Except, if you're John McCain. I don't care what side of the political aisle you hang out, this is wrong.  Atlantic Monthly, no slouch of a magazine hired a photographer Jill Greenberg to photograph John McCain. A quick google check will show you, she is for lack of a better term vehemently anti-GOP. I have no problem with that, it's her opinion.

Here's the problem.  During the photo shoot, she admitted she tricked McCain into standing over a strobe light, placed on the floor to deliberately cast shadows on his face. And then she allegedly took the out-takes from the shoot and manipulated them and then published them on her website.

In one picture she doctored it by adding blood oozing from McCain's shark toothed mouth and labeled it "I am a bloodthirsty warmongerer."  You know what.  Judging from her previous work, she's obviously a talented photographer.  She should have left it at that.  Look, magazines do this all the time, they Photoshop, airbrush, but this goes beyond that.

The Editor is apologizing, but this just plays into the hands of everybody! Conservatives will say this is just another example of the "liberal" media distorting McCain.  Liberals will say she was just doing her job.  You say what?

I say this is more extraneous fluff that people with nothing better to do with their time are doing. I ALSO say that this just proves that we're in serious need of campaign time limits- This campaign cycle has gone on so long that people are getting really slap happy.

Oh yes, I must also mention that while Ms. Greenberg might be a talented photographer, this proves that talented and professional don't always go together!

The only way he gets a pass for this is if Jill Greenberg is a perfect 10. Then we guys understand how this could happen.

But if McCain can be tricked into doing something stupid like this, does he really believe he is going to catch Bin Laden?

Well said Xantun. Needless to say, I agree with you.

People need to find something fruitful to do with their lives and we need to get back to the real issues and cut the krap already.

If she needs a reference, she will never work in her field again. People just don't think! Probably ruined her life....certainly her career.

I say so what. And not about the blog or the story, I'm glad you posted it and understand what you're getting at. But I say so what to all this petty garbage that has gone in politics for as long as I can remember. I don't care about lipstick on pigs. I don't care about if McCain knows how many homes he owns. I'm as concerned about those things as I am about where Britney's favorite Starbucks is. Every election there's always a pledge that this election will be different. "Our side will take the high road" or "we'll only talk about the issues" and then all this trivial nonsense always happens. Considering all the things going on right now in the world and what dire economic times we're living in this election couldn't be more crucial. And this is what we ALWAYS seem to be talking about. Useless things that couldn't be less relevant. Now I'll guarantee we'll see all these overpaid strategists on every cable network program to discuss and spin this story for a few days and numb the voters to this whole process even more. I personally think it's pathetic and I blame both parties equally. That being said, that is a creepy pic of McCain ...I think I'm going to have nightmares tonight if I don't sleep with the light on.

Maria,
A man like John McCain,Who has served the United States with honor and courage deserves to be treated with respect. If you disagreed with his views, thats fine, don't vote for him.
It is a sure bet that the liberal media would never portray Senator Obama in a degrading way.

This woman is a flake. Typical hateful liberal. If anything, this doesn't help the Dem's. Talk about slinging mud! This is worse than anything the GOP could come up with.

The Lib's are hanging themselves once again.

The end of this election can't get here soon enough.

The only thing that is certain is that who ever wins nothing will change.

They both keep talking about change, but all we are seeing is more of the same old poop.

If any liberal can still fiegn a defense of liberal bias, they suffer from a mental disorder. If there was ever any doubt which party is without class, Jill Greenberg has ended the debate. Disgusting, but unfortunately, typical.

jovanone,

She was paid to do what? Take a picture that makes the liberal media's opposing candidate look evil? That sounds about right. This does not help Obama at all.

Which candidate would Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban vote for if they were able to? McCain or Obama?

Why blame all Democrats for the work of one person. If anyone should get a bad name it should be the Atlantic Monthly. I've seen and read worse in the National Enquirer. Mad Magazine has been lampooning since almost before my time. And God knows everyone is fair game on the Simpson's. Lighten up! If people base there opinions on these pictures they should be the one's who are ostracised.

Maria,

I would really appreciate it if you'd remove this post, because you're only giving it a broader platform.
The photo was taken by a very sick and twisted, hateful individual. I feel terribly sorry for people like her; so full of hatred and bitterness...are we supposed to be turned-on to Barack Obama because of this? Because the only thing turned in me is my stomach.
