As much as I hate to say it, on it's face, it would appear the Governor Patrick gave pay hikes to the right people-District Attorneys and to hire staff to direct federal dollars to Massachusetts.

I do however, have a few questions. Is it appropriate and common for a Governor to have staff in Washington that is dedicated to going after federal dollars?  Isn't that the function of US Senators and Congressmen?

How about going for a "home run" and cutting some of the wasteful salaries in state government?  Is there a plan like that in the works?  Anyone who can help me out with the answers to some of these questions-please weigh in.

I am so sick of hearing about the foliage for those who like to "leaf peep."  Does anyone actually ever have time to load up the car and go look at the fall leaves?  It's a quaint idea but who exactly has time to do it?

I heard on the morning news the bust involving the mother in Lawrence who was growing pot in her kid's bedroom.  Her comment was that "it was a mistake."  Does anyone believe that she actually felt that this was a "mistake" like using a curse in front of a child or forgetting to send him to school with lunch money?

The only "mistake" would be not sending this woman, and all others who would cripple their children's future a strong message that subjecting a child to this "street culture" of boyfriends with pot plants and a life of a criminal negates any parent's right to continue on in that role.  All the emotion aside, at the very least, the criminal justice system needs to take a proactive approach in stemming the training of future criminals and societal leeches.

How much time will be wasted on the Enquirer story about John Edwards' infidelity with a campaign videographer?  We all know it will be too much-because people love a train wreck, and a guy who carries on a long affair while holding his wife's hand, announcing that she has near terminal cancer is a train wreck.  The question is, will Edwards be crazy enough to continue on?  Will the increased exposure (albeit, negative exposure) actually bolster his popularity in a deranged, Clinton-esque way?

Am I the only one who sees "One-Termer" in my tea leaves for Deval Patrick?  He barely gets along with members of his own party, he spent the first year of his term of office making amateurish mistakes (drapes, desks, cadillacs, his wife's secretary etc.)  Who exactly is advising the Governor?  Who told him that he didn't need to make an appearance at the fire scene where the Boston firefighters were killed?  "No problem, Governor-wait until your five week vacation is over-the grieving family and stunned firefighters will understand-oh and be sure to announce that Romney left the state budget in a severe state of deficit in the same week that you buy $17,000 worth of curtains for your office.  Nobody will notice the Cadillac upgrade, either."  Make the federal bust of New Bedford bust of illegal immigrants about getting them sent back to Massachusetts-not about the failure of the federal and state government to communicate."  It is bad enough that he doesn't catch onto the unbelievably bush-league political blunders but, he is paying a bunch of hacks to give him this bad advice.

Could it be that he has failed to replace the old Romney hacks and they are secretly sabotaging him?  No wait, there has been no shortage of blatantly obvious high-level appointments made in order to reward contributors and supporters-but if they are only hacks and don't know the first thing about running the government, then who is?  The same old hacks appointed by the previous governor?  What do you think?  Can Patrick win reelection or is he a one-termer?  Sabotage from within or monumental incompetence?

It hasn't rained in forever.  Nothing grows-even Cindy Fitzgibbons had trouble with her garden this year-and that's with an expert guiding her way!  Is it global warming?  Is the drought that is causing my vegetables (LeSeur Baby Peas) to be priced so high?  Is the effect of global warming changing our weather pattern?

If Al Gore (inventor of the internet) says it's so, and Tony D. agrees, then it must be the case.  What do you think.
