While it seems like the school is trying to protect its students, they are going about it the wrong way. Its a violation of free speech to police the students in this way. Educating the students about the dangers of a web presence would be a more reasonable approach.I don't understand why can't they just have blockings of(those unsafe sites, myspace ect) My cousin told me they blocked Sports Illustrated's website, because they have photos of women in swimsuits.(it's a freakin sports site, gimme a break.) I mean my work place has a little bit of freedom of what I should be able to look at during my work hours. It keeps me busy from blowing my mind out.

what's your take on this?

***I'm sure the school is only providing the internet for educational purposes and can argue your cousin doesn't need to be on that web site for any school related materials.***

***Bosoxs45 it may be down right stupid, but I do not believe providing the internet is mandated... well in most cases.. not your cousins, seeing it is his form of profession. They put certain restrictions on the internet, one to protect themselves from what the students get into (or we will hear parents yelling all over Fox about what there kid was able to look up in school) and two to keep the child using "The schools internet" on track of what they are using it for. Browsing the internet is an easy way to forget what it was you were looking for on the computer in the first place, especially if you can go to any site you feel like. Maybe yahoo is blocked, because students were found wasting there computer time checking and sending emails. I would think they would use the same restrictions as a parent can on a childs internet access from there computer... we do it for our 5 year old son. It is kind of like a spam guard for your email...low, med, high etc... the detector from there decides what the site falls under... they could add it to a safe list if they wanted to, but that would take the child or parent to contact the school and talk to the schools system operator about a specific site.***
