I simply cannot believe this. Devastating. The game was painful and slow, and then picked up steam and brought our emotions back and forth and back again. We believed until the end. Until the very last second. But it wasn't meant to be. Let's not let this, take away from an amazing season. From a team that went 18-0. I want to say thanks Patriots. For giving us a great season. For making us proud even if they weren't perfect.

I agree with you 100%, Maria!! It was devestating, dissapointing and excruciatingly painful to watch. However, that being said, you're absolutely right. We should be extremely proud of our Patriots. Let's face it, nobody's perfect all the time, right?

I agree but if we wouldve won it would have been like the icing on a cake. i wanted Seau and Bruschi to be able to retire with a win. I guess we will have to come back next year and do it all over again.

I know this is out of your control, Maria, and you're just doing your job, but I think showing House like you advertised would've been a much better way to make us feel better about our loss than putting on the news when nothing is happening. None of the patriots players are talking, everyone's just cleaning up the field and your friends are talking about nothing. You probably don't even read these comments, but next time, please show House. It looked good too.

I am VERY proud of them!!! Although, I have to tell you Maria, I'm considering giving this sports thing up. I'm young and would like to be around to have grand children someday. The anxiety came close to killing me, and that's the truth. I can't handle this anymore. Between the Red Sox and the Pats, I'm going to die young, LOL.

I feel terrible for Junior Seau. My heart goes out to him. So many years playing this game....he deserved it. Hopefully, there will be another chance next season to get it for him.

Yeah, this is very upsetting but I think that they should review the fourth quarter because there was an error with the time clock. they should be able to play the last three minutes of the fourth quarter

hey maria,
i never watched the games, however the superbowl im a big fan of and this year was so suspenceful !! i was screaming, clapping, many things you can't even imagine. but like you said, we should be proud of our team because they've gotten so far. im was disappointed, but im slowly recovering.. & i don't believe this was the worse ever ! it's the jinx, geez =/ oh well, there's always next year :)

JuneinMA: Never consider giving this sports thing up! If I said that when I was a kid, life would have been sooo boring. We never won, when I was a kid(except of course, the Celtics! and yes the Bruins) We know this feeling. But you know what, it was great leading up to it... And I choose to remember that. btw: pleaseshowhousenow, I do read my blogs and regularly respond. Happy to have you join us.

What I meant earlier is: People counted their chickens before they hatched. Don't forget, the Giants made it to the Super Bowl also, so obviously the Pats were playing a GOOD team. Nobody picked the Giants except the Giants themselves. Maybe everyone else was looking towards the victory parade on Tuesday? It was a great season, that came up 1 minute or so short. Training camp will be here before you know it.

Maria,

You can put what ever spin you want to on this loss, the fact of the matter is they lost, and the 18-0 record doesn't mean a thing. Surely a great accomplishment no doubt to go 18-0, and this may never happen again in a lot of our life times, which makes this loss all the harder to swallow.
This loss will stay with all these players, coaches, owners and everyone else associated with the team for the rest of their lives no matter how many more Super Bowl titles they go on to win. This loss will always be stuck in their craw.
This loss has to be right up there with the Red Sox losing the World Series because of Bill Buckner, that's how bad this loss is. Right now we're all stunned about this loss, it's absolutely heart breaking.

Jovanone, it's incredibly heartbreaking. I'm stunned. But to get past it, at least for me, I try to look at the season leading up to the shocker. I think 18-0 is still incredibly impressive.

Maria,
What makes this so heartbreaking, is we as fans wanted so much for the Pats to win this last game, so they could finish the season at 19-0 and go down in history as the best team ever. With the league screaming for parity amongst the teams, here come the Pats and do something so unimaginable that no one could ever believe this to be possible, and not to win this one last game, just makes it a sad ending to a great story. Ah, so close, and yet, so far away…..
