If you're for the death penalty are you liberal or conservative?   I am thought to be a liberal on many issues.  The Supreme Court just ruled  that lethal injection is constitutional.  Of course it's constitutional.  If the death penalty is legal in your state. .  I feel without a doubt it's the most humane way to do it.  More often than not it's a lot less horrible then the way they took their victims.   There was an argument brought fought by a Kentucky Prisoner saying that if administered wrong it can cause pain before death.  AWWWH,  my heart bleeds.  Tough Noogies.  If it was up to me they should purposely administer it wrong all the time.  Going out shouldn't be a picnic for these criminals.  They should make death hurt as much as they did to their victims.   I think the Supreme Court did the right thing.

My ONLY problem with the death penalty is human error. How many times do we hear stories of people being in jail 10, 20 years for crimes they did not commit? It happens more often than I care to see it happen. If we are sentencing someone to death, I would want to know 100% and beyond any doubt that person is in fact responsible for the crime he was found guilty of. Our justice system has a lot of fixing to do before they can be trusted to get that right 100% of the time. I don't know that I would be able to live with myself if I was somehow responsible for an innocent person's death. You know what I mean? Other than that, it should definitely hurt.

June, I'm with you on the human error aspect, but, if someone who is given the death penalty is there on solid scientific evidence that they did in fact do the crime they're sentenced to die for, then I don't really give much of a rat's ass about if they're "in pain" while being executed. I don't think there is a truly painless method of death out there, other than possibly some natural diseases. And, considering that a good deal of people on the various death rows in this country are there for murder, I find it kinda ironic that people are so worried about their executions being painful.

And hell, as a money saving measure, I'd pass a law saying that the needles used to give the injections can be used up to 10 times before being discarded. Without sterilization. (I've always wondered about that, but no one can explain why having sterile needles for lethal injection is important.)

June and Xantum, I also talk about the Hannibal Lector type that without a shadow of a doubt they committed a horrific act. There can't be any maybe's involved. Xantum that's a wonderful idea about the needles. I would use it till it's to dull to go in anymore. Not to get far from the topic, but I wonder the pain the people in the World Trade Towers felt. The one's who made the decision to jump 80 stories the one's that had a building collapse upon them and still was alive for a time. That was true pain. Sorry....

Dave, that's pretty close to my point. All these murderers on Death Row, did they care how their victims felt when they died? Probably not, so they'll just have to forgive me for not caring how they feel come execution time. They should consider themselves somewhat lucky that they at least know when they'll die. It's the only concession to their feelings and comfort they should be allowed.

We also need to look at the possibiity of mortgaging human success by fear of human error....

I agree whole-heartedly..I believe also there is no rehabilitating certain individuals for crimes of rape, murder and the like. Why was lethal injection even considered to be unconstitutional..what the needle pricks, maybe; and that's deemed a violation of one's rights?

Dma60, They tried to make unconstitutional because some said it was cruel. I guess there are a series of shots and one shot which is supposed to knock you out before you die was paralyzing the person and they were fully aware of what was going on. Don't quote me but it was something like that. I say to bad... The Supreme Court did the right thing by overruling that.
