Wow, what a shock...former Boston lead singer Brad Delp dead at 55! I couldn't believe the headline. Boston's debut album was outstanding and a must play at every party I attended back in the day. "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Foreplay/LongTime"...classics all.
Come on, who didn't listen closely to Foreplay to try and hear the soft drum beats as they grew louder and louder eventually leading to the one of a kind guitar chords that would rock in the start of "Long Time"? For air guitar heroes it was pure bliss!
Remember the wait for the second album? I read today it was only two years...felt like 22! The other albums weren't bad...pretty good in fact, I even have an RTZ CD. But none of the other albums were as good as the first.
While working at WGIR radio in Manchester, New Hampshire in the early '90's...I was walking down the hall one day going from the AM side of the building to the FM side when I spotted this guy in the lobby. I went into the rock station's deejay booth and said there's a guy in the lobby who's a dead ringer for Brad Delp...and the deejay said...oh, he's here? Apparently he had a recording studio in the Granite State.
A brush with greatness...rest in peace Brad Delp.
