Who will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals?

Will it be the Celtics, who dominated in the regular season but had a tough time with the lowly Atlanta Hawks?

OR

Will it be Lebron the Cavs, with arguably the best player in the NBA, who is leaning on a no-name supporting cast that features a few former Celtic "not-so-greats"?

Sound off!

Gonna be a tough, grind-it-out defensive series and I like the Celts to take this in 7 again...There's no way Wally and Delonte are gonna come into the Gahden and beat us...

I think the Cleveland LeBrons will put a good fight, but... as bad as they looked against the Hawks, I still like the c's to pull it out. I think the series is definitely going 7, but they earned homecourt for a reason, and it will certainly continue to come in handy.

If I'm doc, I let Bron Bron score 40 a night, as long as his teammates dont get more than another 40. Make the supporting cast beat you if they can...

but can you imagine the painful irony of Wally or Delonte beating the C's and sending us home for the year? As Sir Charles would say, "That would be just terrr'ble. TERRR-BULL!"

I like the Cavs in 6 games. LaBron and the two big guys Zydruna Ilgauskas and Ben, Wallace, this team has a better defense and offence than Boston has. I think that Detroit will be harder to beat, but they will win in 6 games there to. God bless you all and no matter what I like what the Cavs have done this year and last year, Karl.

Karl,
are you really going to throw Ben Wallace at us? He's 72 years old!!! and if not, he's definetly playing like it. I think Ilgauskus needs to be huge for Cleveland to win this series and don't forget about the two ex-Celtics. Wally and Delonte could be factors. But Ben Wallace. C'mon, you gotta come at us with something better than that. He was done when he was with the Bulls.

Karl I gotta call you out on your comment that Cleveland has a better defense and offense than the Celtics? What are you basing that on? The Celtics averaged 100 points/game and Cleveland was towards the bottom of the league with 96 points/game, the C's shot 47.5% from the field but your amazing Cavs had the 3rd worst fg % shooting 43% from the field...oh you want to talk defense? The C's gave up less points than every team in the NBA other than Detroit...the C's gave up 90.3 points/game but Cleveland gave up 96.7 and for opponents fg% the C's held teams to the worst shooting mark in the league on 41.9% shooting while Cleveland allowed teams to shoot 45% from the field against them.

So what were you basing your argument on again?

Thank you guys for your comments, I would like to reply thanks. You see the C's do have a good team and do well against most teams. Now if they played the Cavs every day then have those statistics you will have a very good point. No one thought that the Cavs could beat Detroit last year and they did. My bottom line is FAITH baby Faith, LOL. Thanks again for the reply and God bless, Karl.

C'mon now Karl you can do better than "faith." It's gonna be a tough series but do you honestly think the Cavs have what it takes to knock of the Celts in a 7 game series?

Ok, at this writing:

Celts 1
Cavs 0

Josh, I think we are going to have to change your other blog to PRINCE James until further notice. If they win this series, we can elevate him to King.

Butch, I think he's 74. Young spirit though.

Karl, you have to stand by your team. Nothing wrong with that. I don't know that I would call the Cavs an underdog necessarily. Not in the same sense Atlanta was an underdog. Let's all sit back, watch the games, see what happens.

Well I gotta say....while LeBron is by far one of the best talents we have ever seen he is also one of the biggest cry babies as well. What was up with that phantom Sam Cassell whack to the face? The C's are lucky to have escaped last night with a win in an all out defensive battle...I'm looking forward to Game 2 and I hope Ray finally shows up and I'd like to see Pierce get himself going to the basket.

Yeah, I'm not sure that Pierce was there all night. He was not the usual scoring Pierce. However, you are right Josh, great defense game on both ends. A little sloppiness, especially at the beginning, but great defensive game. Had the Celts played this defense against Atlanta, they would have been gone in 4 games. I hope the defense is here to stay!

first of all boston has a great team, but they have to buy the first game because i have never seen a rookie like rondo get so many calls in my life,,,,way to go nba another horrible officiated game..... jon

Let's see here...Rondo is not a rookie. He's a second-year player. On top of that how could you possibly complain about a player getting "so many" calls, which isn't even true and at the same time LeBron gets calls if someone breathes on him.

boston does have a great team, but they are not playing great even thou there 2-1. After watching
game one and seeing rondo get a foul called every time he was breated on i knew we were in trouble... nba officiating is the worse officiated sport in any proffesional sport.

May 12, 2008 | 6:42 AM

still should not get so many calls

boston will not when the nba finals you cannot beat ne team in the west right now...this is not like baseball there is a salary cap you and new york cannot buy a championship

krllerj
May 12, 2008 | 6:47 AM

and the only reason you won the world series last year is because the umpire squeezed carmona so bad in game 6 we had to slow pitch the ball over the center of the plate so you guys could win another championship or they wouldnt call strikes

May 12, 2008 | 6:51 AM

you mean paul pierce yea every time we get within a foot of him they call a foul....you guys are a joke for the talent you have

This is some pretty funny commentary...Rondo has barely played in this series since Doc has leaned on Cassell a lot more in a slow-down type series such as this. Rondo is only averaging 4 ft's/game so not sure I completely understand what you're talking about.

As for LeBron the dude flops more than Vlade Divac did back in the day. It's quite pathetic. That "flagrant" foul called on Cassell in Game 1 he wasn't even touched let alone hitting him hard enough to warrant a flagrant foul. I guess you can't blame LeBron though because if his acting works might as well continue.

Unfortunately for you the Celtics can still win a title this year. The Celtics dominated the West during the regular season and it's not as if the Celts look awful in the playoffs. It's the NBA and things shift from game-to-game. We're still up 2-1 against the defending Eastern Conf. champs and the Celts will advance.
