The evidence appears to be overwhelming. Former gravedigger Tom Keigney said desecrations happened at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His most disturbing allegation: That Delia Keavy was removed from her casket and thrown into the mud to make room for her husband’s casket.

Today, the Keavy grave was exhumed and the evidence supports Keigney’s story. Mr. Keavy’s casket and liner were intact. But not Mrs. Keavy’s. In the watery grave, there were pieces of the liner and twisted metal from the casket, along with the remains of Mrs. Keavy.

The explanation from the Archdiocese of Boston: The casket’s condition is the result of  “…the passage of time and the effect of natural elements.”

Give me a break. So why was Mr. Keavy’s casket and liner in perfect condition? Yes, he was buried a few years after Mrs. Keavy, but that explanation doesn’t pass the smell test.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. The Archdiocese of Boston doesn’t have a lot of credibility and for a long time it insisted pedophile priests were not an issue. The public knew better then and knows better now, too.

The more charm they use to distract from the matter, you know the more they have to hide.

Round 2 w/ the Archdiocese: first the children, then the dead people. Are there any vulnerable, without the ability to speak, whom they haven't abused and stripped of their dignity and then discarded?

I differentiate between true priests and the criminals which hide behind "collars" and the mystique the collars provide. In this case, the "rotten apples" are on the top of the proverbial "barrel."

Good work, Mike. Stay on 'em and expose the criminals from the sincere. The sincere will speak the hard truth irrespective of the consequences. That's how you tell the difference.

Mike,

Are you as amazed as I am that these folks have not hired better publicists?

Thank you, Mike, for keeping on this story. This is very important, and while it's a tragedy, I hope that Mr. Keigney and the family of Mr and Mrs Keavy are able to go on from here. And Matt's right...They're going to need much better publicists after this one.

What is wrong with the Archdiocese of Boston ?!?!

Are we (the public) supposed to be totally
stupid ?

Are we (the public) supposed to be that blind ???

After listening to this story and how the Archdiocese continues to cover it up, just make me what to change religions. Everything I was taught about the church growing up as a child has been destroyed along with Mrs Keavy's grave, and they call themselves Catholics.

Following the story on Mrs Keavy just makes me want to change religions. Everything I was taught the church stood for as a child has just been a charade. Those in charge in the Archdiocese need to remember who they serve and how they will be judged in the end for their actions. They will answer to a higher authority

unbelievable!!! I work in a cemetery up in NH and we have had disinterments that have been buried alot longer than Mrs. Keavy has been and sure their is damage to caskets from normal wear and tear. but to have a metal casket mangled the way it was.that is just wrong. their is no way wether and ground conditions would do that. it was probably done by a backhoe and careless workers.May Mrs. Keavy finally rest in peace and her family finally get some closure.

Nothing surprises me when it comes to the archdiocese, they are always trying to cover up when there wrong or blame some one else. I had a feeling he was telling the truth and the public can see what goes on when there backs are turned. When we think someone is at piece there not. WTG Fox.....

The Archdiocese of Boston should hold their heads down in shame. Like Birth, Death is as sacred and "our" loved ones should be treated with the outmost respect. GREED AND MONEY that is what it looks like. My heart goes out to the Keavy family.

PatRose,
You're doing the right thing asking Mike Beaudet to look into the nursing home abuse at your former employer. Somewhere on this blogspace Mike wrote that he went into journalism in order to "give a voice to the voiceless."

You sound like a pretty feisty old girl yourself! Good for you. Thanks.

Absolutely horrifying. We need to make sure that this story gets an increasing amount of coverage through as many media outlets as possible. I'm starting by sending out letters to various local media organizations to hopefully encourage awareness and Monday coverage of this story. Furthermore, protests at Sunday mass would help. I strongly encourage EVERYONE to take action + get involved (non-violent). The organization of the Boston Archdiocese desparately needs to be dissolved so that the local churches can be returned to their proper owners- those who attend them.
Excellent reporting.

>>>PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE CLAIMS OF ABUSE IN THE NURSING HOMES, PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW.

The family of Delia Keavy would like to extend their gratitude for all the prayers and words of encouragement that have been sent our way. At a time like this, these small gestures mean more than you could imagine. The pain of yesterday's events can't be described in words. I realize time heals all wounds but the horiffic images of yesterday will haunt us for a liftime. Most people bury their pets with more dignity, respect and compassion than was allowed my grandmother. The healing process will begin when thoes responsible step up to the plate and take ownership of their actions and appologize to the family. We can only hope that by making this story public we can prevent this from happening to others. Thanks again to Tom K and to Fox 25 for their responsible journalism!

Hi
I can only say I am sorry for all you went thru yesterday ,it must have been horrible. We hope you are all OK.
And to all the nay sayers that wrote horrible things about my dad Tom Keigney and said this could never have happened, I say the facts have been shown. He was 100% right. I hope bgaff can give me a few reasons why any grave site would look this way ( Bgaff) is a Funeral director and said in prev blogs that this was absurd, that this could never ever happen. Well??? come on bgaff lets hear from you now. I would like to Thank Mrs. Keavys family and Mike at Fox and all the Fox people for having the guts to take a chance and believe someone (Tom)that no one would listen to for 20+ years.
Too bad the Archdioces did not listen when he told them about this. They try to bury there mistakes.

Shame on them once again!! Did they not learn the first time that covering things up only backfires? Did they say that the metal casket twisted, and broke over time?!?! Thats weird, I did not know that happend to metal. My heart goes out to that poor family.

I'm not sure how to react to all this. Yes, the Archdiocese of Boston lied AGAIN and tried to cover things up AGAIN, and it was wrong. All of it. However, how does that justify turning your back on Catholicism as a whole? Because higher-ups lie? The logical conclusion, then, would be to leave the country because our politicians lie too. Give up on all of America for the same reasons.
I, for one, will not give up on either Catholicism or God just because the Church's government is run by humans and, by definition, corrupt. I know what the Church was created to accomplish, and I'm not about to give up on that purpose just because the higher-ups in this diocese have forgotten it.
