in another way to pork the municipal employess of stoneham, the town is trying to force them to go with the GIC for health insurance.

the only thing I understood is that we are going to pay more for crappy health insurance

does anyone out there have experience with the GIC?

I don't know if things have changed but when I was working in hospitals GIC was one of the best insurance companies we dealt with. As long as the rules are followed, they're pretty good. My mom also had it for years and loved it.

hey there!
by forcing the towns employees to go with a tiered medical insurance its supposed to save over 1 million dollars, but we have to pay more for less... i may lose my drs (i have 4)
they just forced us from blue cross to tufts, which hasn't been so bad so far.

i did google it, and there is a website under mass.gov
town of saugus just became a member, so ill see if G has any peeps over there he get some info on.

The GIC stands for Group Insurance Company or somehthing like that. It used to be John Hancock years ago but a special division was set up for state employees. My mother never had any problems with it at all and it had a pretty good payment reputation with the providers. But things do change so I don't what's going on with it now.

Hi Envelope28,

I have health insurance and everyone else should as well, because if you are sick there is a co-payment that you should pay when you go for the visit to the doctors some are $10.00 others are more then $10.00 but some insurance will not pay for medical expenses and what do you really think in this matter, Reply Back as soon as possible. Thanks, Casimir Zigulis

In my experience the GIC has been pretty good over the years. But be prepared to speak up for yourself and your healthcare needs. I had to struggle for 6 weeks to have an MRI approved even though my doctor had ordered it. They said I didn't need it because the less expensive CT scan was normal. Eventually with a letter from my doctor and many phone calls I got my MRI, which thankfully was normal. I had to go through the same process when my doctor prescribed a medication they didn't want to pay for.
