I was watching the morning news today and saw an endorsement that I wouldn't want.  Curt Schilling on the stage with John McCain. I don't know  what McCain is thinking. but an endorsement from Schilling isn't going to put him in the White House.  With mic in hand  Curt walking the stage and talking too.  That's the first Mistake.  Ah he's a good man,  Ah he would make a good President, than with another series of Ah's and alot of  You no's,  he gave the mic over to Mr. McCain who must have been thinking "what did I just do"?  It seemed like the most uncomfortable position for all parties.  Why would he (McCain) feel like and endorsement from a bumbling idiot would do anything for his slumping campaign? A pitcher in the twilight of his career,  who can't speak  any better than this writer from Brooklyn.  Maybe Curt see's this as a stepping stone to a career in PoliticsIf that be the case, all I can say is "God Save The Queen".

Dav to funny, I was watching some of that last night and couldn't help but feel sorry for McCain. I think he realized only to late that this was a big mistake.....LOL If Schilling is the best he can do, he better hang it up right now.
I don't think they're doing each other any good, after all their both in the twilight of their careers.
I like the part where Schilling yelled out "I love talking to Red Sox nation" Give it a break Schill, it's over.

I wonder if Gene (Morning news caught that one) He hates the term Red Sox Nation. I feel bad for McCain, I have always liked him. I guess the Presidency is one thing that has eluded his career. To bad "He could have been a Contender"

Schilling doesn't claim to be a professional speaker, but he is a very intelligent and sincere person. McCain doesn't really have a chance at the presidency anyway, so Schill won't be a factor.

Oh yes Schilling is very smart. I hate to burst your bubble he is neither intelligent or sincere. Did you ever see him on Celebrity Jeopardy? Duh... and stand outside Fenway and watch your kid yell Schill Schill and you'll see sincerity. Anyone with Millions can start a charity. He's not giving a penny he's giving his name. Sorry Heather...

fenwaydav,

Although I am neither a John McCain supporter (don't get me wrong, I think he'd make a great president, but he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning at this point.), nor am I a Schilling sycophant, how about a bit less rancor and a little more fact?

Curt and Shonda Schilling are tireless workers for Lew Gehrig's Disease research (ALS). He is a deeply spiritual man and decent to his core.

What's with you? Why attack nice guys? There are so many bad guys you could attack instead.

Chip, I don't dislike McCain (I could look past the fact that he is Republican) I once said I vote for the best Man or Woman in my opinion. Just because Schilling is deeply spiritual and works hard for any disease doesn't mean he is decent, or I have to like him. My response, one up from yours explain pretty much some of my dislike for him. The disappointment in kids faces when he drives into the players area at Fenway Park with not even a wave. I have seen him do this several times. When I stand there, I am only doing so to watch the kids and the joy on their faces. He brings no joy to Mud ville. So Chip he can stand on that mound with the cross to his lips as he prays and makes the sign of the cross, as far as I'm concerned he is worthless. I don't attack nice guys, only the bad one's. We just have different opinions (SOMETIMES) of Good And Bad.

"Just because Schilling is deeply spiritual and works hard for any disease doesn't mean he is decent, or I have to like him."

I may not absolutely mean his is decent, but it's a huge step in that direction. Without direct proof that he is "indecent" from a factual basis, it makes him decent in my eyes. I'm not sure that a wave to the kids is a pre-requisite of decency. what is his pre-game preparation? Is this part of it? who knows. I'll tell you this, he does alot of signings the money from which goes to charity. Most guys pocket the money.....those kids have smiles on their faces, and those guys are no more decent the the "fan total" of Curt Schilling.

But the inplication of your statement is that Schilling is a "bad guy". Now..that owuldn't come from his clear anti-gay beliefs, now would it?

Are you really "for the kids"?

Of course, you don't have to like him if he was Christ incarnate. It is your right as an American to dislike anyone or everyone.

I never even knew what his views on homosexuality was. Never even thought about it. There are alot of people that don't like gay people. There are alot of people that don't like me cause I'm Jewish. You know what alot of people don't like my New Yawk accent. If you think at this stag in my life I give a crap, think again. We all form opinions for a whole lot of different reasons. I've been wrong before. I was once waiting for the bus. This old guy was walking towards the stop. In my mind I said oh please don't talk to me. You know what? He did. I had quite a nice conversation. I try not to pre-judge. I don't like alot of people for stupid reasons. I don't like Robin Williams, I find him to Hyper. Since the time Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah's couch, I don't like him. I don't no if you know the area at Fenway I am talking about. People wait there to see players come in and leave. Hoping to get a autograph or picture. I find it alot of fun. Not everyone comes over Jason sometimes does Damon use too. But everyone gives a tip of the hat or waves. Yeah it is fun to watch the kids with their gloves. You know who else is a horses ass? Yaz. For the very same reason. He is even worse. He stands there for a long time. He's a chain smoker, and doesn't go in till the last min. Now you got the adults yelling Yaz Yaz. He might as well be giving you the finger. What can I tell you.. You been gone all week-end and catching up? Go read my blog on Mitt's speech.

Hiya Fenwaydav,

Regarding Schilling, I stand by my opinion that he's intelligent and sincere. I fear judging people's intellect based on their Jeopardy performances. Did you know he helped Hasbro, Inc. develop military board games because he is such a WWII history buff? He's also been married to the same woman, the mother of all of his four children, since 1992. As a nod to his sincerity, he named his first son Gehrig, after Lou Gehrig, in whose honor he raises thousands of dollars for ALS every year. This is when he's not starting internet gaming companies, appearing in the local Quincy Christmas parade with his family, supporting his wife's charity, or refusing to charge fans for autograph signings.
