FIREFIGHTER A NO SHOW......

I wrote a piece earlier and decided I didn't want to hear all the grief I was sure I was going to get so I deleted it. I am referring to the firefighter who was out on a disability. He may not have been disabled enough for a permanent disability, but he sure has heck is now. The mental distress of his posing almost naked body and people in the media judging him would surely make me a basket case. I would even be afraid for my life. This issue is between him and the Fire Department. For weeks we had to endure that blurry video has made me a mental case. Leave the guy alone. Will the press be happy to report his suicide? There are better stories out there like a man playing with ladies feet.
Last night at 10, I was watching the News on Fox. I was sitting there thinking about all the sad news I watch before I go to sleep.
Shirley Chan say's, "The video you are about to see will just make you cringe". A women is walking with her son who appears to be about 5 or 6 years old. They are coming out of a Macy's and walking through the parking lot to the car. For what appears to be no reason, the women pulls the boys ear and then swipes him with the shopping bag on the head knocking him down. He was probally bad in the store and she said wait till I get you in the car. With no help from her the boy gets up and proceeds to follow her. The police are trying to find this lady. Like the reporter said, he must be use to that from the ease he just got up and continued to follow her. Like someone also said God only knows what happened when she got him in the car.
This was like Shirley said pretty hard to watch. The Mother should have someone popping her in the head. Horrible! What was even worse, was the amount of times they felt the need to show the video from the beginning. In the 2 or 3 minutes it took to tell this story, the video was shown 6 times. (Not to mention the promo's leading up to the story). Very bad taste if you ask me.

Isn't it wonderful to hear, that if things go the way they are going, the US may be able to pull troops out of Iraq by the Spring. Yes wouldn't that be nice to start bringing the now 156,000 troops home.
Does our Government think that it's people are that gullible to think this is an all together good thing. Don't get me wrong I would love to see our men and women home from the foreign soil of people that hate us. Maybe the death toll on a daily bases has gone down, but car bombs and other ingenious killing devices are still be used.
I wasn't born in yesterday's rain! In one breath you say how things have improved in Iraq, and than the next how things are worsening in Afghanistan. Will those returning troops even come home or go straight there? Will a new administration help? We have been lied to over and over again. I have said this before and I'll say it again, we need to stop being the World's babysitter...
JOSE CANSECO CAN'T FIGHT....

This past Saturday from Atlantic City comes a story that can be called stay out of places you don't belong. Yes it was this night that Jose Canseco stepped into the ring with former Philadelphia Eagle Vai Sikahema. Canseco, the former baseball slugger and center of steroid controversy towered over his opponent. Canseco stood 6'4" 248 pounds and Sikahema 5'9" and 43 pounds lighter. Before his football career, Sikahema was a Golden Glove champ with over 80 amateur fights to his victory. Before the fight Canseco bragged about his Mixed Martial Arts career. He claims he has a Black Belt in Kung Fu, Taekwondo and Muay Thai.
Size had no effect, and the fight was over in 97 seconds with a knockout. Sikahema said Canseco was massive and very impressive to look at, but he's (Canseco) a walking corpse and rotten inside out. He's a pathetic figure. Jose walked away from the fight with a mere $35,000. He still owes his lawyer $342.000 in overdue legal fees. It's sad in a sense that he thinks he can go on to fight other's. The other sad thing is if not for the steroids, he might have gone on to be a world class champ and possible Hall of Fame with a broadcast career. Life for him now will be one stint after another making a fool of himself.
DEATH COMES IN THREE'S

Three very well known public people died within the last couple of days.
Tony Snow the White House Press Secretary died of a recurrence of Cancer. A young 53 more than just the title he held he was also a good friend to President Bush. Tony also worked as a Fox News Commentator.
Dr. Michael DeBakey Died at 99. Dr. DeBakey pioneered the now common procedures used in Bypass Surgery. He was also the inventor of many other heart devices that through the years have saved many lives.
Finally last but certainly not least, Bozo the Clown died. Larry Harmon died at 83. For more than half a century it was Harmon's version of Bozo that entertained children, (writer included). Harmon was not the original Bozo, but had the foresight to buy the rights to the character and licensed the character to others, including dozens of TV stations across the nation who in turned hired local Bozos. It wasn't to cool to be called a Bozo, but Harmon didn't mind and took the name all the way to the bank.
Three men with very different rolls. In my opinion none more important than the other.
ONE GAVE US HEALTH, THE OTHER MADE US THINK, AND STILL ANOTHER MADE US LAUGH!!!!! Rest in Peace gentlemen your job here on Earth is done. God Bless.......

Rev. Jesse Jackson found what it was like to be on the wrong side of a open mic. At a reception Rev. Jackson made some pretty off the cuff remarks about Barrack Obama thinking he was talking with his Mic shut off. This lead to an apology by Jackson and a criticism from none other than his own son. This has been a common mistake by many a leader and wanna be. For me I always make sure I see that little red light before I start ranking on others. Yes Rev. Jackson, before you cut off anything, make sure the Mic is cut off first.
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
I just wrote a blog about a child falling out a window and 3 days later I write again. I am very sorry but these people have no right to be parents. Excuses Excuses Excuses!!!! This time 4 floors in Hyde Park. At this point I am not sure of all the details just that another child is hospitalized from falling out a window.
For shame on these people. You are supposed to be their protectors. What are we going to do with this B.S.
OOPS! WRONG SIDE......

The surgeon talked to the patient and gave a full explanation and full apology.
The middle age patient was operated on the wrong side. What could the explanation be? Well he had a lot on his mind and was distracted. Oh, I see no problem.... Yeah right.. He will be (the patient) in short term discomfort following this elective orthopedic procedure. It was clearly marked by other staff to the side that should be done.
A few months ago, I had elective wrist surgery on my right hand. This involved 2 incisions, 1 at the base of the right thumb and the other at the wrist just below the thumb. Before I was sent into la la land the surgeon spoke to me exactly what was going to be done. At the point where the incision was going to be it was marked with this neon purple dye. This dye would remain on my wrist a full month or more after the procedure.
This is a fact that just blows my mind. In the first five months of the year, this kind of event has happened 5 times so far with it happening a average of 15 times annually. How can that be? Probably nothing of great consequence will happen to this doctor being a death didn't occur. I am not so sure if one had occurred much would have happened.

1 year old falls out window and fighting for it's life!!!!!
I'm sorry folks, but this is happening way to many times. Mother is out of the apartment and it appears one year old child pushed through the second floor window screen. Every other month someone's baby falls out the window. The poor thing lye's in the hospital with a concussion. Didn't the last one fall into some bushes breaking he fall? What does it cost to have the child proof bars put on the windows. I'll give you the money if you can't afford it. I am sick and tired of these babies falling like this. They are not birds. Please there is enough bad news I have to listen to before I go to bed, this shouldn't be one.
Granted it isn't even in the News yet, but very soon you will be hearing people from both sides of the aisle telling you the evils of Gay Marriage. Since the year plus that it has been legal I can't recall one problem that has arisen.
On the other hand while sitting here watching Kim and Gene rattle off the News this morning the 3 top stories read as follows:
I... Uncle, person of interest in the disappearance of his 12 year old niece. By the way, he's a registered sex offender.
II... 47 year old man being held in custody after his arrest. He has been on the States most want list. He was wanted for brutally raping his daughter over a 5 year period.
III... Winchester teacher facing charges of child enticement of a 13 year old girl.
When are you people going to realize, be afraid of your straight neighbours and not your Gay one's.
Like the song Bette Midler sings "From a Distance" The Longfellow Bridge looks like a work of art connecting Boston to Cambridge. Also called the Salt and Pepper bridge for the towers that resemble a sat and pepper shaker. First take a walk or drive over it. (if you dare) You will see chunks of concrete lying on the side of the roadway. The walkway is OK if you keep you head looking down so you don't trip on the humongous gaps. If that's not scary enough, take a look at what's going on underneath. If you don't want to lower yourself by rope to do this, take a trip on the Duck Tour. As you travel under it just pray that this isn't the moment. The decaying rust and falling concrete would have Longfellow himself turning in his grave. Now alot of roadways like The Storrow Drive are also in desperate need of immediate care, but Storrow Drive does not span over water. If the City has closed the bridge to only one lane of traffic in each direction and totally banned it to foot traffic on the 4th of July, things are bad. Very bad. If I were you I wouldn't go within a mile of this bridge on top or underneath. Remember, it's bad luck if the salt shaker falls and spills the salt. The pepper will be close behind....
WHAT DID THEY ASK THE JUDGE?

Elliott Weinstein ask if before the sentence be read could he approach the bench. The judge granted this and Neil Entwistle with his 2 lawyers proceeded to talk to the judge. At first I thought the nerve they were going to ask if he could do his sentence in the UK. Then I remembered a similar situation of years ago when the same request was asked. Upon the meeting today of Neil and his lawyers they asked the judge if he could say goodbye to his Mother, Father and Brother. The judge allowed this. If you noticed the way the Entwistle's were called out of court. They were whisked of to a back room where the good-byes were said.
How lucky for Neil to be given this privilege. A privilege not afforded his wife and daughter. Rachels family didn't have that luxury to put their arms around her and baby Lilly. I wiped the tears from my eyes when I heard her brother recall a incident on a school bus when they were children. Lilly will never get to ride that bus. This has been a long draining period for the families of Rachel and Lillian. Their lives are changed forever. Like her brother said other members of the family will have pictures change from year to year, but Rachel and Lilly will stay the same. Neils mother will get to hold her son and say goodbye before their fly off to London. It's sad also what they had to endure. Even with yesterdays outburst I still feel for this woman. She lost her son also.
WHAT'S A MOTHER TO DO?

Neil Entwistle's mother stepped in front of the cameras outside courthouse in Woburn with anger in her voice to say under no uncertain terms is her son guilty. The father did virtually the same thing. Indignantly she blamed this all on Rachel. Never again will she hold her son in her arms. In another state he would have been placed to death. The Jury read the decision with a quick shut of the eyes and that now famous grin, Neil heard his lot. I hope you rot in Hell Neil Entwistle.
A MOTHERS PAIN....

A Mother in Roxbury wants to know, "when will the hole in her heart will go away?" I speak from experience when I tell this poor mother and the siblings who lost a son and brother, it won't. The years may soften the pain a little, but every anniversary of the event and every birthday that could have been, you will always think about it. She cries out with questions. Why wasn't her boy supervised. He collapsed and dies just feet from the school he should have been in. The answer to that is simple. He was cutting class and the teachers have a hard enough time supervising the students in class that want to be there. She wants to know why the Paramedics took so long? There is a record of this event like all events they are called to. From the time they recieved the call to the time they arrived, it was 5 minutes. The kids with him say it took a long time for them to come. I guess if you don't know how to give CPR and you are standing over someone who is dying, every minute seems like a eternity. We have heard this story plenty of times before, a seemingly healthy young person for no apparent reason just drops dead while exerting in a sport. I am not a Doctor, but like all the other cases I am sure an autopsy will reveal some kind of heart problem. So Mother your pain is felt. They will investigate exactly what happened and if there is anyone to blame for your baby's death. I am sorry for your loss. A life so young struck down before he was able to make his mark. May he rest in peace.
