Here it is 11:56 PM on Valentines Day, and guess what?  That's right, no Valentine date, love or otherwise...maybe next year.  Thank goodness I have family...

Watching the TV tonight, about dating, I understood why, I do what I do...all this meeting people online, travelling to a meeting place, spending an hour, or more, with someone I'm really not interested in, was very time consuming .  I had heard about speed dating and at first, I was hesitant, but then...what did I have to lose .

Talk about time management! 10-12 dates in 1.5 hours!  I started participating in the speed dating events, and then...Voila! Now, I''m a regular matchmaker...lol.  By running the parties, I get to check out the merchandise (sorry guys...lol) and make a little money, too.  Isn't love grand ;)

Maybe I'll be responsible for my own destiny...what a nice thought, (the old maid thing really didn't appeal to me).

Happy Valentines Day to Lovers and Others...

Hi, Suzie, glad you are having fun, but I'm not quite 'getting' what "parties" or "speed-dating events" you are talking about. Could you be a bit more specific?

Being a single widow with no special person in my life, I didn't get any Valentines, either, so don't think you are alone...I'm sure there are a LOT of us for one reason or another. ;)

Hello C_Fox, there are several speed dating companies out there...8 minute dating, cupid.com, 6 minute dating...etc. I started going to these parties a year ago. It's a great way to meet 10-12 men in one evening. I haven't found MY man yet, but I'm still looking. In these parties people sign up online and attend an "event". Men and women are numbered 1-10 say...and the women remain seated, while the men go from table to table to "date" for a period of 6-8 minutes. This goes on until you've met all 10 men. The next day you go in the computer, and "score" your event, and if both you and a man pick each other, cupid strikes and the company "hooks you up" via email, and you can decide between the two of you, if you'd like to set up another meeting. After all the matchmaker.com, plentyoffish.com, match.com, etc. sites I had been on; emailing, going to meet someone, driving home; then come to find out I wasted 3 hours of my time on someone I really didn't like, the speed dating was a great way of meeting alot of men, on a one-on-one basis, in a great party atmosphere, in the space of 2 hours. So...hence here I am running the Cupid parties here in southern NH. You're probably in MASS?? There are some in the Boston area, one called "Lunch dates", but I think that one only gives you one date at a time. 8 minute dating and Cupid.com are all over the country, so maybe you could look online for things in your area. There are also these groups called MEETUP's, all over...I belong to several of those. These "meetups" are different people from all over Mass and NH, that get toge

OMG! Ten to twelve at a time, Suzie? I can hardly handle one guy at a time! LOL

I went on a site for about six months, went on about four dates and threw in the towel! One of the hardest parts was getting loose from ones I didn't want to be with. I don't know which is worse...being the dumpee or the dumper! I doubt I'd be any good at one of those parties; I'd feel like I was on the auction block, or I was the one looking over the herd. I've come to the conclusion love comes unexpectedly and when you aren't looking for it. Of course, there's nothing wrong if one wants to increase the odds by setting the stage, so to speak. Plus, it can just be a way to socialize and get out with people and have fun.

I'm suprised you haven't met "him" yet...you seem to have a spunky personality that would be most appealing to many men.

Thanks for cluing me in, though...interesting.
