So we're supposed to get freezing rain/sleet/snow...whatever they call it...

I'm not too overjoyed about this. I am supposed to go to my Saturday class at 8am, so I guess I'll be getting an EXTRA head start on getting there. I don't want to rush myself and get hurt and all that. Hopefully it's not too bad, and if it is, I hope people will be responsible.

Here's to you-- defrosting windows and de-icer spray and scrapers and brushes!!   :)

Hello Mr. Winter, we've been expecting you!

I'm going to the Garth Brooks and the Rascal Flatts concerts. I'm VERY excited to see Garth at the Sprint Center. I have heard good things about the new Center, but have also heard that parking will be a tough problem to deal with. Guess we'll find out when they have the first concert there tonight.

In other news, I got a new job. I absolutely love it! And life is fabulous these days. I'm just a happy girl!    =)

Hey there, Lauren here!

How are all of you Kansas Citians? Enjoying the gorgeous weather we've had this week? It's been so nice to get a break from the 100 degree weather for a little while. Since my last update...I've started college, applied for a new job, and kept my bedroom and my car organized. Trust me, that's a MAJOR accomplishment! I'm taking 5 classes, including Algebra, Sociology, Comp 1, a CPR class, and Strategies. I absolutely love the college life..even though I'm not in a dorm or an apartment, I'm still living at home. The teachers are really nice and willing to help you out, and they treat you like trustworthy adults. LOVE IT! Just thought I'd update those of you who read my blog...see ya later!

HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY TO ME!!   =]

I'm so happy to be 18! It really makes me feel as if I'm starting college and becoming a young adult. Can't wait to see what life has in store for me! Today's going to be great!

This will be short and sweet, so I don't expect it to be posted on the main blogs page like my blogs usually are.

(The category is listed as News because it has to do with the News Crew!)

Last night at work, I was busy seating guests and doing the whole hostess thing. The night was pretty busy because we had a few large parties come in..one was 13 ladies, another few 8-tops, as we call them.  Then walks in Mark Alford and his wife, along with another couple. I grabbed 4 menus and a specials menu..and proceeded to walk them to their table. I let them have a seat and then passed out the menus, started telling them the specials, and then I started to tell them the soup of the day. I got the "GC" part out, but I fumbled the "chili" part when I realized that it was Mark Alford sitting there about 2 feet away from where I was standing! I felt so silly, but it was pretty cool to see somebody from FOX4 since I watch it all the time. =)  Thanks for reading!

It's true. Time Flies! If you haven't noticed, I haven't written since May 18th. Where on earth have I been? I've been working a ton of hours at work, trying to get my college paperwork and enrollment completed, trying to keep up with church, and being a crew leader for our Vacation Bible school at church as well. It has been nothing but GO GO GO since graduation! How does everyone do it?

In other news, I was going about my business last night. I sat a table, told them about our specials, took their extra silverware, grabbed used menus, and walked back to the host stand. And low and behold, there stands the one and only Phil Witt from FOX4 News! I was like "Hey, I know that man!" LOL   =]  Okay well there's my update for you guys. Hope your summer is going wonderfully-- and enjoy your 4th of July on Wednesday!

Later Gators,
Lauren

I am an official graduate of Sumner Academy of Arts and Science's class of 2007. It feels so great, and I'm so proud of myself. Honestly, it's really nice to just sit here for a few hours a day and watch a movie or something on TV. But I'm the kind of person who likes to go out and do things, whether for myself or for others!

I saw SHREK 3 last night and it was so cute & so funny! It's still okay for the kids, but there are a ton of adult jokes. It's really funny, and lives up to the first 2 movies!

I'm actually starting to feel like an adult these days. (Yeah right, after I just told you I saw a kiddie movie) HAHAHA!!  No, but I went to the grocery store for my grandma yesterday. Not just to get some milk, but I actually got a basket and went through the whole store and got everything on the list! It was pretty sweet, but I know I'd get sick of it real soon!

I'm ready to enjoy my summer. I'm ready to write 50 thank you cards to people who so graciously gave to me for my graduation. I'm ready for college. I'm ready for whatever life throws at me. I'm ready to be an adult---or at least be one when it's absolutely necessary!   =)  Haha!!

So my Senior year of high school is winding down and I'm very excited for it. Graduation is in 2 weeks and 3 days now. Couldn't be happier. Prom is this Saturday, the 28th. The weather is going to be perfect. Me and about 20 other people rented this bus called the "Cool Bus". It has a great sound system and a huge TV in it. WOOHOO!! Okay Well I hadn't updated in a while so I just thought I'd let you know what's up in the life of Lauren.

Does anybody else ever wonder why it takes somebody's death to realize that they had a dream, WHILE THEY WERE LIVING? Take Buck O'neal for example. He was a very kind and powerful man who loved kids and baseball...he loved everything and everyone. Now, after his death, all of a sudden people want to make his dream of a Learning/Research Center for children come true. He wanted this while he was still alive and kicking; so why does it take his dying to make people realize what he really wanted most? I think some people might say, "well he was capable of making it possible by himself when he was here", but I say, "all the more reason to join in and HELP him achieve it!"

Maybe it's just me. I don't know. And this WAS NOT supposed to be rude or anything...it just makes me wonder. Hmm?

Feel free to write me comments on what you think! Thanks guys!

Wow! It has been a long time you guys. School has been soo crazy, but its going wonderful. My grades are really good and its a great feeling to know that your hard work is really paying off.  =)

I've been home since 1:30 this afternoon, and there is still coverage of the Chemical Explosion..and I just wanted to jump on MyFoxKC.com to see some pictures and all. I heard that you can see the smoke and all from the Legends 14 Theatres here in Wyandotte County. HMM?! I think I'll just stay in my house and watch Bones and American Idol here in a little while! I hope everyone is staying safe in this uneasy situation with the fires! I will chat with ya'll later.
