Patrick Signs Spending Bill That Includes Pay Hikes

As much as I hate to say it, on it's face, it would appear the Governor Patrick gave pay hikes to the right people-District Attorneys and to hire staff to direct federal dollars to Massachusetts.

 I do however, have a few questions. Is it appropriate and common for a Governor to have staff in Washington that is dedicated to going after federal dollars?  Isn't that the function of US Senators and Congressmen? 

How about going for a "home run" and cutting some of the wasteful salaries in state government?  Is there a plan like that in the works?  Anyone who can help me out with the answers to some of these questions-please weigh in.

1. With Congress' approval rate at 11%, I don't blame him for failing to trust that they are doing anything other than covering their tails.

2. Raising salaries for the right people is the only complement I have heard for Deval in a long, long time. And I voted for him enthusiastically. Not going to happen again unless a lot of things change. Not even change, but unless things start happening! He's like a sleeper cell.

Vermonter, I agree with you on both points but maybe with an 11% approval rating, it would take only a light tap rather than a staff to get some federal buckeroos sent back to Massachusetts. On it's face, a staff to motivate or congressional leaders seems like a lobby to me and it is a sad statement when the taxpayer needs to pay psuedo-lobbyists to light a fire under elected officials who work for us. Talk about throwing in the towel!!

I see how the Govenor gave himself an almost 5% pay hike too. He obviously thinks he's doing a pretty good job - too bad the rest of us don't think so highly of his perfomance...

Funny, people bashed Romney but at least he acknowledged he (and Muffy too) was a millionaire and didn't need to accept a paycheck from us taxpayers. Obviously with his Cadillac tastes Deval needs to chisel a few more bucks from us any way he can.....

I WANT A RAISE!!!Come on Patrick.If you get a "RAISE" for doing NOTHING!!!,I want one for working 50+hrs a week and I can't save 10 cents towards retirement.My wife with MS,who works 40+ too.Come on Teddy,Kerry,Mayor Moron.
How about the WORKING CLASS!!!People who WORK for their paychecks,not get it from stealing it!!!
