Life without Tom Brady...its an unfortunate reality for the rest of this season anyway. So is Matt Cassel the guy going forward? Has the perennial backup finally landed in the driver's seat...of the Ferrari? He did fill in admirably and helped lead the Pats to the win and he certainly knows the playbook and the personnel, but I gotta think they'll have a veteran QB in the fold in the next day or so for insurance.

Broadcast reports have Chris Simms coming in for a workout. Last I checked, Dante Culpepper's retired and available and I'd love to know what Doug Flutie thinks. There, I said it. Now what do you have to say?

Please don't ask Flutie about this. I will change the channel.

I liked what I saw in Cassel. Yesterday was the real test and preseason is a joke.

The Chiefs sucked...Cassel was marginal. He threw three BLEEP interceptions that the freakin Chief's guys dropped. One he hid the Chief between the numbers...

Guys how long before some nimrod calls WEEI and tries to make Matt Cassel another tom brady? That is brady came in for an injured drew bledsoe and the rest is history. But the differnece is that belichick who was never a bledsoe guy was eventually going to replace bledsoe with brady if bledsoe had never been hurt,.I still think with the best coach in NFL history on our side and leaders like moss, bruschi, harrison and vrabel the pats will still go at least 10-6 or 11-5 and make the playoffs. After that its a crapshoot

I'm with paulnofsky. In bill we trust. The Patriots are a team. Not one player.

I hope I don't have to listen to people making comments like that. There is only one Brady and he proved that more two seasons ago, when there weren't great receivers lining up.

As far a Belichick, I think is a great coach, but last year just a good coach. I think he lost sight of the superbowl in his quest for the perfect season.

I agree with Chip. KC lost that game, the Pats didn't win it.

KC had a subpar QB knocked out of the game and replaced by a subpar back up. Their second year receiver Bowe drop a touchdown that should have been caught.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how they do against Favre and the Jets.

I think Dante Culpepper would be a great idea, IF he's willing to play again. He was a decent QB, has experience, and could probably make something work with our team. I don't know why they are wasting time with Simms when there's a perfect oppertunity with Culpepper. They should at least entertain them both, work them both with the team, see how it goes. We need someone better than Casell if we are going to go anywhere.

It's just a shame he had to get the initial injury fooling aroung with that greedy cupcake he calls a girlfriend.
but then you can't expect athletes to stay home and do nothing at all either. we just need someone to hook up with Moss.

I think and feel that they will be fine, FOOTBALL is not a 1 man sport. 11 people move the ball up and down the field. Not 1. He was a major part of the team, and without him we will have a weakness, but a team isnt 1 person. The patriots will make the playoffs that i am 100% sure of. And if cassel isnt as good was we would like? Randy could give his old ViKINGS buddy a call he'd pop outta retirement for the pats i bet.

I do think they will get a veteran, also. I don't think the preseason can fairly be called an indicator, but neither can the win against the Chiefs. I think Matt will do well because he has to. People step up and do what needs to get done when they have no choice. Three days ago, Cassel thought, maybe I'll get more playing time this year....And now.. well he;s got a whole heck of a lot more. I say, have faith in Bill, and the whole team.
