its because he's on roids without any evidence is just a lazy excuuse not to use your brain and form an opinion. So let me get this straight Manny's name has never ever been assoicated with steroids, but because he got into a minor scuffle with a teammate earlier and now this that means he is shooting up the juice and rubbing the clear cream on? Man Coco must be on the real good stuff, he took on the WHOLE Rays team! All im saying is Im sick of hearing "steroids" answer anytime an athlete does anything agressive. This is Boston we can do better then that!
