I was sitting here watching my Friday night Political shows and just thinking a couple of things.

What if Obama and Clinton were republicans.  They were conservatives instead of liberal.  Would they still have the support they have now?  (And don't have).  Would you the die hard republican be for Hillary.  Would you be pushing for Barrack the way you may have wanted Mitt?  Where would Oprah be standing?  Is she behind Obama because he is black or because he is a democrat?  Would her millions of dollars and fans be behind a black republican?  Are you a Hillary supporter because she is a democrat or because she is a women?  I have pondered these questions and come to a conclusion  for myself.   I am for Mrs. Clinton to the end.  Some think that may be on Tuesday and it may very well be.   Till the day she bows out I have to stand behind her. (Not that my standing behind her amounts a hill of beans).  I like her,  and yes it might be because she is a women.   I have seen over time that women leaders have been good for that country.  I Think Hillary Clinton would be could for the United States of America.   I am not looking for any yeahs  or sneers  just to try to have you look at it in a different light.  If Hillary Clinton was a republican I would still vote for her.  If John McCain was a democrat, would you vote for him?

It's about a philosophy of governance Dave. If in some alternate universe, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama were Republicans (lets call them Bizarro Hillary and Bizarro Barack), then their philosophy of the role government plays in our lives would be fundamentally different. Their views on any number of issues would be totally different. Rather than favoring a single-payer health care system, they'd be more apt to support a market-based solution. A Republican has views on entitlement programs that are completely opposite to that of a Democrat. So would Hillary or Barack enjoy the same degree of support they do now if they were instead Republicans? Certainly not. Oprah would not support Barack, because her philosophy of the way government works is that of a democrat, and not a republican.

POLITICS AS UNUSUAL....

In watching the national political circus unfold as it lurches toward election day 2008, one is reminded of the inescapable message of Mary Shelley's classic Gothic novel:
The Clintons very much have created Osama Obama and now their Frankenstein is turning on them.

If you think things now are bad in this country, just wait until the new Democratic administration is installed next year. Be very careful of what you vote for in the upcoming Presidential election; you just may get an even more lackluster repeat of what now occupies [at least temporarily] the corner office on Beacon Hill.

Remember: Together we can . . . . . . . . [fill in this blank if you can find a phrase that actually helps make sense of this hackneyed and hollow political slogan].

A democtrat will buy you a fish, and a republican will teach you how to fish, so you can fend for yourself. That is the party difference in a nutshell. Dems want to take all your money and re-distribute it to the poor, and the lazy, through big government.
Republicans want everyone to succede on their own merit, without special help from big government. I would never vote for a woman. They are too emotional, and emotion is is what brings stupid government bans, and "if it saves one life" or "Its for the children retoric.

E.fan, Thank you for giving the race to the democrats, Your second paragraph concedes the race. nomorehacks, your remark about women will bring us back to the dark ages. I don't think even the most republicans of republicans would agree with what you said, not out loud anyway.....

nomorehacks - You'll have to fish with a rod that was made in China and laced with led because the manufacturer was too cheap to offer health insurance to American workers. The boat you fish from was assembled in a factory employing illegal immigrants because ICE didn't have enough money for regular onsite inspections. (true, really)

Josephine, I have no respect for someone that compared Adolf Hitler to Barack Obama,as you have. Furthermore If women Just stayed barefoot and pregnant, the country would be in much better shape. Kids wouldnt be the punks they are. There would be no unemployment.Life would be easier. I may be opinionated, but Not illiterate. Whether you like it or not Freedom of speech allows everyone's opinion.

nomorehacks,
After all the years of women being barefoot and pregnant, they finally realized there was life beyond catering to men. Women are to blame for unemployment? How's that again? Maybe if men had been running the country correctly for the last two hundred or so years we wouldn't be in the shape we're in. Women run households and businesses, sometimes at the same time. Why not this country? Life would be easier for whom? You? Are you for real? And as far as respect goes. You don't seem to have it for anyone but yourself. The one person who does not deserve it. Just my opinion.

Jonsmom, Just like a woman sticking your nose in someone elses business. I was talking to Josepehine. And if you have'nt figured it out by now, I sometimes say things ,Just to get a rise out of people, and or make them think. The bare foot comment was a joke, but Women are really too emotional to make tough decisions..

nomorehacks, You and the others have turned what was supposed to be a little fun and just make you think into a shouting match and name calling. The fact I saw Josephine here Who once told me to stay away from her blog because I'm to high maintenance made me think I was in the Twilight Zone. ahumbleman was the only one that stuck to the topic. Why don't you write your blog and fight over there....

Dave, I'm with Humble on this one...Now, if you were to say something like "if John McCain were a Democrat like Barack Obama, would you still vote for him?", that'd be something I could answer honestly. But your question as is, I can't answer. (Now, for the answer to the one I posed, that answer would be "Oh HELL no!")

fenway, I think what you are really asking is whether a person will be voting Party, or Gender. Imo, I think it varies, but those that vote just because of wanting a female President are not doing anyone a favor. You have to base your vote on more important issues simply because what a person stands for, whether male of female is what counts.

And, I don't see that you can label people because of their sex. There are women out there that are every bit as aggressive as men, and visa versa...men who are meek and mild.
Hillary, would not be where she is had it not been for her personality. She's no wimp. Still, I will not support her. I am also an Independent voter.

Ms Fox, That's exactly what I was asking. Am I staying behind Hillary because she is a she. Well kind of, but I truly believe she would be good for the country. I realize out here in Fox country I am a minority. If she was republican yes I would probally still vote for her. At one point in my life I was hoping Elizabeth Dole would have made that move. I want s woman President. What are you doing for the next 8 years??????

Fenway,
Absolutely not! I'm really curious as to why you like Hillary? Every supporter of hers I come across says it's time for a woman president. No mention of her platform or previous performance or even lack there of . I'm all for a woman President even a Demorat just not her! Another 4-8 years of a Clinton in office would make these past 8 years look like the 50's. I'm not a religious man and the Koran is the last thing I want to be forced to learn.

Hi Mike, 4-8 years of Hillary is what this country needs to make a mends to the countries around the world that hate us. Since the Bush White House, we have lost some very important support, that I think a Clinton White House could restore. We use to travel to other countries for various reasons including a strong dollar. Now people from other countries travel here for bargains because of our weak dollar. The argument may be over after today's primaries. I hope she is still in the race. Good hearing from you Mike......
