YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

I just wrote a blog about a child falling out a window and 3 days later I write again.  I am very sorry but these people have no right to be parents.  Excuses Excuses Excuses!!!!  This time 4 floors in Hyde Park.  At this point I am not sure of all the details just that another child is hospitalized from falling out a window.

For shame on these people.  You are supposed to be their protectors.  What are we going to do with this B.S.

Fenway... It's getting to the point where if a baby falls out of a window the parents should have to face the same consequence. It just disgusts me so much but being a Dad of two great kids I couldn't wish a injury or death to a parent of any kid. When are these self centered idiots going to realize kids do test boundarys and do find trouble in the simplest places and things.

I remember in the mid to late 1990's a child falling from a window of a Gainsborough Street building and dying from the fall. I delivered to the building and though it was well before I was a Dad I remember the sorrow I felt when I was outside the building realizing that a young innocent life had been taken by such a simple and innocent act.

PARENTS WAKE UP AND INSTALL SAFETY BARS ON YOU"RE UPPER STORY WINDOWS.

It should be like this: The kid fell? Where there bars installed? No?? Well, in to jail you go, "parent". A few years in there should be enough time to let you reconsider your stupidity.

In my opinion, this is no different than tying your kid to the top of your car and taking off. It is child endangerment in all it's glory. It's time to start punishing people the same way.

You know, I am beginning to feel the landlord has to take some responsibility also. They know they are renting to families with small kids and it should be a requirement for them. This particular case was a disaster waiting to happen. The bunk beds were against the windows. Didn't even have regular screen on it. Bet you anything, pets fall all the time unreported. But Kids Can't Fly.....

It is a horrible shame! Fenwaydav, I agree that the landlord should be responsible for installing the bars. However, the parents need to advocate for their children!!!!!

We have bars on our 2nd floor windows and they are expensive. My opinion is there is no price too great in protecting my son. But I do realize there are people who absolutely cannot afford them. For those... open the windows from the top panes, leave the bottom closed (this is a very easy and free safety step). And also insist that your landlord keep windows in safe condition. You can report them for not doing so. Like "cloughchick" said... "the parents need to advocate for their children!!!!!"

I do not want the responsibility of having a child. A lot of people feel the same way I do but have them anyway.

Well any parent with any commen sense, wouldn"t put a bunk bed next to a window! how stupid can you be?

Bunk beds next to a 4th floor window? Without screens? Um, what? These "parents" need some jail time for endangerment. More jail time for negligent homicide if the kid dies.

Yet more proof we need to test people before they're allowed to breed and sterilize the people who fail the tests miserably!

I didn't mean to make excuses or give parents a way out in my advocacy statement. We all need to watch our children 24/7. But any parent knows there are always those 2 seconds... in which case we should be prepared and always be secure in our minds that we have provided a safe envorinment for our children. And yes... bunkbeds next to a window (open or closed/screen or not) is definately stupid.

Parents are to blame not landlords. A parents number one concern is the child if not they should not have that child. Blaming the landlord is just passing the buck.

When we place the safety of children over the rights of parents, we will go a long way toward improving this issue. It just irks me that there are so many childless couples (and I mean same sex couples too!!!) who are importing babies from third world countries (wanna talk about a cottage industry...) when we have clearly inadequate parents HERE whose children deserve, as their birthright, so much better.

Adoption...that's the answer!!

Of course these parents shouldn't have the right to have children because of their stupidity, but they do.

It is not safe for anyone on the fourth floor to have windows without some sort of protection. This should be brought up at a Housing Commission or whatever the local government has in regard to apartment/condo safety.

Bars would not allow firemen to come to the aid of victims, but if there are bars that can be unlocked from the outside or inside, that could be mandated as a code for large housing projects.

Mare codes = more price. More price = less people who can afford housing. Less people who can afford housing = more homelessness.

Ergo: More codes (government regulation) = more homelessness. It's not abut laws, it's about parents. If you cannot afford to pretect them, don't produce them.

It is the PARENTS responsibility to protect their child(ren). We as a state make so many excuses for people not to take care of the responsibilities. HELLO PEOPLE GET A JOB AND PROTECT YOUR CHILD(REN). STOP FILING LAW SUITS YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE YOU ARE BEING NEGLECTFUL. PROTECT YOUR CHILD AT ALL COSTS!!! I BET MONEY WAS THERE FOR THE MOTHER OR FATHER TO HAVE NICE NEW CLOTHES OR SHINEY GOLD JEWELRY. Kids do not ask to be born if they could you would probably do a better job picking their parents

Maybe we should raise taxes and start programs to educate these people on the dangers of not watching children? Better yet, we could raise taxes and install bars on all the windows in MA? We just need more programs, more taxes, more education, more more more more

Yeah, that is exactly what we should do.

Let me ask this...When a child dies in a fire because they could not get out in time because there were bars on the windows...will you guys being saying that they should be held responsible for that as well? In life there will always be tragedies. This mother will forever be punished and haunted, as she should be. But she needs no more punishment than that.

Oh Charlestown27, Don't be so dramatic. First of all these bars are removable. Second more kids fall out windows than burn in fires because of bars.

This is my semi annual profile update. Live in the West Fenway section of Boston with my cat Daisy (pictured). Came to Ma. about 30 years ago from Nu Yawk. If we had a conversation you would think I just got off the boat. I lived in Waltham, Bedford, Lowell and now Boston. Never ever was a sports fan in NY. My family hates that I am now a dedicated Red Sox Fan. I was in the Navy, I drove a Taxi in NY, I worked for the VA, and now have a disability retirement from the Post Office. I am a Jewish, Gay man in my mid 50's. I am a registered democrat who has voted for Nixon and Reagan and I don't care what you think about my social or political views.
