You survived it...the worst week in the history of Wall Street. Not exactly something to celebrate, but we are still standing, the world hasn't come to an end...nor has the market...at least not yet. Across the country 401k's have been beaten to a pulp and stock portfolios have been dramatically deflated, so the big question is...what does this week hold? Who knows? Not even the best market prognosticators would dare venture a guess in this climate.

It's come down to this, last Thursday I was sitting at a light and actually began clapping when I heard over the radio the market was "up" 73 points! However, my euphoria was shortlived, because only minutes later the Dow was once again diving south on it's way to another whopping loss. Then Friday rolls around and I find myself cheering a 128 point "loss" like it was some kind of super gain? Baby steps...I guess that's the way we move forward...each day hoping things will turn around. History says it will and that's what I'm betting on...how 'bout you? What's gonna help you get through this economic crisis?

Ock, I start the hair dyeing process tomorrow. That's gonna help me get through at least a good part of this week. (Going from naturally black to a color light enough to show the blue, then waiting a few days to actually GO blue so I don't burn all my hair off!) Then, there's always the tech supporting I do for people. Bad economy or not, someone I know is always going to need help with something technical!

I don't know Mark, what can you do? You just have to sit and wait and hope everyone's 401k's or now 001k's recover. Unfortunately I think it's going to take years for everyone to recover their losses, so I hope you’re not looking forward to retiring any time soon, and remember, this too shall pass.

Honestly, I think any illusory hope for the stock market will be just that; like a mirage of an oasis in Death Valley, California.
This ship is sinking, people. Find your life-vests.

Graham:

Not only is the ship sinking--Congress is dancing on deck--more bail outs--more ear marks--maybe we can get a nice spa treatment too!

Chip,

Yesterday was most certainly NOT an accurate barometer of the stock market's volatility.
It was a holiday; which means one or two people could cause an unnatural (in yesterday's case)--UPWARD--surge.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm predicting at least a 300 point drop today...maybe four or five hundred...
I'm certainly not "panicking;" just being realistic.

What ws the volume, Graham Cracker? Check the volume. It was a high volume day. Today there was an small drop secondary to profit taking...

Don't panic. Oil's under $80...gas is back to close t 3 bucks...consumer prices will drop...relax.
