fenwaydav's Blog

Last Post 4 days, 7 hours Ago

I was going to write a little response to AJ's blog and found myself  telling a story of my own.  That sometimes happens when I go to answer someone else's piece and just chuck it for a blog of my own.  He wrote about the weather and how we are upon this heat wave.  He mentioned the complaints he gets in Winter.

Let's get this straight.  I wasn't one of the complainer's over Winter.  As a matter of fact I kind of think we had a mild Winter for the last few years.  The only one thing I dislike about Winter, are the days after it snows and trying to get around in the City.  The slushy rivers make it impossible to cross the street.  Other than that Winter is a piece of cake.

Here we are in day 2 of what will be our first heat wave of the Summer (in Spring).  I don't remember when I started to dislike the Summer so much.  The sun is not a friend of mine.  In 1995 I had  Basil Cell Carcinoma removed from my face.  It almost destroyed  my pretty face.  (joke, laugh, ha ha) I haven't been to the Ocean for a good swim since.   I hate the feel of sun screen and I refuse to wear a hat.   I have thought of an umbrella, but then I decided no.  My AC has been running  on and off since April, and now it's become more steady.   My May Electric Bill was up about $20.00 from the same time last year.  It always goes up, but this year I fear even more.  I don't drive and have the expense of those outrageous gas price's so if a higher than usual electric bill for a few months is the price I have to pay for comfort, so be it.  I sweat like a pig and can do without the humidity also.   I go to Fenway Park only for night games for the most part, and on that rare occasion I'm there during the day I have the cover of the Grandstand.

I have the morning sun so I keep my shades down.   If you are looking for my cat Daisy, look no further then any window sill.  She sleeps for hours on the other side of the shade baking in the sun.   Here it is so early in June and I find myself  longing for Fall.   I wouldn't mind  60-70 with a little breeze off the ocean.  Tree's in full bloom so I have some shade.  Some tell me to go to San Francisco and I tell them where they can go.  I truly love the North East, and the only wish I have is that we have 3 seasons instead of 4.   So AJ, Kevin, Cindy and even Melissa you never have to worry about me complaining to you about Winter,  but I'm afraid we have a whole Summer ahead.

Hi fenwaydav, Thank you for your recent comment and I just have one thing to say to you and you don't go to church like most people do and if the Bible does exsist like you say it doesn't then what is your point and you probably don't tithe like others because if you go to church then you must be a sinner in this point, do you follow what I am saying to you and it does say it in the bible rather it's true or not true, so if you would like to get into more discussion on this story then send me another blog on my post and will be happy to clear up the issue as well. Thanks, Casimir T.Zigulis

Chippy(as you once said they call you)The proper blog etiquette is to reply to someones blog in which they replied to yours. This blog is talking about weather, not the Bible. And no I do not follow what you are saying.

Chippy I see you are so self absorbed in your own world. To ask if I like this weather just proves to me, you didn't even read my blog. Have a nice life.

Congratulations on beating the skin cancer. I am constantly reminded at home to put on sunscreen when I do yard work and swim in the pool. I, too, dislike the lotion, but it is so important.

BTW... I love the heat.

fenway,

I am with you!!! HATING this! Maybe if my life was all about laying near the ocean I wouldn't mind it so much, but I have to work and run errands like the rest of the normal folks. Again, in case you didn't get this the first time, HATING this! Even Peekaboo and Garfield are hating this. I found Peekaboo on Sunday wrapped (literally) around the base of the toilet. After wiping her down, I realized that was probably the coolest place she could find in the house. I immediately installed their a/c in their bedroom (yes, my cats have their own room that they have to share with my computer, LOL).

We have one of those portable a/c in our bedroom....public announcement coming up: NEVER get one. Not only are they useless unless it's actually COOL outside, but the hose that connects to the window actually heats up!!!! I was furious!! I was so uncomfortable and upset this weekend that poor Elijah gave me a wide berth. We have to go out and get a new a/c this coming weekend (stupid bedroom windows are only 16 inches wide, it's hard to find an a/c). Anyway, this is my long winded way of saying...HATING this. Can't even find comfort in my birthday coming up. I'm just getting older.

This bites.

Hey Kev, Thanks but I haven't truly beat it. I am fair and never really tanned. After burning and peeling I would stay a nice soft red glow. Growing up on the beach in Coney Island that was the way of life. We didn't no any better. I see a dermatologist on a semi regular basis.
June, this is hysterical, Daisy shares the room with my computer also. Although she has the run of the place. She likes laying on the window sill on the other side of a downed shade. She is hot to the touch when I go to pet her. She lays in the bathroom sink to cool off. I keep a fan of the floor to help circulate the air condition and she sometimes lays in front of that. She's the Queen (well, tries to be). I have a great unit in the Living room and the one in my bedroom is being replaced with a better newer model. The one there will go in Daisy and the computer room. Like I wrote above, I don't have to pay for Gas so if I pay more for my electric it's a small price to pay for my comfort.

Same here fenwaydav. I won't live in the heat. I just won't. We have a car and we have to worry about gas for that, but my husband takes care of the gas. I take care of the home utility bills so A/C it is!!

Garfield and Peekaboo make sure I understand it's THEIR room and I'm just being allowed to borrow a corner of it. When I placed Peekaboo in front of the a/c on Sunday, she went limp in my arms and a minute later, she was asleep. She was hot! LOL!

Hating this!

I love those Summer thunder storms that signify a cool breeze is on the way.....

I love the thunder storms but only if they are going to last long enough to cool things down. In my country of birth, Dominican Republic, we get these very annoying summer flash showers. They last about 10 minutes and all they manage to do is bring up all the steam from the scorching asphalt and turn the city into a giant sauna. After, you are hotter than you were to begin with. Hate that too. I love my country. I used to spend the summers there when I was young but now, I only go there during the winter months. It's still warm, but no where near the jungle conditions of the summer.

Dear fenwaydav,
I just want to say that i am sorry about not reading your blog and I happen to see the temperature which 83o in Boston and to tell you the truth I don't even like this weather never mind staying in the sun and getting burned like bacon sizzling and why does your electric bill go up in this case fenwaydav, the price of gas has gone up to $4.00 a gallon maybe it doesn't bother you since you don't drive a car and sunscreen is a perfect solution to the problem and hope that you will give me for not responding to your blog.

Really Sorry fenwaydav!

I guess the high price of gas affects us all whether we drive or not. The services that require gas to get the product to us is one way. My Electric goes up due to the fact that I run my air conditioner almost at a steady pace due to the heat. I try to conserve as much as possible, but none the less it still is getting more use these days and the days to follow.

you are so right about that as well and this economy is too much for us to handle, because the president made alot of mistakes like the war in iraq, so what is next we will have to find out and see what really is going to happen to the rest of this country!
