Are you ready for this one?  A new study says... a man's attitude about women in the workplace can have a very definite effect on his salary. Researchers say men are still being rewarded for "cavemen" views.

Organizational psychologists say men who believe women should stay at home with the kids are making 11 thousand dollars more than men, who have more feminist attitudes.

So are you a caveman?  Or a cavewoman?  Should women stay at home. Be honest now.  And are you just saying that because you want to make more money? :)

And the women out there, don't you think we should get a cut of the coin?

I think there is some value to having A parent home w/their children, but doesn't have to necessarily be the woman! I am priviledged to be home with my children and opted out of a career to do so, my choice. I realize though that many women want a career and have been VERY successful doing so. It's sad to think that there are STILL men having a caveman like mentality! It's been proven that women can be AS successful in the work force ....I mean we've got a WOMAN running for V.P. don't we?

They better make at least that much more. In this day and age, with "mama" at home, he'll need all the $$$ he can earn.

Maria,

First of all who does these studies and where do they get their facts? I can’t believe men get rewarded for having that type of mentality. Wouldn’t that be discrimination?

I am being totally honest with you when I say I believe women should be making equal pay for equal work, I’m a big believer in that, and no I don’t think a women should be bare foot pregnant and stay in the kitchen either. And yes you should be getting your fair cut of the coin; after all, it’s all about the BENJAMINES, Isn’t it?????

I'm a stay at home Mom and I should be making more money doing this than any of the "cavemen" out there. The ones who want the women to stay home, want that because they could never do it and the ones who think otherwise should get bonuses quarterly!!!

So basically, we have a study suggesting that male brains have not completely evolved past their primitive beginnings. Great!

Jovanone, I thought the same thing! I honestly am so skeptical of any study, The variables and the outside factors. But hey, it's a talker. And JuneinMa perfectly put.

I'm a traditionalist, but I'm not exactly a limousine's-length away from affluence.

The truth of the matter is that God made men & women physiologically different. Many women see these differences and it makes them feel "inferior," so they clamor to be like men instead of embracing the most honorable position in the world; motherhood.
It's a lie from the liberal feminists of the world that being a stay-at-home mom is anything less than HONORABLE--worthy of HIGH PRAISE.
My wife works--but in a more equally-rewarding economy (one which didn't favor the dishonest--check the recent Wall St. woes for details...) she would LOVE to stay at home and be a full-time mom. I'm so thankful she's not as insecure as the Gloria Steinham's of the world.

Wasn't Fenway Park first opened around the time of the cavemen?

I'd have t see the research study. Check out the details of the research design....

I'm betting they never went off Wall Street to complete their sample....

Of app the BLEEP ideas....I have simple theory:

Equal pay for equal quality. Everything else is extraneous.

Maria,
How much money was WASTED ON THIS INANE
STUDY?
I can't believe men still think the woman should stay at home and be barefoot and pregnant.
Oh wait Barefoot?
That would be the CAVEMAN TALKING.
I'm really embarassed by this study, I mean just because I look like the caveman on the Gieco commercial, doesn't mean I think like that.

When men are aggressive in the work place it is seen as a good thing, but when a woman does it she is often precieved as being a
bit--.

Hard to believe this mentality is still alive and well in the workplace.

First of all; this is bullsheeznit. Secondly, if there's so much as a grain of truth to it, it would only prove the point I made earlier. Because a woman who's perceived as being a beeznitch in workplace is probably perceived that way from wearing her inferiority complex on her sleeve--causing her to "power-trip" and behave like a petulant, petty PIG.
But just as many aggressive men are perceived as "glass holes" as women are perceived as "beezinitches."

graham_Cracker - I can only assume your wife still walks 10 paces and to the left of you. I prefer my women to walk along side of me.

Not only do I work a 40 hr a week job, I also work 2 others, part time. I cook, clean, run errands, attend school functions and every other thing that comes my way. I have had more than a few men say that there is no way in hell they could EVER do what I do. I am not patting myself on the back and am not looking for praise but in this day and age when women DO work and take care of the family, they should be paid the same wage for what men do.

I do belive that there are jobs that men do that most, not all, women can not do, due to physical limitations, but then again, there are many jobs that women do that men can not do hmmmmmm oh yeah that's right, they just mess them up on purpose so that we dont ask them to do them again! LOL JUST KIDDING GUYS! Come on, when is the day going to come taht we just accept people for who and what they are and be EQUAL!!!! Admit that there are things we can and cant do but if we can both do them then treat both fairly!!!!

OK im done, (jumping off my soapbox)

Have a great day everyone!

Well - that is one of the dumbest studies I've heard about.

Women (and everyone!) should get equal pay for equal work.

I think in another generation or so the "bearfoot and pregnant" mentality of those stogy old men currently running things should be gone.

Maria, good to see that you and Jovaone are skeptical of studies....My scientific background has taught me 90% plus are bogus....Unfortunately you report many of them.....haha....just kidding!

It shows that you are independent thinkers, although Jov maybe you phrased it poorly, but you don't speak for all females, those who choose the other way should be entitled with the same dignity you demand.

Michelle....welcome to the blogs....(I'm a very observant caveman.....) You said it absolutely the best....

I hope you all aren't working for Geico!! Remember, cavemen aren't stupid, maybe they are making all that money doing those commercials.

I wouldn't last 5 minutes as an actual "caveman". Living in a cave and running from dinasours? Not for me.

I think this study is a crock of dung, probably put out by some bitter man-hating woman.

That's all.

Nothing wrong with being a stay-at-home parent. Any family that can afford to have that luxury is very fortunate, and better off in the long run.

Why do I get the feeling that Beacon Hill had something to do with the commission of this study? Oh, wait, that's right, it sounds completely up their alley!

And, Maria, if by "cavemen" they're talking about Neanderthals, there's been new research done on them. They may have been more like modern humans (Homo Sapiens) than was originally thought. Things that make you go "hmm"...
