So, now we have these huge throngs of union backers for casino's. Of course, just another excuse for the legalized Mafia (i.e., unions) to have an even greater presence in an already hideously corrupt state. JUST what we need (insert eye roll here)
More union controlled jobs mean more "inside jobs" for sons and daughters and cousins and nieces and nephews and in-laws and so on and so forth. More state pols and "connected" state and local workers getting no-show jobs or HIGHLY overpaid ones (or both).
At one point in time, unions served a purpose for protecting people from being taken advantage of and to be paid a fair wage. Now we have unions making DEMANDS and using extortion (no other word for it) to get what they want. The political power unions have gained has made them nothing less than an extension of the mafia or the very CORRUPT politicians that infest the state and local government in MA and in every political party across the country.
Oh, how our forefathers and original union founders would turn in theiir graves if they knew how perverted their original concepts of fairness and just governance have become....

So, our esteemed pols don't have enough legitimate work to do. They have to go out and try and find ways to further ensure Massachusetts stays at the top of the Looney Left great places to visit list. They must be doubting the staying power of this insanely liberal state to further attract the Moonbat dregs from every corner of the country.
To quote the AP:
'The bill's sponsor, state Rep. Byron Rushing, D-Boston, said there's more than just legal house-cleaning behind the legislation.
"There was a feeling that we shouldn't have laws that we never use," he said. "And there were a few laws that could be used and shouldn't."'
Hmmm, exactly what laws shouldn't be used? Let's see:
Blasphemy - maybe a bit steep on the fines, etc. but if someone desecrated a Koran in public or perhaps burned "Allah" in effigy, public outcry from the looney left and every rabble-rousing dingbat in Boston would flood the media and the person would be deemed a "hater". God's fair game, as far as liberal America (especially the ACLU) is concerned.
Spitting in public - there are disgusting people hocking a lugey ALL THE TIME in public. They SHOULD be fined, hell, arrested! I shouldn't have to see it or listen to it just because someones parents didn't teach them the very basics of COMMON COURTESY (probably the same type of parents who didn't teach their kids my yard is not a trash recepticle). Why don't we just let people p*ss on the sidewalk too?
Adultery - as if we didn't debase moral standards as it is in this modern day Soddom and Gomorrah of the northeast. Sure, let's tell people it's ok to screw someone else, after all, it's only wrong if some loudmouth televangilist gets caught doing it, right? Not surprising from the people who fell head over heals for "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"....but want to impeach a guy who had the full backing of congress to go to war.
Tattooing - hell, if you're stupid enough to let some random Joe Schmoe try his hand at tattooing on you, you deserve to have a Mickey Mouse that looks more like Ted Kennedy permanently on you.....
Rushing further states (regarding the law prohibiting couples banned from marrying if their home state prohibits it):
"The 1913 law is an example of what happens when you have a law on the books that shouldn't be there," he said.
Rushing also said there's nothing stopping a prosecutor from using one of the old laws in a new context. He pointed to the example of a rarely used 1913 law that barred the state from marrying any couple who couldn't marry in their home state. That law is not among those in the "blue law" repeal bill.
(*sarcasm on*) Our pols and the liberal judges of MA deliberately (mis)interpreting a law for their own purpose?!? The HELL you say! (*sarcasm off*)
How's about actually dong something USEFUL with your time, MA pols? Wait, I can't hear your reply over all the maniacle laughter.....

So, the other day I'm getting my 3-year old up from his nap and the first thing out of his mouth is "did you see any idiots, Daddy?". I figured out pretty quickly that he was referring to the fact that I often use the word for the many self-absorbed drivers I encounter. I know it isn't the greatest thing to be (inadvertently) teaching my boys but these drivers make it hard to ignore them and NOTcomment. I don't meant to rationalize my behavior but at least I restrain from calling them what I REALLY want to "f-ing idiots".
I make sure and tell my son that the "idiots" I occasionally refer to are the ones who are "not nice people and treat others without repect (or even a second thought). I make sure he understands that these "idiots" seemingly care about no one but themselves. We all can be 'absent minded' at times but that's not what I mean nor those I am referring to here.
You know the ones I am talking about:
*The ones that obviously were taught that YIELD signs are optional. Probably the SAME ones that think STOP signs mean "slow down imperceptably and then GUN IT".
*The ones that treat on-ramps on highways as if the 55 (or 65) mph speed limit applies the MOMENT they hit the on ramp - and then refuse to look to the left for traffic as they come onto the highway.
*People that treat the OFF ramp from a highway as a place to test their accleration (see YIELD sign, above).
*People that must think they need to enter rotary's at full speed to slingshot themselves through the traffic and that the norm is to come flying up on the bumper of the guy in front of you. After all, driving IS a race, right?
*People that tailgate you in the right lanes (when you are doing 65 already)
*People that BOMB through residential neighborhood streets (LOADED with kids playing) at 50 MPH
*People that come to pick someone up at a house at 10 pm and then sit in their cars honking away - obviously too LAZY to get out and ring the doorbell...
*People who refuse to let you out of a parking lot into traffic even though they have a RED LIGHT anyway?!?!?
I must run into these same people in the grocery store too because they are the people who block and entire lane with their carts and then glare at you when you try and squeeze by.
*They're the same ones who bash into you with their carts and then speed off without even giving you a glance, let alone a simple "oops, excuse me"
*They're the same ones who insist on going in the "12 items or less" lane with 30 items.
*Their the same ones who watch their kids knock over displays of groceries/goods and don't bother picking them up.
*They are the same people who allow their kids to wear 'Heelies' in public
*They are the same people who OBVIOUSLY didn't teach their kids to NOT throw their trash in the street.
*The same people that cough and sneeze OVER AND OVER in public without covering their mouths.
*They are the same people that will read this post and reply that I need to 'get a handle on my anger' (good excuse for being one of the idiots I refer to and refusing to accept reposnsibility for their actions).
So, yes, my boy, I do see idiots. Almost EVERYWHERE I look......

Ok, so from what I can gather, three white teens hung a noose from a tree in this Louisiana town the prosecutor decided not to press charges.
Somewhere along the way, six black teens beat up a white teen and now they are being charged. So, surprise, surprise, there is a "rally of support" for them (aka "riot") because of the so-called disparity in "justice"
Of course the usual suspects show up - Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton - to "show support" (aka incite the riot further and demonize "whitey" under the guise of righteous indignation).
"Reverend" Al says that ""You cannot have justice meted out based on who you are rather than what you did" - EXACTLY Al!!!! Beating someone up is a SERIOUS crime, especially six on one!! Hanging a noose is STUPID and IGNORANT but not on the same level of severity. If someone (is stupid and ignorant enough to) give some other guy the finger and maybe call him a slur, it DOESN'T justify SIX people beating the guy up, no matter HOW much of an idiot he is.
Jesse and Al claim to be looking for "justice". They don't even know the MEANING of the word and are as much of a DISGRACE to the title of "Reverend" as the child molestering priests were to the term "father". They are NOT "men of peace", FAR from it....
This case is Reginald Denny all over again.....

So, I'm looking out my front door just now and this kid, probably 12 or so, launches a plastic cup with the remnants of his slushee and a straw splattering ALL over the street. He strolls off. I open the front door and say to him "hey, are you planning on leaving that trash in the middle of the street?" The kid replies "I don't have a trash barrel". When I asked him why didn't he throw it away at home, he says "my house is way down there". I told the kid I was tired of picking up soda cans and candy wrappers and popsicle sticks and various other trash the neighborhood kids feel fit to deposit in my yard/driveway.
A few months back, our "Little Tykes" basketball net disappeared from the back yard and, magically, one appeared behind the apartment complex across the street a few days later. I had reported it to the cops when i first noticed it missing and called them again, just to be "by the book". The same cop came back and he and I went up to the apartment of the kid who "found it" (he had written his name all over it in magic marker (indelible, of course). He mother asked him where he got it (if YOUR 7-year old came home with a $30 toy you didn't buy, wouldn't YOU ask where it came from right away?). The kid claims to have "found it". I said yeah, in MY yard. His mother yells at me "he's 7 years old" as a child of about 18-months old toddles up to me and hands me a cigarette (I'm not kidding). I told the kid I don't smoke but she seems insistent.
A week later 4 solar lights disappear from my front yard. The stakes are still there, just the lights are gone. Payback for daring to assert myself? Probably. Can't wait to see what the little darlings have in store for Halloween after I give them candy...
I am raising my kids:
* To respect everyone and take no undue BLEEP from anyone, classmates or adults.
* That elders are to be respected unless given a reason to treat them otherwise.
* Authority is to be respected but not blindly (and to discuss it with me ore their mother if they have a question about one of the prior classes of people).
* I plan on making sure my kids put their trash in a barrel, not on the neighbors lawn or in their bushes.
* Help those less fortunate than you and the elderly.
* Say "please, thank you and excuse me" as necessary.
* Look out for number one but don't walk all over anyone.
* My kids will have curfews and be in after dark and they CERTAINLY won't be riding their bikes on traffic-heavy streets like mine at 10 pm, weekend or not (did I mention these kids range from about 5 to no more than 12 and they're still roaming the streets at 11:30 sometimes?)
My question is this: AM I ALONE ON THIS?!?!?!? Are a LOT of todays kids NOT taught ANY manners or basic social skills?
I called this political because it has EVERYTHING to do with todays society and kids are being raised. Thoughts?

OK, so I'm reading the "letters to the editor" section of the Herald last night and I come across a letter that just SCREAMS what is wrong with Massachusetts and society in general.
In the letter, the writer proclaims that residents of Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan should get tax breaks because there is so much crime and violence in those neighborhoods so "obviously" it's the fault of the police and state and local governments not doing anything about it.
Um, ARE YOU FOR REAL?!?! I would ask if this is a joke letter but A) it is not April Fools Day nor Halloween, so there'd be no "tricks or treats" and B) I've seen this mentality before, it's not a surpising attitude.
Gee, writer, are you SURE it has nothing to do with these thngs?
* INCREDIBLE rates of single-parent homes at increasingly alarming rates?
* Homes where there are six kids and four different last names, no "dad" in sight?
* The "Stop Snitchin'" culture that is not only accepted but fostered in these neighborhoods?
* Grandmothers at age 30 or 35 (I'm sure you can do the math on that)
* Kids living in projects but spending $300 on rims for their "ride"?
* The attitude that someone OWES you something besides that which the rest of us are getting?!?!
I could go ON and ON with examples.
I'm willing to bet the police presence in these neighborhoods is HIGHER than that of these "other areas" which don't experience this behavior.
I'm willing to bet my TAXES would go DOWN if we didn't need to subsidize neighborhoods that experience this violence and crime (and this wasn't the People's Republic of Massachusetts).
I'm willing to bet areas that have markedly less numbers of drive-by shootings and drug dealing also have fewer single-parent homes.
Dog fighting is also popular in these same neighborhoods and others like them. Michael Vick is a MULTI-MILLIONAIRE so the poverty excuse doesn't work as a defense there....
The various "rappers" getting caught with guns are MULTI-MILLIONAIRES with bodyguards, so excuses don't work there either....
I'm willing to bet that I will be called a racist and various other worn-out expressions that are used simply due to the lack of a rational, well-thought, logical response?
The phenomenon of people's lives turning around and getting better starts in ONE place - their own thinking and behavior, not what someone else did or didn't do....
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY - a foreign concept to MANY, far, far too many....
